The fact that he heard the songs, and his first thought was, "oh no I really hurt her," rather than, "Oh no she is making me look bad," proves he at least has empathy.

@@allnamesaretakenful I don’t know the nature of their relationship. I know that Alanis Morrisette wrote a song about a previous relationship she had with a man in the 90s and we all assume that every lyric from that song is fact. It’s a song, not a deposition. She even pointed out that she was never really angsty. She just wrote that song because she was mad at the time but never meant to have a lifetime of animosity, etc. Interestingly, I think "Your House" was also written about Dave. I don't know if it's common, especially today. But, there's certainly a point with many people who look back on their first true HURT, and are able with the big assist of time to see that much of it was NOT malicious, no matter how much so it felt many years ago. Maybe we were young and there was some "games" involved. But, I no longer feel they wished me to hurt the way I did. For me, it was a simple matter of it was the wrong TIME. And I hadn't had the chance to become what I needed to be for that to work. And 20 years? Totally worth the wait. Sometimes it takes time to show how REAL something truly is.

I really respect her more as an artist because of how he's speaking about her. She's able to keep her professional life and personal life together but separate and she let him talk about the relationship however he wanted while being a good person the while time. She tore him to shreds in that song and he's still being a nice guy about it too, even realizing he hurt her. It kind of sounds like he didn't know how much she liked him but he had ought to I guess, lol. I like him more for this interview too, I wish all celebrities were like this. Ive heard him tell the story about his sister before which back then he told it as an example of how he was on good terms with Alanis. Which at the time I thought, "her relationship with your sister is not about you". Him asking her how she would like him to respond, shows why he was usually quick to change the subject. I love that album and its follow-up. I have been in both sides of their relationship in my personal life and even though I previously was the hurt one who cared too much, I still found myself not seeing when i was dating someone that did for me and caused them more hurt than i ever intended, I also like how he didn't indulge the movie theater story. I agree that I wish more artists would be this open like this. I now want to know where else on the album, he heard aspects of their relationship discussed. I appreciate an artists want to not give away all the details in fear it may make a song less meaningful to others, although when the art comes from real stories, I love hearing what those are.

This song came out 2 weeks after I found out the love of my life was engaged, to the girl that was introduced to me as "just a friend". 4 years with me, and only 4 months with her, and he was ready to marry. When I found out he was engaged, it literally brought me to my knees. I was at a friend's house, when I first heard it, as the radio station premiered it. It was like a punch in the gut. Before this song, there weren't any hurt and angry breakup songs by women. There were hurt songs, sad songs, it just didn't work out kind of songs, I'll always love you songs, maybe we can fix this songs. But nothing like this. This song gave me permission to be angry, rather than just devastated. Nearly 3 decades later and I'm still not over him.

@@katiejon17 I was 23. 3 years later they finalized their divorced. He eventually remarried, and had 2 sons. He died, a decade ago, of pancreatic cancer. I didn't find out about the divorce and second wife until he was dead. The first night I finally let my friends drag me out to try to have fun was about a year after he ended it. Happened to run into 2 of his friends, who lived on the other side of the country, so I was shocked to see them. Hugs all around. It was good to see them. Until I asked why they were home and they had to tell me they had just come from his wedding. That was a bad, bad night. I never spoke to him again, and shortly thereafter moved 10 states away just to get away from everything. Cut all ties with my entire friend group to avoid having to hear about him. We had been the anchor couple. All of his friends and all of my friends started hanging out together, several of them started dating. When he ended it, it was like a bomb went off for the whole group. One of my friends said, "If you two couldn't make it, what hope do the rest of us have?" One of his friends confronted him and told him he was making the biggest mistake of his life. This whole damn album just reminds me of him. This song because of it's message, and the hidden track, particularly, because she knows she's been replaced and she's grieving. None of it matters anymore to anyone but me.

It’s not about him or anyone in particular. She has stated that in an interview … can’t recall who interviewed her but I think Pink was in the show too. No just looked it up it was Julia Styles, but also she has said it on Howard Stern show.
There was a moment in time where this was the only song I'd ever heard of hers and knew who it was about. And it was just like, "is that Flea?" .
The hole in the popcorn box trick from Diner w Mickey Rourke (1982) great movie and made stars of Guttenberg, Daly, Rourke, Bursten and Daniel Stern aka the Wet Bandit from Home Alone. Bacon was in it too but already known from Animal House.
I'm glad it went South, because we were blessed with one of the best alternative records in history

@@tru3sk1ll Not saying much. 95 was a horrible year for music.
Wow I had no idea....after all these years.
Dang Joey looking pretty good for himself!
Inspiration for two of her best songs, in my book. "Hands Clean" is the more impactful version of the relationship. It's a haunting, peppy, hypnotic song. What part of our history is reinvented and under rug swept?

was Hands Clean about him as well? That's the one people really need to be talking about.

It probably isn't, that one is supposedly about someone who was involved in her musical career
Hey, just imagine how Sally feels when Clapton wrote that song.
And too his credit, he asked her what she wanted him to say if asked. Because for a long time - she refused to say who she wrote the song about because as she said on the Stern show "I didn't right it to reciminate him" (and in that same Stern show - they implied that Stamos was the one that told them) But now that Alannis basically told Dave that she did not mind him talking about it, so he could admit publicly all that fan-hate had the right target.
Uncle Joey is bad ass.
Hes a real gentleman
Dave looking suave af.
Great question Sayum from Nuw Yurk!
What a classy guy
I still can’t believe that song was about him lmao. He’s a hilarious guy and not bad looking but I just think of him as Uncle Joey from Full House.
Killer final question lmaoo
I had no idea Dave has such blue eyes! Very attractive!
