I would have to disagree, not necessarily the song but that an acoustically backed version doesn't suit her style. her default singing voice is noticeably higher than Morissette's so I think she needs a meatier sound than what an acoustic guitar can provide to balance it out

@@theseventhnight I agree she's got a meatier sound, maybe I am just biased because I prefer Violets vocals to Alanis but I feel both have a certain style and Violet adapting to the song but also adding her own spin makes it a good cover. Good input tho.

@@jacobriddell4917 Yeah she sings it fantastically and i would dare say from a technical stand point that she is vocally flawless. I just think something heavier and with a bit more bass would compliment Violet's voice for this song better than an acoustic guitar. I wouldn't even say that i particularly prefer Morrissette's version. it's possibly the first cover i've heard so i would dare say it's a little strange to hear a version without Morrissette's vocals but that's probably because i'm old enough to remember when it was in the charts and on the radio all the time so that might be my bias lol

You really nailed the hate that flows through this song.

Imo, this is one of your strongest covers! Absolutely beautiful job

I'm going through covers of this to see which ones are really good... This is one of them. People forget that what is good about this song isn't SOUNDING like Alanis, it's sounding like the raw pain that is expressed in the song in your own way. And then others just try to sing it pretty without realising that a song is more than a pretty vocal. You broke this down into it's basic pieces and left your own impression on it. Very, very well done.

Colossal performance - you were singing with all of your body and soul. You always generate immense power, but this is a primal shout ; a scream of outrage and pain at a betrayal so deep it's astonishing that the purity and power of your voice isn't compromised. The 'blood-spattered' top is a brilliant touch; as though you'd been slaughtering small creatures to create a malevolent hex!

Why isn't this Artist top twenty? Very talented.

This one is one of my favourites of you because you can hear almost every range of your voice from belting to almost whispering that's the variety that I am looking for when I listen to music awesome job Violet❤️

I've always been a fan of the song by Alanis. Fellow Canadian, always had a good feeling in my soul. You knocked that out of the park! Gave my soul shivers. Thank you, Violet. Made my day better.

Don't get me wrong at all. I love First to Eleven. And I understand and respect their decision to not cus in there songs... but I was confused as to why they decided to cover this song then. Because that line is sooo powerful. It's like the centerpiece. That being said. You f...nailed it girl!! You gave so much anguish and truth but put your personal touch. Made it so personal. I hate covers that are just carbon copies. You made this song yours. I saw YOU. Like what Trent said about Johnny Cash.

I hear you, personally I liked F211's version, because leaving out that one word still let it hang in the air, you knew what it was, and that made it more powerful (to me personally). I hadn't ever heard the original song before I saw their cover so I assumed that's just how it was. However, F211's Killing in the Name was musically brilliant, but it left out the entire core climax to the song, which I felt was ardently disappointing. I believe they did do a recent song though that did have a swear word in it, so maybe they've changed policy.

When I heard the original on the radio back in the day they would sometimes play a bomb-blast sound effect in place of the cuss.
