African Night Crawlers bin ingredients, all species worm bin. Loads of tips TheGardenAndWormLady.com

The African nightcrawlers are returning in August. I’m getting their home ready less showing you other tips and tricks. Below is my amazon list of products I use for my wormery. If you shop through the links it gives me a small commission and doesn't cost you extra. The trick is you can't leave the items in your cart sitting. Amazon only gives me a commission if you put the stuff in your cart and purchase right away. I don't know if others know that. Thank you for supporting my channel.

You are so sweet! Thank you I try to make my videos, not look so much like a “commercial “ I love educating. You have no idea the suggestions or not I have gotten through the years from other big worm farmers 😅 “why you give away that secret” etc I always tell them I’m here to raise Worms and sell so I can also make a living . I’ve been doing that for 22 years. But I’m also here to educate. 😅

I ordered the dual purpose shredder that shreds both cardboard & paper. Still one of my top buys from Amazon. I'm a rebel composter so tons of items end up in my various compost piles. The pile that was a mix of year old composted leaves, pine needles, grass, egg shells & fruit scraps from juicing has been my go to for my red wigglers. And YES I am excited for you to get more African nightcrawlers. I might try them. ( I could also watch AV's time-lapse too :D )

For grit, I use greensand. Greensand contains potassium in mineral form, which can leach out for plants over time. I mix alfalfa pellets with soy meal and hydrate them with compost tea. The first couple times I did this, the material would go through a heat cycle. Afterward I would feed it to the worms. Lately, the material doesn't heat up anymore. Instead, there is a mycelium bloom on it. The worms eat it either way. But preparing the food ahead of time prevents if from heating up the worm bin.

I don't know what your heating fuel is but we use ventless gas or propane heaters in rooms that need to be warmer than the rest of the house. We have natural gas and these heaters don't dry out the air in the room. Very efficient and they have a thermostat to set your desired temp. Might be a good option for the ANC. They are far safer than space heaters and they mount on the wall.

Our house is just electric heating. We don’t have gas lines here where I live. I live way out in the middle of nowhere. Usually the heat does a good job but every once in a while when we get those 10 to 20 below zeros I have a space heater that I put in there with them, but I spend the day with them. I never leave it alone and it does the job.

That tool could would be great for Cutting your boxes Into 5" wide strips so you can run them through a shredder that takes cardboard. I have One that makes a whole cardboard Box i(cut n strips) and makes it into the little tiny pieces. I think you're going to find it's too much work to make a lot of bedding with that tool. But it would work for the 1st part of the job. I have a cross cut 12 sheet shredder that works great on cardboard.

Not very many could live in there because they are pretty big worms. When I do sell them it will be only the worms not the bedding. What I am thinking of selling the bedding is probably the Everybody live in bin, the bin that has all the worms mixed in.
