I remember before he left the ufc when he was called mmas Mike Tyson. I actually watched his first fight back against Josh koscheck live when ronda rousey was the main event. Never stopped rooting for the guy. Hall of fame career for sure

When you look at it Robbie Lawler was far less likely. Everyone always has a punchers chance and Serra was on a show that gave you a title shot if you won lol. Oliveira isn’t as surprising as Lawler due to talent, but both are up there. Serra upset was massive, but not as unlikely as Lawler.

The most entertaining champion in welterweight history, the greatest title fight in history and in my personal opinion the greatest moment in MMA history (the staredown with Rory). The legend of Robbie Lawler will never die. WAR ROBBIE!!!

Lawler in my opinion will be a hall of famer in the modern wing next year , so happy that fight with Rory MacDonald finally got inducted into Fight Wing was waiting years for that to happen. Greatest career resurgence in Welterweight history man took 13 years to become champ and that comeback had incredible fights against Matt Brown and Johny Hendricks and even better fights in his title reign facing MacDonald and Condit.

Thank you. Lawler has such a storied career across multiple organizations. Hard to believe he made his UFC debut in May 2002 at UFC 37.

Robbie Lawler was an absolute monster that was coming for your soul ..

After he lost the title, something happened with him. Was it confidence maybe? He wasn't the same. I was so frustrated many times in his fights after that when he backed down and never pulled the trigger. Frankie Edgar is my favorite fighter of all time. The 2 had something in common. Didn't flap their gums, just went in there and put on a show. Always entertaining. Congrats Robbie!

Its because he has been to many wars and took so much damage that he just didnt wanna have to fight like that again even his interviews after that he just hoped for a quick knockout at this point because he knows his chin isnt what it used to be anymore
