    Just had my springs, shocks and struts down in my ‘03 MGM LS. Sits really high. I’m getting all kind of crap that it looks jacked up. So the springs really settle? Nice video and thanks for sharing

  • @JimmyMakingitwork

    @JimmyMakingitwork

    Yeah, they’ll settle an inch or two. As long as they are correct for the application it should go to normal height soon. Thanks for watching!

    I have one almost just like it. About a year ago I put new upper and lower loaded moog control arms on and did the alignment myself since I own some somewhat primitive alignment equipment. For whatever reason, with about 5-6 degrees of caster I can't obtain neutral or 0 degree camber. One side I can get a lot of negative camber and the other side I can get a lot of positive camber. I made sure the control arms and ball joints are on the correct side. I had to settle in the middle for about 1.25 degree negative camber and set the toe as close to 1/16" in total as best as I could. What could be the issue with the camber? the springs are original and were in good shape and the ride height is good. I'd really like to get closer to .5 degree negative camber on each side as it looks pretty goofy when you look at the car head on looking at the tires but drives great overall otherwise. The car also has never been in an accident or shows any sign of frame or suspension damage at all.

    That is interesting, I'd be curious what it looks like on a full on modern alignment machine before I get too far into it. It is possible that one of the arms isn't quite right? You have the sliding upper ball joint style suspension? Sometimes on those I'll unload the front end to make adjustments if that's the case. Keep in mind YT doesn't send me notifications for replies, only comments. :)

    @@rickcucci6839 For whatever reason I can not obtain 0 degree camber and 5-6 degree positive caster like I could with my original control arms. I wound up with 0.7 - camber and 3-3.5 degrees positive caster if I remember right. Drives well and no tire wear issues so good enough, tired of messing with it.

    So for the camber we have to put em on the jacks?

  • @JimmyMakingitwork

    It helps to have the suspension unloaded, making the adjustments much easier to tune in. With weight on the suspension special tools help, but it's still harder to do.
