Activision put all of their eggs in the Call of Duty basket, and that lack of diversification has cost them dearly with COD Vanguard's underwhelming sales. Corelating team size to development speed and quality is one of the most fundamental fallacies of project management. The key problems are that they destroyed the company culture that created quality via pernicious penny pinching, bled out the star talent that worked on its past genre defining titles and now they increase the workload via constant onboarding of new hires. These are all well known facts, and Blizzard should have anticipated this result.

With how they bastardized the franchise, (Diablo Immoral being the most recent kick in the face to fans) I'm sure this new "Talent" is only going to be focused on how they can make the next set of "Games" far more predatory then they have.

Arknights for me still holds the crown for some of the best gaming OST's out there whereas Genshin from what I know from friends gives you a crap ton of Gear and has a decent pity system for players. Now, in FGO at least, I can confirm that there exist plenty of lower tier characters that outperform their high tier counterparts in certain situations or requirments. An example being Arash for as much as people meme him, he's still one of the most reliable methods for farming. Then, there's David (my fovourite) who's carried me so many times as a support for the party. All I'm saying is that a cash game should still be a game and try to cater to players in someway shape or form. What got me to put the final nail in the coffin for me is when news rose up how they treated their employees, specially, towards how treat their female coworkers. I can't really blame Blizzard for their sub par quality as of late when their consumer base is so mindless and subservient. us old time gamers saw this coming in 2010. their move to games-as-service is the problem. their focus on online gaming is the problem. their older games came out with lots of weapons and quite a few maps and usually single player campaigns. they got rid of that because they wanted to focus on the game lasting 2-4 years not realizing if everyone finishes your game in the first 2 months, when you release your next map in 6 months, people will be on the next game already. they kept cutting content saying "its a live game, we will just release it in a month or 2" which then kept getting delayed and delayed resulting in really poor initial offerings. then causing them to start failing on all their "roadmaps" because they kept telling themselves, "release now, patch it later" would work long term.

Now they just force expansion after expansion with even bigger "Big Bad's" and the plot now is just a mess. Also it would take 1000s of hours for a new player to run through all of WOW's content. Overwatch was fun for 6 months and then i moved onto other shooters. Overwatch 2 looks more of the same. Diablo 4 is really the only title i was looking forward too from Blizzard, and even that looks in doubt now with some of the new systems that game has. I would like to see Microsoft wiping out the Activision influence that creeps in and infects good properties. Not likely, Activision makes money (for now) but they also destroy good properties and Microsoft seems to be in the market for good properties.

Let's put it this way - if at the time of Diablo 2 (the original) someone told me, that Blizzard would end up as an exclusively mobile developer raking the easy mobile money, I would've asked, what was he on. Today I am well able to envision such a future.

At this point I'm more sympathetic towards these companies for being unable to understand how their actions are making things worse.. Either that or they're all just so far gone, they can't see or care for the immorality in their actions..

@@judyh3707 I don't actually feel sorry for them, I understand they know what they're doing.. they have multiple meetings about things before moving forward. I think it's just sad that for some reason companies can't just see what they're doing wrong and just genuinely improve. Lip service is great, but actions matter, and a compromise between profit and consumer friendly mentality can be made.. so why even do obvious things that would anger people? Just because of the potential in profit..

Lmao, ‘immorality’? Immorality is their mistreatment of workers, NOT implementing measures that affects their bottom line. ANY corporation in the world whether it is Kellogs , a powerhouse institution like Blackrock or a gaming company, these corporations exists for profits. If they can make money through legal means, even though it pushes the boundaries, how is that immoral. People know what a they are buying and as long as people stay engaged and unless they start losing out financially, WHY would they stop? We know they are still profiting heavily off Warzone. This is a dog eat dog world.

Who knew that screwing over and scamming your customers for short term gains would wind up hurting you long term because you drove all your customers off! I never would have seen that coming.

I feel both schadenfreude and worries. On one hand acti blitz deserved it but on the other hand as an up and coming game dev student who want to work at blitz as well as knowing a few people who works at acti blitz I’m really worried for them and the future.

Hell yeah. Even though I really liked MW 2019 and I was looking forward to a sequel, I think I'm gonna skip MWII. I just really don't wanna give Activition/Blizzard money that they don't deserve. If every Call of Duty comes to game pass next year, maybe THEN I'll play it. But until that happens, I'm not giving them a dime We're doing it! We're telling them that this shit is wrong!

Honestly cod vanguard was the worst game in cod history, i had more fun with ghost, AW and IW, im not excited for MW2 either as the first was really overrated for its animations I dont see any point in buying the same campaign and characters, same guns, same animations, same unrealistic and really slippery sliding and sprint boost game. I feel cold war was the last good cod. Like it wasn’t the best, but it felt the closest to true cod since like, what 2010?

I would love to see them shut down, like publishers do with studios that doesn’t perform well. I am so glad, that I am away from these brands as far as I can be. I congratulate every ex fan that decides «enough is enough». Vote with your wallet and don’t interact with their products. Forgetable remakes, sequels that are more like 1.5, the same game over and over again and slot machines that create addicts who lose more money than they get value out of. Thanks for reporting something good. I needed that.
