    In Iraqi schools they teach us only Islamic and arab history, only a 3 months course in the first intermediate grade “ 7th grade in the US “ they teach us something about ancient Mesopotamia !!!! Thanks for the informative video .

    @@user-ns3cs1yx4b in Iraq students start to study history in fifth elementary grade and the curriculum is as follows: 1- Fifth “elementary grade:” islamic history. 2- Sixth “elementary grade”: modern Iraq history approximately the last 5 centuries. 3- First “intermediary grade”: first trimester ancient history in Iraq “ Mesopotamia “ , Egypt , North Africa and levant. Second trimester is all about “ civilization in the Arabic peninsula before Islam “ 4- second “intermediary grade”: Islamic history again 5- third “intermediary grade:” modern Iraq history again 6- forth “ preparatory grade “ : Islamic history for the third time . For students who choose “ literary studies “ they study European and western history in the fifth preparatory grade and modern Iraq history in the sixth preparatory grade. So before commenting try to educate yourself first, and don’t reply to this comment again

    Basically, dark ages started with Mongols in 1258 and lasted until modernization in 1970's. Then again dark ages from 1979.

    The people of southern Iraq use some Sumerian words in the Arabic language. In fact, we love the Arabic language. It may be a secondary language. The Sumerian language is the first language.

    Started thinking "poor, poor Iraq" when this video got to Saddam Hussein. Ever since he took over, most of Iraqi history has been awful, terrible, horrible things. ISIS made it worse. I feel more than a little bad for the Iraqi people. Yes, maybe better things will come for them. Some people have escaped the country and can live safely while still being proud of their heritage and culture.

    Not really. All the world was a warring world. Iraq's history just goes back further, so we see it more. You have the Abbasid empire which saw massive scientific, literary, medical, and other advancements.

    7:09 as an Iraqi it wasn’t a revolution it was a coup against a king who made the kingdom of Iraq a tourist heaven industrial power and didn’t depend on oil was a democratic semi constitutional monarchy there was only 2k poor people 100k unemployed and the population was 10 million but in the (democratic) republic tourist never visit all industries are destroyed and only dependent on oil with 25% 10million of the population are poor and 1million unemployed and the population is 40million and the elections stopped for 50 years even the kingdom didn’t exist 50 years and the presidents and prime ministers of Iraq lived and are living better than the king
