Yes! My thoughts exactly! And they were great together as Kev and Dougie. It's a shame Karl felt like he didn't belong on the set with such experienced performers. He was perfect in his role, and he wasn't just playing himself. A version of himself, maybe, but he did really well. Alas.

@@annika_panicka Ricky was totally open to having a bigger role for Karl - but Karl was not interested. In fact all his scenes were shot together at the start of the shoot for series 1. He declined to return for subsequent seasons.

David Earl re does the scene (after causing everyone else to corpse) with new dialogue almost every time, making them corpse all over again. He is a genius and massively underrated.

The caravan scene is legendary it’s absolutely incredible 😂😂😂😂

Would you believe me if I say that I watch this daily? I watched After life first and wanted to know who played Brian. Then I discovered Kev from Derek and I finished Derek 2 weekends back! David Earl deserves a separate show for himself.

The truth is, when you look at his stupid face, you get funny vibes, but you NEVER get the payoff of a laugh. This man is a genius. I love him. This man is the funniest human alive. I just watched this 3 times back to back and uncontrollably laughed through every time. Absolutely amazing!!!!

The way david just change the "script" on the go between a blopper is insane. He says one thing, they laugh. He say a totally different thing, they laugh. And it just keep going. Its just hilarious.

David Earl is incredible at just saying the most insane and bizarre things, I have never laughed so hard at a character before. Absolutely unbelievable 😂😂😂

David Earl is just so funny, his timing and persona in character is genuinely some of the best comedy work I’ve ever seen. He pulls off being a complete degenerate pervert while staying completely charming and lovable. Between his improv and Ricky and others losing it laughing this is one of my daily go to videos now. Thanks for putting this together for us man. Pure comedy gold.

15:00 is a good example why it would be so hard to keep a straight face working opposite him, that adlib style, changing little things each time, would make it so hard.
