Quick note, I measured the brightness at 200nit but LG wanted me to point out that this is SDR brightness and according to them the peak brightness in HDR APL 3% is 1000nit. 1. For a brighter display, please turn off the "Smart Energy Saving" option in the monitor settings. 2. A firmware update for the monitor's Game Mode enhancing the brightness during gaming is to be released in April 2023. Thanks! Bye. 😃

@@D4rkstorn Yeah that is literally the same information you can find in my comment but thanks. Also with panel technology I mean that this panel and the one found in the 45GR95QE and assumingly the Xeneon Flex are literally cut from the same panel sheet according to LG, not just that they coincidentally use OLED as well. This is why I jokingly commented it does bend, since the panel should be able to, it's just the glass and housing that doesn't bend (or well bend and bend back again, I'm sure you can bend it somehow if you tried)

let's be honest, the reflections on tv aren't even objectively that bad. i think a lg tv reflects like 2% of light or some sht like that. the reason people feel it's more relfective than normal is because it's a sharp mirror reflection, and not a smear of light like these dumb coats do. oftentimes the smeared reflections are actually more reflective than these tvs. not to mention they dim the screen and reduce sharpness a little.

I think for the first time I heard here that keeping your panel that high is ergonomic. Its been some years, but when I dug more into it, recommended the most was that to put the panel at a position if you look slightly down you see the upper edge of the monitor. That was also for office use and not gaming, but I always put my monitor down as much as possible, because if I look somewhere up, I tend to strecht my neck upwards, which at least for me is really uncomfortable. But ergonomics are always to a degree individual preference and not all science.

27 inches is just far too small to be able to fully appreciate the picture quality of an OLED, and 1440p isn't a great resolution to be able to take advantage of the panel technology either. I got the 42" LG C2 last month and I don't think I could ever move back to a "gaming monitor" with a matte screen ever again. Everything "pops" because of the clear glossy screen on the C2 and it is the perfect size for both immersion and usability, not to mention its input lag and pixel response times rivel if not surpass the vast majority of monitors out there. The days of needing a dedicated gaming monitor are over. Modern TVs have surpassed gaming monitors in pretty much all areas in my opinion.

27 inches, 2K, OLED is EXACTLY what I have been asking for since the dawn of time. Even with a very powerful PC, 4K is just too demanding to get the silky frame rates that you can with 2K. HDR also makes a much bigger difference to the visual experience than the higher resolution of 4K. The lower brightness of an OLED display is not a deal breaker for a desktop monitor. Managing the lighting in a single room is pretty easy. The matte coating on the display would be a deal breaker for me. I have an LG 65C1 which has a glossy OLED display and while the reflectivity is a real problem the trade-off in image quality and color sharpness more than makes up for it. Again, a desktop monitor or TV is the type of display that won't move from room to room so it is very easy to manage the lighting in the room where you are using the display.

They'll never release such a monitor, because they would last 10-20 years easily, which doesn't allow them to sell more monitors. Realistically, OLED is designed to last 2-5 years, and that's entirely so you have to buy a new one periodically. They will never ignore this leverage over customers. So the monitor you want will simply never be allowed to exist.

Kudos to Dawid for not just reviewing the technical specs of the monitor, but also using it long enough that he could comment respectfully and honestly on its day-to-day livability. Dawid, in your experience, does this type of panel require an adjustment in how you configure its settings? Personally I run my LED panels' color gamut a little bit warm to adjust for many panels' tendencies towards bluish white, and usually keep brightness and contrast between 60 and 75% to preserve backlight life. I don't do color-accurate rendering work so I'm not worried about peak accuracy, but just wondering how much you had to tweak the panel to get it where you were happy with it.

That said, I also prefer monitors to be higher up when gaming (and prefer the "ergonomically correct" height for productivity work). I ordered the QD OLED Alienware display the other day. - I know this will sound silly, but one of the biggest draws is the glossy display vs. the matte finish. I heard through the grapevine of this display coming out despite the embargo (shhh). And I was excited for it. I'm okay with 1440P (Alienware is 1440 wide). Though, it's a little dim. But the anti-glare coating takes away a ton of sharpness and really kills the vividness in the OLED for me. - Just got to the end. You're 100% right about the coating being a deal breaker. It's sad. The worst part is that the matte finish most likely added to the price. Sure, the reflection's don't help, and make the experience annoying in well lit environments. - But believe me, there's only one way to do OLED, and it's not matte that's for sure.

Thanks so much for emphasizing the importance of the panel coating. These thick, shimmery matte coatings are an atrocity. Anyone remember old Ultrasharps? And I'm sure LG Display still uses similarly bad matte layers on a lot of other panels. It is possible to have matte coatings be much clearer and typically not as distracting (like on my XPS 9500) but the glossy anti-reflective coatings on TVs are the gold standard.

48 inches is trash for most serious gamers. Even 42 inch is way too big. There's a reason why people are looking for 27-32 inch OLED panels. If I want big screen gaming I am using my QD-OLED TV which blows me LG G1 away. For shooters and competitive gaming I will take my 27" 1440p IPS 280 Hz any day still. Even 32 inch is too big for serious fps gaming, eyes needs to physically move to see the edges = slow reaction in game and terrible performance. 24-27 inch is sweet spot for fps gaming for a reason. Casual gamers might as well buy a console and use a 65+ inch tv instead.

8 years of waiting and we finally get some sub 40 inch oled monitors on the market. So, in about 8 more years we'll habe AFFORDABLE ones. See you then Grandpa Dawid.
