I built a PC with parts from Wish and somehow lived | Ashens

Ойын-сауық

I got this idea when Wish kept showing PC parts when I was sourcing items for the random videos. SPOILER: It was a stupid idea.
I managed to get all the parts from the mighty Wish.com with the exception of the case. But was the low-spec graphics card a fake, as shown on KZread with more expensive cards? SPOILER: Yes. Yes it was.
Oh well. At least I've got a potentially dangerous computer I can... er... put Linux on and use for editing Raspberry Pi SD card images...?

The pink bubble wrap cannot gather static, but doesn't protect the motherboard from discharge. Any decent motherboard will have the motherboard in a metal foiled plastic bag to protect it from discharge. In this case, they neither used pink bubble wrap NOR the foiled plastic bag xD

    4 жыл бұрын

@@hickey1292 CEX is horrible to buy from, they charge almost full retail price for used parts because they provide a warranty. You know what else comes with a warranty? Brand new parts. In general CEX are a horrible company, they buy for next to nothing then mark up to extortionate rates, they never offer you the full A price, everything is always B grade and recently they've been caught creating fake covers for old rare games so they can sell them for more money, and yeah I don't mean simply printing covers off the internet, I mean creating fake covers that never existed complete with trademarked logos and official markings for ERSB/ESA ratings that never existed as well. Anecdote: My brother bought a PS4 brand new, he plugged it in and played on it for about 2 hours then went back to his PC and never touched it again. It sat there for months untouched so he decided to take it into CEX. Immediately the lad behind the counter said "yeah that's B grade that" pretty much before he'd even touched it. I asked him to explain why and he said it was B grade because the box had a tiny tear in the corner where it had been opened. I pointed out that they offered more for A grade unboxed than B grade boxed and said we'd just keep the box and take the extra £10 and he initially refused to take it saying he couldn't because he'd seen the box. When we asked him to get his supervisor he agreed to accept it without a box and quoted the A grade price. We left it with them to test and returned in 30 minutes and immediately my brother was told the price he had been told was an "old price from before the system had updated" and that they could only offer him £10 less than what they quoted him. I asked them to explain and he said that every time an item is accepted for testing their computer contacts head office and asks for a price update and the price he initially quoted was "pre update". I called bullshit straight away and told my brother to take it back pointing out that they had loads of PS4s on display and not only were they all priced at the A grade price but also that none of them had been price altered by the system update. We took it to cash converters instead, they tested it Infront of us within 5 minutes, offered him more than CEX and paid him cash, we were out of the store in 10 minutes flat. They're scammers, plain and simple.

Though maybe there are CC shops out there with larger video game catalogues than the ones I've been to, so who knows, CEX may just suck in all aspects!

This computer might have been cutting edge a decade and a half ago, but times have changed. If a card has VGA, it's not going to be a 9xx series or later, because that's when nVidia stopped putting VGA analogue in the chipset. The 730 is about five years old, and not really high-powered anyway. A genuine 750 would be OK, but good luck finding one. I put a stack of 500 GB drives in a RAID array, and from that experience I would say Wish is definitely over-priced. Today I bought a 750 GB drive from my local Cex branch for £18, and that's a High Street shop.
