There are a lot of great “what if” scenarios in the UFC. What if Masvidal never landed the knee, what if Chael didn’t get caught in the triangle, what if Tony and Khabib fought, what if the horse Overeem ate wasn’t taking steroids, and so on. But I think what if Petr Yan didn’t land the Illegal knee is my favorite. I never would have expected for events to turn out like this. From crybaby champ to one of the best in the divisions history is crazy, especially when considering when the former champ who everyone was talking so highly about as being the next great is on a losing streak. Crazy how one action can impact the sport in such a big way.

Aljo proved me wrong, congrats to him. It was a hell of a performance, he stuffed most of Henry’s takedowns and out striked him
I love the video but I'm the guy who's still doubting Aljamain. I had Cejudo winning the fight and Derek "Seeing Not So" Cleary scoring the fifth round for Aljo should go down as an all time botched scorecard. Taking down Cejudo is quite a feather in the cap but what did he actually do with those takedowns? Something about sitting on all fours trying to bait a knee on the ground after a failed takedown attempt doesn't sit right with me. He has earned my respect surely but it will take a dominant performance against O'Malley to earn my support.
this isn't a Rocky Balboa movie, Aljamain is consistent not explosive, he is gonna be the top of bantamweight for a very long time
I was truly not a fan of Aljo, I never scratched the surface with him until it was too late. He was marketed terribly from the beginning, I blame the UFC for his lack of promotion. He turned out to be a really great guy, in & out of the octagon. I'll definitely be tuning in to his fights.
I mean all he could do after the ridiculous way he got the belt is exactly what he is doing now, he's proving everyone wrong it's pretty awesome to see. And I definitely doubted him too.

If he moves up to featherweight and win the belt too, then no doubt he is the P4P best. He should be on the cover for the next UFC game, UFC 5.
theres still some doubt about him as a great champion because his 4 championship fights were 2 split decisions, an illegal knee and a 1-armed opponent but what everyone can agree on is that he is a great fighter with the skills of a champion. he has proven to us that hes a championship level fighter
well i dont know why this was just recommended to me now
Should’ve made this after the O’Malley fight but great vid
the decisions with yan and cejudo shouldn’t have been split, close but clear dubs for aljo. give him his flowers.
When the debacle of Aljo vs Yan happened and it seemed that Aljo was acting the part I was turned off an was the opposite of a fan. I wanted nothing more but to see him lose. But Aljo show and proved, over and over.... and over again. I can't deny I've became a fan, the hard way. Organically he's made me a believer. I'm also a Suga fan so this fight is huge in my eyes and I think the whole fighting world's.
I had Cejudo 48-47 But it’s fair to say we should give Aljo respect, and he easily beats Suga in their upcoming bout. The way Aljo can take your back and just maintain that control is something special. His striking also isn’t bad but his wrestling will do the job in that fight.

Sterling has won 11 of his last 12. It’s not a fluke, he is one of the greatest BW's in the history of the UFC. He also landed more strikes and more takedowns and did more damage than Cejudo.
people need to realize that this is what dominance is going to look like in MMA going forward....MMA has evolved so much and fighters are soo good that pretty soon all top fighters will be winning their fights narrowly, the days of people being so ahead of the curve that they just steamroll through everyone are coming to an end.

My only probably with aljo is that he just drops to his knees because he know he don’t have to worry about knees or kicks. I get he’s exploiting it but it’s like come on something has to change about that
People like to discredit Aljo by saying his wins aren’t dominant, split decisions, and he beat an injured TJ But what they fail to realize is that Aljo isn’t lucky it all. He actually has some pretty bad luck. His first 3 title defenses were all against nightmare matchups for his fighting style, and we know that styles make fights on top of all of his opponents being former champions Yan, TJ and Cejudo are horrible matchups for Aljo, so him getting split decision wins in the most competitive and stacked division in the UFC on top of those wins being against nightmare matchups is actually insane As for TJ, Aljo’s bicep was also torn going into that fight, they both came in with injured arms. TJ’s arm was compromised but it wasn’t dislocated until after Aljo took him down. That and what led to the takedown had nothing to do with TJ’s arm in the first place If we talk injuries, nobody talks about how Aljo had a torn bicep and a neck that recently had surgery when he fought TJ. And besides TJ commentators, nobody talks about how Cejudo was putting pressure on Aljo’s neck for a good majority of his control time but Aljo still pulling through and winning

