Absolve The Debt Or Reclaim The Debt (Money Lending and Other Sins VI - VII) Red Dead Redemption 2

Ойындар

[ Help - I’ve been working on all possible situations with the prostitute who asks you for help feeding a man to the pigs but I need you guys help with something. I’d like to trigger the scene where she is being hanged but I for the life of me haven’t been able to get it to happen at all. If someone out there knows how to consistently trigger that situation please leave a step by step guide in the comments below ( I’d like to be able to see the difference between saving her and not saving her from being hung ). Thanks in advance, you guys are great. ]
Now that that’s out of the way, here are all the choices that Arthur Morgan can make during the final two Money Lending missions ( Money Lending and Other Sins VI & VII ). In Money Lending and Other Sins VI after protecting J. John Weathers from danger we’re given the option to Absolve the debt or reclaim the debt. In Money Lending and Other Sins VII we can either absolve the debt and give money to Mrs. Londonderry or just absolve the debt.

We begin our journey with “Evil” Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang after a robbery goes horribly wrong causing them to have to flee from the western town of Blackwater with federal agents and the best hunters eager to collect the bounty on their heads. The gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the heartland of America in order to survive, but as each day passes dissension within the ranks begin to tear them apart. Our protagonist will eventually have to make a choice between his own ideals and his loyalty to the gang who raised him. Will he choose the path of least resistance or strike a fatal blow?

KakaCarrotCake I would love if RDR 2 had extensive choice-making. Such an expansive world deserves to be replayed continuously, but the limitation on choice (like many RPGs afford) restricts that. Take for example Fallout: New Vegas.... I've sunk 350+ hours into that just making different choices and seeing the outcomes, even though technically/mechanically speaking it's rather underwhelming.

I feel kinda bad for Strauss, his job was a horrible one to be doing, yes, but the fact that he met his demise at the hands of the pinkertons while being tortured and refused to rat on them speaks volumes about who he was, it shows that when he said "I was your friend" he really did mean that, on top of the fact that he was thrown out of camp and treated like shit and STILL refused to give any information made me have some sort of sympathy towards him. R* really did good on making characters more in the gray area than a shining example of good or evil, as it is in real life.

I mean you need to understand the nuance of lending to get a real accurate read of Strauss. Obviously the optics of coming after already struggling people for cash or valuables makes him look really bad. But you could be sympathetic; after all, the reason they're in debt is because they took the money to begin with. Really, I think Strauss is a bad person and here's why: he's clearly going to charge these people absurd interest rates. He can do that because of their bad credit worthiness. It's all poor and desperate people looking for what are effectively personal loans, which he can charge a ton for because no bank would touch these people. The trade off to the lender for these high ROI loans is that you might not be paid back. So by sending what's effectively a bounty hunter after these people, he's cheating. He's dishing out loans to uneducated people and then using shady means to make the deal more favorable to him.

In most cases it's plain to see that Arthur is taking from people who don't have anything to spare, but he can tell himself that he is just doing what he's told. Meanwhile Strauss makes the decisions, but never has to look directly at the consequences. That's largely how the world works, everybody partaking in evil in their own little ways, yet shifting the blame, claiming that we have no choice or that we don't know what results from our choices.

Strauss took advantage of desperate, even sick people with his senseless loaning and Arthur only did all that debt collection out of loyalty to Dutch and the gang. I did feel a little bad but, he honestly is a pretty terrible man. He robbed people just like everyone in camp, but he specifically targeted the poor and those in horrible conditions so that they could charge usurious rates and "reclaim" everything they owned, even if it killed them. Strauss deserved what he got.

@@JB-xl2jcThe original idea behind the gang was to help the unfortunate after all. theres even old newspaper clippings and such about how Dutch and Arthur would give back money that they'd robbed from the higher class to the poor and other happenings along those lines. It's a massive contradiction to then bring along a Loan Shark into the gang, which is pretty much the centre of Arthur's arc: realizing how hypocritical the gang had become and how far they and himself had fallen.

7:40 Man I know he was a scumbag but now hearing Strauss so broken when Arthur kicked him out and he said "I was you friend" really does break my heart. Only to find out that he soon got snatched up by the Pinkertons after this and even while being tortured to death...never betrayed the gang. It shows you that before Micah came along the gang really was a family of misfits. Like Arthur said they weren't decent, far from it actually, but they still tried to do right by innocent people for the most part. Holed up in the mountains and sending a search party for John, protecting Tilly from the Foremans, and just partying in camp and gathering around the fire. This game really let you feel that "family is what you make it" vibe. Only for the pressure from the Pinkertons and Micah whispering in Dutch's ear to make it all crash and burn.

She already lost her husband, she's already suffering a lot. I'm glad Arthur cancelled the debt cause she didn't deserve more stones thrown her way. I think it really hit me when she said "there ain't nothing left, mister!" Arthur had a heart and it really showed here. Who was really the devil? No one but Leopold Strauss.
