SPOILERS SPOILER ALERT WEEWOOO WEEWOO SPOILERS micah became a rat you know i really liked micah and after playing for 2nd time i still think he was one of the best characters untill he turned (it also feels like he turned before guarma but when he was a good boy he was one of my fav characters) and also i still dont get it was dutch working with pinkertons too ? Like why did he go after arthur morgan and not micah ? After hosea died dutch started to ... what feels like abandon the gang untill then i think this was the perfect and the best gang EVER

It's made me cry real talk

The most stunning moment I had in this game was when I was speaking to her and chose to absolve and help. As Arthur apologized it started to rain. After he handed her the money and said he was sorry, it started pouring down, like God weeping for Arthur's soul in his search for redemption.

I think it might be designed that way. I think, if your honor is already high but not quite there yet, this game uses this particular side mission to give you the last honor boost to reach max. I was three quarters all the way on the right and after this mission I have achieved the max. Quite a substantial gain in honor when compared to Arthur's other honorable actions.

still, if you don't convert it all into money and do the aberdeen farm store exploit it's all gone before long. some update made you lose all valuables; found that out the hard way as I had been following the tips saying "only sell valuables if you can't carry more or need the money, save as many as possible for the epilog". I'll be honest, when arthur gave john the satchel I didn't expect him to first yeet 7 gold bars, 5 large jewelary bags, 5 gold nuggets, dozens of rings, belt buckles, watches etc. down the mountain first.

@Unstoppable the end of RDR2 is before the events of RDR1, making it a prequel. The epilogue of RDR2 is when John first got his ranch, kinda telling the audience how he went from gang member to rancher. Prequel: a story or movie containing events that precede those of an existing work.

He did good because he genuinely wanted to help others as much he could becuz he had little time left and was soon going to DIE, and leave this world/life he cherished so much. Not because he thought he was going to Hell. The afterlife is uncertain for him as much as it is for anyone. His path and intention was more self-transcendent than meets the eye

I loved how it not only affected Arthur but also me as the player. All I wanted to do in the beginning was robbing and killing...whenever I had the choice to take money I took it. By the end of the game I just couldn't take any money or gifts from characters. I always thought this game was amazing but when I realized that I changed my gaming style along with Arthur changing his attitude I knew this was more than "just a game", this was special.

The way Arthur has changed from the first money lending mission really showed how the game was about Arthur’s redemption

If you read Arthur’s journal and listen to cutscenes involving Strauss, he makes it perfectly clear he doesn’t like Strauss or his lending ways. Just like abandoned animals band together and do what is necessary to survive, I believe Arthur fell into the wrong person that is Dutch and bought into Dutch’s rhetoric of course circumstances made Dutch seem to be a good choice.

Arthur knew it was all an excuse at the beginning of the game. In his journal he writes about how they planned on buying a ranch but Dutch kept putting it off calming the law was watching them. And just before they robbed Cornwall’s train he writes in his journal “Knowing Dutch those plans involve robbing and killing” which shows that he knows Dutch can't settle down and his "plans" involve the exact same thing with no change and no end. Arthur just kept justifying his actions as not having enough money for all of them but it was only until he got sick and started seeing things differently did he finally stop lying to himself.

I think there was some reason to it, you can read old newspaper scraps about the gang robbing a bank and throwing gold and silver to the poor, and Dutch and Hosea talk about the early days where they only did what they needed to survive. Those values were still there in some ways for a while, right up until Blackwater

Dutch had a good start with his Robin Hood ways, but then he slowly went on the deep end and instead started taking from both rich and poor more or less. By the time of Blackwater it was already too late for change sadly having grown up in the game Arthur was just too loyal to say fck it and have him and John leave

@@Rougeification John flat out says to Javier that they weren't good times, and they were just bad people. Man, if they ever remake RDR1, they could make it even better having RDR2 now to build off of... As in RDR1 a lot of the backstory is left incredibly vague, for obvious reasons.

I loved these missions as Arthur. It put the "Redemption" in Red Dead.

in Arthur’s journals these interactions really affected Arthur in a very emotional way and he is left with emotional scares that he feels can never be healed. This man didn’t do anything but sit on his ass all day and count how many people still owe him money. God if i had the option to punch him god i would. he prays on the weak and vulnerable and uses arthur as a way of intimidation and brining fear on dose that owe him. but even after all the shitty things he has done i still give him some level of respect for already keeping his mouth shut even while he was interrogated and eventually killed by the authorities. he didn’t have to be this loyal to the gang, after all Arthur was the one to kicked him out and no one said or did a single thing about it. But at least he kept his loyalty with him when he died.