bud your point makes no sense this guy bitches about his neck every fight for years its bs hes fine tj fought him with a dislocated shoulder and aljo couldnt finish him and aljo was trash then he beat henry who hasnt fought in like 4 years guy is a clown and how he acts doesnt help
You totally missed the period between the yan rematch where sterling was out for surgery and was being accused of holding on to the title and avoiding Yan. Sterling was also playing to the critics and being a heel while he was out on injury.
now they talkin bout “oh cejudo came back 3 years later it doesn’t count”, when aljo beats o malley it’s gonna be that “ohhh o malley never faced top level comp”, when he loses to volk everyone’s gon clown him, he’s gonna be one of the greats that everyone clowns on for no reason i guarantee it. i’m a big aljo fan and i hate seeing people dickride like that
Now I'm just waiting for a video about Belal Mohammed
I dont see how Henry won. Henry got one minute more control time but Aljo got more strikes, more significant strikes and more takedowns. How is a fight to be judged if not by the stats?
Honest question will be if aljamain sterling legitimately finish o' malley or another top five opponent with a k'o or a submission win will that victory be enough for aljamain sterling to be taken seriously or will he forever be disrespected?

last fight made me doubt him more lul
Dq, petr yan without his corner, one armed tj dillashaw and robbed henry cejudo
Yeah i dont think he silenced many doubters at all. Most people left thinking the same they thought going into that fight. And if you cant get your own backyard to cheer for you after you defended your belt thats saying a lot.
I've been an Aljo fan for a long time. I hope that the haters keep LOSING THEIR MONEY betting against him.
Except he didn't really. Let's recount, he won the belt off Yan via DQ and took a year off, beat Yan in a rematch that could of gone either way, beat a 1-arm TJ who he couldn't finish in the first even though he had top control and all TJ could do was defend with 1 arm and then he beat Cejudo who had not fought in 3 years and was noticeably smaller by split decision that could of also gone either way. I think Aljo is among the top 3 BWs for sure and the fact he's cleared most of the top guys in his division is amazing. Yes, Aljo deserves credit but don't make it seem like he's Jon Jones who came back after 3 years and almost ripped Gane's head off lol.

He took a year of to get surgery on his neck He beat Yan, a nightmare matchup for Aljo, counters his style, and Yan’s style is heavily reliant on taking early rounds off to analyze data from his opponent and had basically 4 rounds of data to work with going into the second fight which is why he started uncharacteristically aggressively He beat TJ who’s on paper another nightmare matchup while Aljo himself also had an injured arm (torn bicep) that needed either surgery or stem cells, and a neck that had surgery on it He beat Cejudo who’s *another* nightmare matchup for him and hard counters Aljo’s style on top of putting pressure on Aljo’s injured neck early on

S/o Verdict!
Newish to UFC here so I could be missing the mark but, UFC fans are fiercely defensive of their favorites, so a DQ win was never gonna benefit Aljo even if he was dominating the first fight. Maybe UFC should adapt WWE esque clause (Titles cant change hands via DQ)? Or atleast strip the champion, to ensure that a championship's intergrity is kept. That way a person clearly losing a fight doesn't have incentive to sell the illegal move, and the champion doesn't get credit for using an illegal move to defend their title.
No joke three min in I forgot who the vid is about. The flyweight is an interesting weight class lol.
The Yan 2 fight was a robbery. Aljo “won” by split decision because 2/3 judges scored the first round 10-9 in his favor. HOW?!? Yan controlled the center of the ring the entire round, Aljo was on his heels scrambling around the edge in order to avoid engaging. Yan didn’t “dominate” the round or anything but he clearly won it. Yan won the fight winning 2 out of 3 rounds: (1)10/9, (2)9/10, (3)9/10, (4)10/9, (5)10/9 Glad this fraud got his ass TKO’d against Sugar
