    6:57 Fun fact: Israel is the only country in the world to ever revive a whole language and to use this language as a national language. Hebrew was almost dead, but then Eliezer Ben-Yehuda restored it on his own. When Israel was declared a state in 1948, Israel's first governments tried to ingrain the Hebrew language among the new Jewish immigrants (who came from all over the world) and succeeded.

  • @tomerschubert2095

    @tomerschubert2095

    Though he was the man who is commonly considered to have revived Hebrew, he was nor the first to try or the only one to do it. The idea of reviving Hebrew had been around since the early 1800's, many supported the idea but no one was crazy enough to actually try until Ben-Yehuda came along. He was effectively the spark to the fire. Once he began to publish his work people began to quickly catch on and follow his lead. In the early to mid 1900's entire institutions would be dedicated to the revival and modernization of Hebrew. Bringing a language that no one has updated in 2000 years up to speed is an absolutely monumental task.

    I watched this one at .5 speed. great stuff. I understand you can't please all of the people all of the time, but seems pretty concise. obviously, we outsiders see all of this and say "can't we all just get along?" I'm hoping that younger generations are seeing this, and are smarter. Their struggle ....both Jew and Arab...seems to be reflected in the struggle in all other parts of the world at various times. If people would put their fear and hate aside, and ask questions, then just imagine what we could do together: conquer aging, explore space/ocean/brain, cure diseases, end hunger, save the planet, make more music/games/movies/art/wine, live happier healthier lives, etc.

At least according to the video, I just don't think you can complain about being told to go in timeout when you threw the first punch, plus wasn't Israel becoming prosperous because of the efforts of its own people? I assume they want in cuz there's many opportunities there cuz its prosperous , but why not try to make their own lands prosperous instead, since I doubt they'd be let inside in the short term in fear Of more Jew death via extremists

    Really good video and worth the watch. The only issue I have is saying "Palestinians" were displaced in 47', since during that time "Palestinians" described both Arabs and Jews living in the BMP. If you asked an Arab then and there which country he would like to belong to, it would likely either be a greater Syria or a pan-Arabic state, and there was no Palestinian national movement until the late '50s/ early 60's - when Arab leaders decided to cynically utilize the refugees' plight as a political tool to fight the Zionists.
