Arthur: ‘’Here, take this, I don't need it no more''. Ms. Downes: ''I don't want your money''. Arthur: ‘’Yeah, I know you don't want it, you sure as shit need it. I ain’t looking for forgiveness, it ain’t about that, don’t forgive, just take the money''. ''I know I ruined your life, I suffer for it every day, but don't get yourself killed for pride. Don't thank me''. Archie: ''thank you Mr. Morgan'' Arthur: ‘’I said don't thank me''. I really loved this conversation. Might be my favourite one from the game, especially the voice acting from Arthur. Just brilliant.

They blame him (and he blames himself) for more than he deserves for it. Thomas would have ended up dying of tuberculosis shortly after anyways; the prognosis of untreated, non-latent tuberculosis is a couple of months to a maximum of 3 years. At worst Arthur "just" sped up his death a bit by beating him. The Downes Family would have ended up in their poverty no matter what anyways, not much later.

@@elitemarine1951 You cannot be that silly. Look it up on the internet "TB is spread through the air when a person with active TB disease spreads the bacteria by coughing, sneezing, shouting, speaking or singing and other people nearby breathe in the bacteria". The fact that the guy sneezes in Arthur's face and you see Arthur visually SPIT at 2:27 means he got sneezed on and contracted the sickness. It was the beginning of the end right there.

@@thejanusproject32 You are right, that is how it is portrayed in the game but in reality TB takes months to develop and a person must spend many hours close to someone, sleeping next to them, kissing them etc, already infected by it to become infected themselves. It takes a long time for enough bacteria to make it to the lungs or throat. Ultimately it would have been better for R* to give Arthur a form of cancer if they wanted him to die so quickly.

Back in the old days people didn't think smoking was bad for your health. And in the matter of tuberculosis, it was widely believed medically that smoking (and the smoke itself) would protect oneself from contracting the tuberculosis bacteria. Which today is absolutely false. Rockstar did their research well and paid attention to small details like this.

I remember playing this for the first time. Arthur beating on the man disgusted me. He had a family, seemed determined to pay the debt, and on top of that he was feeble. As much as I love Arthur, I thought of him as a complete bastard after that. A little after he was diagnosed it dawned to me what an amazing game this was. The very family he had helped destroy would be the ones to send him to his grave. Had he shown any mercy he would have kept his health. He had personally witnessed the consequences of his actions, what he had done to a family and himself. It's crazy how much death can change a person's view. Material things lose their value and all that matters is that people be alive and well. This game is going to be very hard to top. RIP Arthur Morgan and thank you

And for the most of the game, I kept an appearance more closer to Hosea in terms of hair style and slick coat and plain vest and fancy pants. With how Arthur began to interact with Dutch, it just fit so well. Yeah they should have made it available only after getting to Beaver Hollow. My theory is that they felt too many side missions unlocked during Chapter 6. It's a shame so many of them are side missions because I feel like most of them make Arthur's redemption arc work so much better. Like Edith's line "help someone who can still be helped" is the perfect line to convince Arthur to help Marston and his family.

3:01 that drawn out cinematic with the ominous music was really subtle yet clever. It’s like Rockstar wanted you to think about what just happened, at the time it flew over me until Arthur got back to camp in my first play through. By the time I was out of the cutscene I thought for a second that for just going back to camp that was an unusually drawn out cutscene, I didn’t think much of it after that but for a moment I partly started to realize something was wrong

The doctor says to go to somewhere warm and dry: What if you head down to new austin and stay a few days in armadillo or some other place in the desert ? It would be a pretty cool way to unlock a secret ending. Either that or wearing a bandana when confronting mr Downes.

The way in which Arthur tries to convey how sorry and ashamed he is because of his actions really show how much he changed. He had a rough uprbinging, so I believe it wasn´t particularly easy for him to be that expressive and emotional. In fact, and in spite of the fact that he did some bad things, I believe he did not change: the circumstances just ended up showing more of who he truly was like. He had some level of sense and empathy, unlike Dutch.

This is probably the very first time that Arthur Morgan ever got to see the consequences of his actions up close and personal. It's easy to be apathetic about the choices and decisions you make, when you never get to see the full impact they have. After this, and his diagnosis, he reevaluated everything about his life, and he finally, if you will, made a full confession to the Nun about just what a no good bastard he had been. He realized how he threw away everything that was ever good in his life for the gang, like Mary, Eliza and his son, and how the life he had lived basically left him with nothing.

I remember that Downes mission making me uneasy, it didn’t feel good beating the hell out of him like that, but it all served a purpose in the end, truly genius writing on Rockstar’s part. Amazing how everything seems to serve a purpose in one way or another whether it be the world or the characters or strangers. 10/10, best game I’ve ever played.
