The Corsair 100R case is a decent one. I have the 200R, next step up...very nice. I don't know if you did this for dramatic effect, but an experienced builder, such as yourself, should certainly be aware of the difficulties involved in connecting the power supply CPU cable. That's why the smart thing to do, after installing the mobo, is to connect that cable, BEFORE you install the cooler. Much simpler.

Some cases have much better access, mid towers not so much.
When I built a new system in 2019, I put my old FX-8350 system in that exact case. Because of that "pretend front ventilation", I had to dremel out two 120mm fan mounts in that front panel. It's great now!

Dawid, i love your videos, your sense of humor is keeping me alive recently because my life is a mess lately and your sarcastic personality and great jokes are greatly appreciated! Cheers from some girl from Poland!
This PC build reminds me of the time I tried to replace the motherboard on a 2004 iMac - I’ve been bald since that experience. Too bad the “1000 watt” power supply crapped out. Oh well, I was going to suggest trying out the Nvidia 4090 on this system when it is released.
@DawidDoesTechStuff
Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about the Mac induced hair loss. 😂 I agree, I was really disappointed the PSU died. I did want to try it with a 3090 or 4090.
The scammers have moved to Temu and Amazon.
I actually have a 100R, but that's the quiet edition with the foam and fan switch on the back. Mine lacks those, but has an acrylic side panel. I needed something normal, cheap, that had optical drive bays when my Alienware toasted its lil power board internally, a quick, cheap, 'make it a normal desktop' kinda thing. And I DID have that issue with the CPU power cable.
Also i have the same cooler and its hard to remove. Figured out in the end that you can use screwdriver to push it out of the clip as you push it down with your other hand
Can I have the pc?
For years I've been using those tiny alcohol sachets you can buy on eBay for cleaning cpus, When i sell a motherboard i usually place one sachet in the socket to protect it and for the buyer to use on the cpu they are fitting - its definitely a smart idea ☺
Speaking of the "light" power supply, If the PSU weighs less than the board, CPU and memory combined, then you have a problem. But for 1000 watt power supply I would venture to say it's probably 50-60% efficient so you might get 500-600 watts on a good day. That is of course, if it doesn't catch fire when you load it up to 50% so around 500 watts worth of components. With respect to the motherboard CPU socket pins, I found that they can actually be more durable than people think. I mean you have to push something onto them to bend them, so something likely would have had to go through the box, which even pressing on it, or crushing it, probably wouldn't necessarily bend the pins. It would have to almost be a direct impact or force right over the socket as the metal plate does help protect them, and the piece of paper as well, despite them coming with plastic covers instead from the factory. (Yes I did bend a bunch of pins on an already-bad (dead) motherboard once to see how durable they were).
Bonus intro was WAY better! The next level creativity really showcased your style Dawid.
Hahaha -Awesome alternate intro Dawid!! ...i kinda wish, you'd gone with that!😆👍🏼
The ram came with the screws and driver used from the public library PC it was jacked out of, how nice of them!
Ah yes my favorite feature of cheap cases. Bendy rear IO frame, terrible cpu power cable routing, and no ventilation. Staples in all of my builds thus far.
Watched both vids and LOLed at the sketchy PSUs, can definitely say I liked yours better. Intro did not weird me out and wonder why the heck I was watching 3 guys trying to hype up some (probably) non existent thing. Heck you had 2 intros! and both were fun. PC aside your presentation had more personality and entertainment and not much b-roll with just music. Helps retain attention better. Also YOLOing the initial testing was just hilarious as you had to replace that PSU.
Hilarious watching you build it using that tiny screwdriver. I'd expect nothing less.
That intro you clipped in at the end was GODLIKE!
11:49 I like how Dawid smacking the top of the case coincidently caused video to bug out, lol

Dawid, The intro at the end was awesome You sure do have a way of splaining things. And you are my Go To channel Best Wishes, BigT.....Alaska
I have this exact motherboard still! I definitely played Fallout a lot with that build.
Dawid, you definitely should have stuck with the intro you showed at the end of the video! that was pure gold!!
3:20 there was linus tech tips video of them doing the same general video and the ram they got had screws too lol
I love your videos, man. Keep up the great work.
That cooler situation is EXACTLY the crap I had to go through with my dual Opteron motherboard. Yes. I had to do it twice.
I recognize that PSU. That's an OEM type PSU that people but by the truckload and rebrand, and it's very much not 1000W (550W IIRC). So yeah, ain't abnormal from Wish
I gotta say, surprisingly competent for a wish pc. Also, I liked the intro that you scrapped better than the real one XD
"AAH it's finally inn" -David does tech stuff 2022
I mean I have a 100R I bought back in 2016, it's a very quiet case but it has no airflow and you need to clean the intake once a week. But for a machine that lives in a common living space it is nice and quiet.
At 13:04, the exhaust fan had a hard time spinning up. Felt something sus with the power delivery.
14:56 actually its pretty decent mounting system for cheap coolers. to remove cpu without removing whole mounting system, you just need to unscrew middle socket screw.
As always an excellent video Dawid though if you are doing any more wish computer builds Id suggest keeping a very large fire extinguisher to hand.
