    I notice that they're playing 80s music in there. I guess they really want you to feel like you stepped back in time. The new location that replaces it will probably be playing Doja Cat instead.

    Talk about missed opportunities. You're telling me that the folks behind STRANGER THINGS couldn't have used that exterior for one scene in their series? This classic building literally existed in the 80's! Even slap an 80's style Bell Atlantic Telephone decal on that payphone for a distant shot! Shame on them!😂❤

    In Acton, MA there is an old abandoned McDonald’s that closed probably late 90’s has been vacant ever since and nothing has been done to the property I have never walked around the property but I am sure it was just left as is.

    There's a couple here in Edmonton, Alberta that haven't been renovated, but they weren't built in this style, they're more mid- to late-90's if anything. I still vividly remember one that screamed 1970's and was so fun to visit- it, of course, was torn down in favour of a new McDonald's on the same site. Bleh.

    Ok so you mentioned that places like McDonald’s had a magical quality when we were kids… I remember in the 80s, there was this one Burger King that we’d always beg our parents to take us: in addition to the Burger King name, it actually had a second name of its own: “Jester’s Courtyard.” But we never called it that. To us, it was “The Meriden Burger King” (Meriden, CT in case you were curious). It was big for a Burger King, and it was decked out in a medieval castle motif, complete with a knight in armor sipping a BK milkshake with a straw through the visor of his helmet, the BK “King” mascot on his throne beside his queen, and, of course, Jesters. The reason we loved it so much is because there was an arcade (remember those?) attached to it: video games, ski-ball, a big ball pit, whack-a-mole, all the classics. Plus there was a room for birthday parties that featured a stage with a band of animatronic monkeys playing birthday jingles. It was sort of like Burger King’s answer to Chuck E. Cheese’s. There still is a Burger King in that location today, but it’s just another sad grey box like you described. Memories.

    I don’t eat much McDonald’s these days, but when I was a child, I can tell you, there was just something so magical and exciting whenever I would see the Golden Arches!!!! I miss a lot of the old school fast food restaurants, especially Taco Bell!! I wish they would bring back the Bell Beefer!!!

    That new design they are switching to, looks TERRIBLE. That doesn't look like a place I want to eat a fast food meal. I'd rather have the old school stuff. It's actually more fun now than it was back then, because back then, it was modern too. New design is NOT exciting.

Also, on certain weekends, the town of walpack is open to the public. They do a nice tour of a home that has been restored to a period correct time for the home and they open the church to a walk through. I hope you can make it some day.

    Local resident here. Stew Leonard’s is not just a grocery store it’s a shopping experience. Like the guy in the video said, it’s more of a farmers market than a grocery store because, you can’t get everything that you would get from a grocery store. But you can’t beat Stew’s for dairy products and fresh fruits and vegetables. The bakery is great too, they have a large selection of freshly baked goods. In the summertime you can’t beat their fresh ice cream and milkshakes 😋😋😋😋.

  • @TanyaKatherine

    The Burger King reminds me of what Wendy's looked like when I was a baby. They had frosted glass dividers and also a buffet salad bar where you could fix your own salad, tomatoes, dressing, cucumbers, lettuce, cheddar cheese and cold salads. They got rid of the salad bar mid 90s I think.

    You're not alone. I also felt the same about McDonald's and also feel sad how bleak the new ones have gotten. It slowly crept up. There is no magic left in McDonald's and that exciting feeling. The same thing happened to a place nearby me in Toronto called "Lick's" that was the epitome restaurant of my childhood, which slowly got more cold and bleak and then shut down. Stay young, you are.

    my local mcdonalds used to look like this too, but two years ago it was destroyed and rebuilt as a modern one it really lost it character, our old mcdonalds had a strange library theme to it.

  • @TriegaDN
    @TriegaDNКүн бұрын

    The mcdonalds I grew up going to, located in detroit suburb, had a rock n roll dinosaur which was apparently what a california mcdonalds is known for but we had one too. It was also very 1950s diner themed and had an outdoor playplace. It remained like that until more recent years I miss how slightly over the top the theming was, but it's not like I'm completely heart broken over it, the town has lost more historically significant buildings than a mickey d's remodel over the years

    Neons are truly the peak of aesthetics. Those carts remind me of the time before store buildings and restaurants became grey and bland. Oh man i agree with you 110% I cannot stand the "modern" boxy McVomit buildings with their sterile, bland, hospital-like vibe. They're not welcoming at all. I remember when all my local fast food joints had cozy and "warm" furniture. They did look a bit tacky with the fake plants and all but i'll take plastic leaves and color over gray and white any day. So there are 2 McDonald's within a 30 minute radius from me that haven't been updated.. yet. The first is one that I've been going to since i was around 12 years young. It has the famous old school rooftop although not red. The floors have that cool rectangular brown tile. The seats have a super cozy forest green and wood grain color scheme. Very comfortable and inviting! By most of the booths/tables there are dim lamps on the wall that make it feel like you're at an old school diner. Art pictures are hung up on the wall that seem to be from the late 80s - early 90s. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better.. a giant PlayPlace! If you are a 4 year old kid, you'd get lost and cry lol I go in there with my son and we have a blast every time (rip to my knees). I hope they never change this McDonald's. It's clean, cozy and has a huge play place!! The 2nd McDonald's is a recent find. It's a lot smaller and not as clean BUT has a very early 1990s look, both inside and out. The walls and tables have a colorful paint splatter design. There are some awesome art pieces up on the walls that look kinda Picasso inspired! It's the complete opposite of the other Mcd's I mentioned before. Both are very unique in their own way and have personality. I don't get fastFood anymore for a number of reasons but I'd definitely make an exception for these 2 classic McPuke's!!
