African Night Crawlers bedding 🫣TheGardenAndWormLady.com

I never should have mixed all the alfalfa. A few days later I smelled horrid. I’m going to continue feeding alfalfa on the surface only. It would have been a great experiment but I couldn’t handle the smell.

    Add compost to your bedding and the worms won't run on you. They'll go straight for that and find happiness.

    Do they take any type of heat, as I live in South Carolina and I have my farms in the garage, which is not cooled, the main bedding stays about 80 or so, can they survive?

  • @TheGardenAndWormLady

    @TheGardenAndWormLady

    Yes they can survive at 80° they just can’t go above 90, above 90 they’ll struggle. You’re lucky you have the warmth.

    Hi, Vee! You know I have that little worm bin that's shoebox size, but it's a tower so there are several trays to it. I love it in my kitchen. Do you know how many Louisiana swamp worms would be comfortable as a maximum amount in that size of a bin? God bless you! Keep up the good work.Please let me know when you are going to be selling the African night crawlers.

    @@TheGardenAndWormLady In My little kitchen bin, I just need them to eat whatever I throw in there. It's kind of handled a little different than the other bins. How much would you feed 10 African night crawlers, regardless of the size of the bin? How much could they eat in a week?

    I have blue worms from uncle jims worm farm. If anyone knows u dont really get red wigglers from him like what is advertised. Ne ways my point here is my blues dont try to run even if i turn the lights off or before a storm. In the beginning I only had trouble when i misted the top layer. i had maybe 5 worms escape when i first got them. Now that i made bedding that they love. they never try to run anymore at all

    Usually mine stay put but sometimes I get some African nightcrawlers that are a little stubborn. Luckily none of them one running. I had blues many years ago and I still get calls from people wanting me to breed them and sell only blues

    hi i was thinking about starting a vermi bag with african night crawlers outside (south florida) in some shade. do you think that will be too hot for them? also i have a ton of dried oak leafs i mulched and i was thinking of making the bedding oak leafs a bag of kow manure compost its a yellow bag i get at lowes. and some coco coir too. would i need to feed them scrap veg still or can i just keep adding layers of this mix?

  • @TheGardenAndWormLady

    @TheGardenAndWormLady

    I think it will be OK if you keep them in the shade and make sure they remain moist. If you feed the compost of manure in the yellow bag, you have to come posted for a week before you give it to the Worms. You could give you a worm food scraps and leaves and cardboard.
