Don't get me wrong I'm a massive fan of rickys. He is an absolute genius. But when u have seen all the office, extras, derek and these outtakes loads and he acts the same u start to be a bit cynical about whether or not he's putting it on a bit. Especially when Martin Freeman said he loved to destroy a scene on purpose. It would do my head in a bit. U are a professional ricky plus u wrote it u know what's coming, just let them do their lines without that stupid exaggerated laugh 😂 sorry, rant over 😂

Its a mixture of improv and also the delivery of the lines. Writing a joke is one thing, but if it's not delivered well it will fall flat. Bit like how Amy Schumer steals funny jokes yet makes them bad.

It's happening just as I said it would...the healing phase of being "scared to death" is pneumonia, aka "flu". Ricky isn't laughing at the jokes, it's the way the actors deliver the jokes he's written. That means the actors are doing a wonderful job at it.

Brian is absolutley BRILLIANT - "let's watch the chase" is simply a great line and the timing is perfection. Genius!

Ricky really knows talent when he sees it. It's so awesome that he gives opportunities to lesser known comedians and gives them a chance to just improvise and really show case their talent.

David Earl is just hilarious. I dont know how anyone got through his scenes.

That Rain Man line is superb 🤣

This is one of my favorite series of all time. I was not prepared for the heart and depth it had. I was crying in each episode and was absolutely wrecked in the finale, sobbing with snot and everything. Lots of cussing but so tender and Ricky’s performance was perfect - funny, emotional, thoughtful, powerful. Loved it!

He just doesn't find himself amusing enough, if you listen to his podcast, you'll get the full picture of the guy. Funnily enough he also don't like very rude or obscene jokes/stories, at least at Gossipmongers he was always the first one who tapped out. For what it's worth I think he should give himself as much love as audience does because his portraiture of Brian is gold.

The best part for me was Joe apologizing for breaking character, cutting to Ricky who's litteraly on the floor laughing.

If David Earl improvs a lot of his lines he's an absolutely genius. How he comes out with this time and time again I'll never know.

The show without Brian would not be the same! Ricky's outtakes are the best, Derek and After Life's bloopers never fail to make me laugh!

I love the outtakes where you can only hear Ricky’s hilarious laugh but he’s not even in shot😂🤣 Ricky is a comedic genius, Afterlife is outstanding; all spectrums of emotion shown in a relatable, heartbreaking, wholesome way🥰

what comes across in all of these for me, is how professional everyone is. Outrageous lines people are saying and the actors just roll with it. very well casted. Clearly a degree od "free-basing" - letting the actors bring more to the character. This is why it feels so polished, like a family in the finished article.. Hugely enjoyable.

Ricky has to he the hardest person to work with in a way because he laughs so much. His laugh is so contagious. My side was hurting from laughing at Ricky laughing. 🤣🤣🤣

David Earl and the other guy “James” should have their own show, can’t stop laughing 😂

I’m so glad my hometown (Hemel Hempstead) is forever immortalised and associated with this show, it’s where the Tambury gazette building is and all the high street shots are. I’m proud that it’s now forever linked to a masterpiece like Afterlife

And Beaconsfield. From 2:40 I had the honour of watching these takes/outtakes live after I had finished work. Was pretty cool to see them all in person. It’s crazy how many takes go into a small scene when creating these shows. I was watching David Earl dry hump the air and saying missionary for a good 45 minutes before I decided to head home lmao.

Well when you add in The office, Extras, Derek and the various movies it is even more surprising. I think his secret is…he has people in his projects that he likes, gets on with and who tolerate his constant laughing because they recognise his genius. What I don’t get is how a man -who can be quite banal - is also extremely switched onto the human condition and can switch from writing the foulest jokes to the most deep and meaningful observations of humans and life. Derek is my favourite of all. I cried in nearly every episode either from laughter at the funny bits or from a deep pain in my heart at the poignant bits. People still talk about Fawlty Towers, yet those same people probably never saw Ricks work, because they need visual laughs and catch phases.

@@PetroicaRodinogaster264 yes I was exactly the same, he goes from calling someone a c*nt to having the most deepest and saddest conversations he truly is a very talented man when it comes to writing. My nan went through Dementia and he managed to find the innocent and funny side to such a serious condition and it helped with my grief. I think afterlife has helped so many people when it comes to death and grief and am honoured to have existed at the same time as Ricky and his content

I can literally watch an hour of this I can't stop laughing, also I love how Ricky is the one who ruins almost every scene by laughing even though it's his own show 😂😭

Bloopers with Ricky's laugh just hit different... It's a comedy show on its own, love it!

Ricky is SO FORTUNATE to have worked with such amazingly funny people in this already incredible show.

Ricky is such a blessing on the world. Everything he does is so frikkin' funny, smart and timeless. What a genius.

Been waiting for these since I finished the series - they did not disappoint.

David Earl is absolutely brilliant!

I would love to work with Ricky. He's so natural and proves that this is exactly what would happen if you had to sit through these hilarious scenes. I'd crack up every time too

NO WAY I COULD WORK W RICKY!! 80% of the outtakes are bc his fantastic laugh comes blasting out. You can’t hear him laugh and not laugh yourself.

I love this. I love Ricky. I wish I could live in his circle, his world, his universe, and just laugh every day. 😅

Whenever I am feeling despondent due to depression, this makes me belly laugh out loud. Of course, as soon as it's over I still feel very low, however, I've discovered my ability to smile again just by thinking of Ricky and David cracking him up.

The way Ricky said "Don't apologise" because he knows it's normal to laugh to a hilariously delivered punch line.

It’s like Ricky has never heard any of the dialogue before. He gets so tickled by the story 😂