The best part is that most of them you have to search for and their hidden in other missions and stuff for example with the sister missions if you don't meet sister Arthur will never confess to her and will talk to Reverend

1:41 idk how. but the look on his face spells despair and realization and shock all at once. he looks dumbfounded but at the same time, seems to finally see things clearly. almost as if he's waiting for something to appear out of no where. Idk. he was a bad man, or so he says, but i feel bad Arthur.

Such a beautifully animated and performed scene. The depth of focus shifting on Arthur as the child comes out to cower behind his mother, and the palpable shame and regret emanating from Arthur as he faces the outcome of his actions. Just heartbreaking.

I think the most meaningful thing about this scene to me is that it’s a woman and child who lost their own Arthur. It’s just like Arthur’s girl and son that he talked about previously with Rains Fall and the Sister. It just breaks my heart knowing all of this.

Strauss was the reason why Arthur Morgan got TB. That's why I hate him.

But the TB is what put him on the path to redemption in the end I think a part of him was died happy knowing he finally did the right thing

Well after the bar fight in valentine Mr Downes gets pretty close to Arthur's face when he's stopping him from killing Tommy, that's why Arthur still gets TB even if you just shoot Mr Downes. So its Mr Downes fault, or maybe even Bill's fault since he started the fight. Or dutch's fault since it was his idea to go east down the mountains in the first place.

@@whatinthegoddamn I didn't realise TB asked for permission to infect people. Sure the circumstances and actions of individuals led to that moment, but no-one knew Downes was ill with TB (Strauss makes the vague allusion to it in mention Downes' passing to Arthur). The point was for Arthur to take responsibility for his actions and the nature of his soul which the TB ultimately provoked him to do.

I mean Strauss is a snake who steals money from the poor for his own benefit, he just used Arthur to do it for him. That's a greater reason to hate him.

@@synical_zero0003 actually he didnt make money for himself, it was for the gang, and he wasnt the one who chose arthur to take back the depth, it was dutch who told arthur to help strauss in the first place, heck, strauss was loyal, he died by the pinkertons torturing him, and he never said a word, this is what made me realise he isnt that bad as you ppl think he is, by that logic, you should hate arthur in the first 3 chapters when he wasnt a good man, i mean, he couldve told strauss im not doing this right? so hating on strauss is pointless and idiotic

The way he says “I’m sorry” is one of the most genuine I’ve ever heard.

Man I really liked Arthur too such a brilliant man yes his past was sick but after all that he wanted to turn his life around but Strauss had to make Arthur have this horrible disease and watch his life end soon 😭

Strauss didn't force Arthur to collect the debts,nor did he make him have a disease.Arthur made choices these choices led him down the path if it weren't for the disease Arthur wouldn't have made the changes he did.

@@alaricdelano8159 Idk about that i'd argue the disease was more of a jump start I think either way Arthur would eventually realize what Dutch was doing especially since he ALWAYS hated Micha.

Arthur's wife and son died the same way for only 10 bucks. That's why Arthur feels so guilty about this.

It's like John is living the life Arthur wanted. I look at it as Arthurs second life.

The expression on face of Arthur is so realistic it's like actual real life character in this cutscene I've seen very few games with such realistic facial expression

You'd never see this kind of character development and unconditional kindness from your usual Rockstar protagonist

Arthur's face as he says "I'm sorry ma'am" really hit me hard. You can tell he is truly sorry.

Despite being kicked out for good reason, he stayed loyal and kept his mouth shut. Horrible person, but loyal.

Loyalty isnt everything, the definition "Horrible person, but loyal" could also apply to Arthur before he got TB, and he deeply regrets that part of his life

The transition from a major jerk killing and hurting people without even a whimper to genuinely caring about the people that he ruined the lives of is so seamless and grounded in reality it is horrifying. One of the many reasons I love Arthur as a character so much is that this transition will happen to any one of us when we know that our life is gonna end soon. We all live our life in complete disregard of the lives of others, would that still be the case if we could count the number of days we have on our fingers?

