At UFC 292, Sean O'Malley captured the bantamweight championship from Aljamain Sterling. A very familiar rise to one of the most iconic athlete in sports history - Conor Mcgregor.

I don’t think there will ever be another guy like Conor McGregor. What he did for the game was just incredible, he made people that never watched the UFC start watching it. It’s the reason why the UFC is what it is and why there’s so much casual fans because Conor brought them with him.

The weeks leading up and the closer it got, it seriously did feel like fate. It felt like it was just O'Malley's time which I never felt before a fight. I picked O'Malley via early TKO/KO and my friend thought I was crazy. But what's crazy is O'Malley is now Champion and won the fight the exact way Conor did. And we have a Nurmogomedov coming up in BW just like how Khabib was coming up in LW. Will Sean vs Umar be the next Khabib vs Conor? If so.. will it result in a different outcome where the Dagestani doesn't win.

Also, Aljo is a wrestler, he knows that when you get knocked down you go for the legs immediately, but he stayed on the floor like a little pancake. I thought Suga had no chance of winning. Then again I had him down as no chance of beating Yan. Suga is super impressive to accomplish what he's accomplished.

Ben Askren's face @4:40 had me dying, he knows it too, everyone hated aljo. At least the Casuals did.. I liked him. He was a good guy, and a great fighter. Still lost that rematch with petr yan tho

Crazy that a guy who's taller than any current ranked LW other than Dan & Jalin is fighting at BW. If Sean keeps improving, he has the physical attributes to be a double champ. All it would take is for Volkanovski to permanently vacate 145 after beating Ilia, & Omalley to beat Cheeto and he could fight for a vacant FW title against Max Holloway mid 2024. A reach advantage is to a technical striker what a weight cut advantage is to a wrestler. Max is getting old (a win over TKZ doesn't say much after the damage he took vs Volk) and Sean has a similar striking skillset to Yair who turned Max into a wrestler. The weight cut might've caught up to Aljo, but if Sean wins his next fight, I see his momentum being near unstoppable at 135 or 145 at least for the next year or two (only Corey & Umar could really give him problems at 135 & only Ilia, Max & Yair at 145).
