Air Traffic Controller - A Career In Aviation

Ғылым және технология

A career as an air traffic controller is all about ensuring the safe movement of aircraft.
It’s an exciting role in the aviation industry but it requires people with certain skills and knowledge. These include concentration skills, attention to detail, good judgement and decision making, ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure, complex problem-solving skills and being able to think clearly and logically.
Most important of all, excellent communication skills.
This film features Air Traffic Controller, Dayle Russell, who works at St Helena Airport in the South Atlantic and Kruger Mpumalanga International in South Africa.
Dayle tells us about the challenges and rewards that come with her job, and allows our cameras into the control tower at St Helena Airport to observe the weekly flight operations for the Airlink E90 aircraft.

A mini-documentary on the hospital/clinic on St. Helena island showing the various wards, theatres, TB Clinic, pharmacy etc. would be appreciated. Also interviews with medical personnel would be fantastic.

Hi Mehl, great suggestion 👍 it would certainly be a useful film for people, we get a number of questions via WTSDN about healthcare services. If a film like this was to be commissioned we would definitely enjoy making it 😊

Hey Radley, do you mean grass around the airport? The landscape is generally pretty volcanic/barren, grass not really much of a problem that we're aware of. 😃 But maybe Michael can add something different 👍😊 Thanks for checking out the video.

Just based on a quick google search (19 Nov '22), this info may be useful: "An entry level airport air traffic controller (1-3 years of experience) earns an average salary of R226,802. On the other end, a senior level airport air traffic controller (8+ years of experience) earns an average salary of R407,644." www.salaryexpert.com/salary/job/airport-air-traffic-controller/south-africa/durban ATNS would probably be a good place to check for more accurate information.