The voice actor for Arthur is brilliant, I've never heard an apology so genuine before

Man the love, care, and detail poured into this character is simply miraculous.. not to mention Roger Clarke's phenomenal performance. One of gamings all time greats.

“You want me to lie down for you?” Reminded me of Ms. Downes.

“I’m sorry ma’am,I really am” the pain and regret in his voice just makes you feel sorry for him and for them

That "im sorry maam" was almost at the same level of the "im scared"

I thought this was the best scene in the whole game. The voice acting and animation is excellent. Really struck me!

Me after this mission: Oh looky here! I’m finally in the white area of the honor bar! Heads into town: *intervenes fight* *dude pulls out gun* *i kill him* *lose honor* *witness comes up, I try to stop him* *witness pulls out gun* *i kill* *lose honor* *repeat* *Back in low honor for fucks sake*

See what makes this scene truly perfect is Arthur sees himself in this situation he once had a wife and son and died when he wasn’t around and he meets another man’s family who name he shares which I feel like he can relate to

This has got to be one of the best stories told in gaming. It never ceases to amaze me. one of the greatest of all time.

definitely the saddest scene, when he apologises you can feel his emotions. even if he was a fictional character I still believed he was real somewhere. I guess the true meaning of life is to just help people. Just make the good deeds happen and it will all come back to you

This game has me feeling all sorts of emotions. Arthur is one of my favorite protagonists in a game now. He's a good man who just got dealt a shitty hand in life and fell in with the wrong crowd.

One of my favorite a scenes. That closing line hits hard.

This mission reminded him of his own family, especially the fact that the father is called Arthur.

I like Arthur. He’s probably one of my favorite video game protagonists ever, but he knew damn well what he was doing. Eventually growing a conscious does not absolve him of anything. Let’s not pretend that he’s anything less than a robbing, murdering outlaw shall we?

I think you missed the point of the story. For starters, you have to give context into why Arthur was an outlaw to begin with. He was an orphan raised by outlaws, he was bread to be an outlaw. It was the only thing he knew. He never blamed anyone else for being an outlaw, getting TB or facing his own death, he knew his actions caused it. And he was never looking to be absolved, the whole point of his story is doing good with the little time he had left and giving others a better path - John, Sadie, Jack, Abigail, etc than what he had.

I figured this out as soon as as i collected the first debt

The quietness of the wind blowing through the trees after he says I’m sorry really gets you

This contrasts Arthur's life if u think about it. Both his wife and son are dead and in this scene the mother and her boy don't have their husband/father who's also named Arthur. This is arthur realizing he killed himself along time ago.

Arthur realized it way too late. And he was himself part of the problem big time without even realizing it too. It hits home because Arthur is a lot like folks like me who didn't knew they were doing something wrong at first.

This is my favourite mission not only in the game but in videos games it’s just so moving to see Arthur like this

“I’m sorry ma’am” it his so hard and is really one of the saddest moments in the game

Look how he turns his head to the other direction while seeing the kid . Stares away from an embarrassment. This game is a masterpiece! The details on look , voice e.t.c are so true to life . Love Arthur . My favorite character ever created .

"I'm sorry Ma'am, I really am" Fuck his voice was so devastated in that line

Hearing the pain in his voice every time he says he's sorry....god damn that hurts. He realises he's been leading the wrong life, he knows damn well he ain't a good man but he's gonna do as much as he can to make things right with what little time he has left. He's not a good man, no, but he's got a golden heart.

What I got from this is that Arthur seen the lady’s son , that he had lost & he’s seeing life differently it’s just the other way around with Arthur being dead & his wife being a window raising her child . He can relate to her life. “Arthur’s dead” was an eye opener cause he too is an Arthur & wish he had what he lost so he also felt bad

Arthur doesn’t realize this he already knew this but he got fed up with it.

Damn, this scene got me hard in my first playthrought and it still hits me, it's a short scene but it really says a lot. When he sees Mrs. Londonderry and the little boy, he can't help but think that he also lost his family due to a debt, and that he was still doing the exact same thing he had done to the Downes family. Without a doubt, one of the saddest moments of the game.

This is one of the best games I’ve ever played and Arthur is without a doubt one of the best protagonists in all of gaming. This is the type of game I’d replay with my memory of the game erased.
