I’ll tell you I nearly DIED hearing the instrumental arrangement to this song in Bridgerton! 💀 Now we are getting THE Alanis Morissette herself singing to said instrumental! This will be noted in my will that I want this version played at my funeral! 👏🏽

Agreed. A very good point. I also felt that, after re-listening to the original version of “You Oughta Know” by Ms Morissette, the singer sounded outraged and extremely wounded about her lover abandoning her. The anger and rage that the singer made me feel was extraordinary. The new version with soft violins and a very emotional but quieter vocal performance made me feel wounded and deeply hurt. I cried after listening to both versions of this song by one of the most gifted singers EVER. ♥️

The first time I heard this song I had been cheated on by a boyfriend and was vacuuming with headphones on. I turned the vacuum off when I registered what she was saying and my 15 year old mind opened up to the idea of being able to finally express my frustration and anger knowing that someone else felt that way too. It still feels good all these years later to hear this and remember venting with this so many times over the years. I love this version and that she did this. Bittersweet memories for sure.

During my freshman year, in my dorm, living on the top floor, and this unknown person played Jagged Little Pill for weeks, the whole album, at lease twice a day. And me, steeped in the old greats, a gift from mom, R&B, Hip Hop and Rap, Classic Rock, and a sprinkle of the ever growing POP music? I get lost in the world of irony, rejection, seeing through guys who wanted to "Play golf with my ass," imagining "head-over-feet," and throwing the peace sign. Ah-Alanis Morrisette. -upon waking, getting ready for my first class, and when I returned, at twilight, to relax. Thank you, whoever you are. Thx, for giving me this life soundtrack for free, or at least until I relented and went to buy the CD, because I knew every word by then. Good to re-associated it with Bridgerton.

All the drama, passion, hurt, projected in such a hauntingly beautiful way. One feels it all! So glad you are realized once again since your first recording of this song, 28 years ago! The instrumental background only adds to the whole package.
