Abandoned Castle in the Woods! Exploring Van Slyke Castle Ruins in NJ
Today's adventure brings me to Van Slyke Castle ruins in Ramapo Mountain State Forest, NJ. Built in the early 1900's, it was abandoned and later burned by vandals in the 50's. Its ruins remain today and are accessible by the hiking trails. Join me as I explore the ruins and nearby structures!

Grew up in Oakland, NJ, and would explore the castle all the time when growing up.
Awesome video man, keep it up! I was in south jersey today checking out the brick factory ruins.

Thank you! I hope to check that out someday.
How considerate, someone left a snack for bigfoot. Lol. New sub here. I'm an avid hiker and I love it when I find remnants of long ago things. Kind of a shame about the graffiti. Very cool vid. Tfs:)

Thank you! This was one of my favorite places I've been.
We were there last weekend and encountered a bear, a momma and two Cubs near the lake. Got close enough for pictures, far enough so she didn’t spook. Was surreal.

Great video. I enjoyed going exploring with you! You kept the camera steady so your viewers could see what you intended without having to take a Dramamine and you don't have any annoying music in the background. I'm subscribing!

Thank you, I'm still very much an amateur when It comes to making videos, but I do my best to make them high quality. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
The best video of castle I have seen. The bottle dump was very interesting. Not too far from the castle is the dupont ruins. Best access through back beach park in haskell nj. Just to the right of that pool is an incredible view. Great Job 👍

Thank you so much for enjoying my video! I will have to look for that when I return there some day.
Hi, how many minutes by walk is the castle?

It was a while ago and I don't remember exactly, but I'd estimate 45 mins to an hour. It was a moderate uphill hike, but well worth it.
