What is Zionism? | History of Israel Explained | Unpacked

This week, we’re diving into the subject of Zionism and looking at where the idea of Jewish return to the Land of Israel came from. But what does this return look like? How has it changed through the centuries and what do we mean by Zionism anyway?
Many people believe that “Zionism” originated with Theodore Herzl. That’s certainly an important piece of the puzzle.
However, the connection of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel has been an integral part of the Jewish story for at least 3,000 years.
Even when the Jews were no longer in the Land of Israel, they’ve had a longing to return.
Join us as we outline the history of Zionism - from the bible onwards - and explain how this millenia-old yearning ultimately culminated in the establishment of the modern State of Israel.

I find it baffling how much of this belief is based on an "ancient connection" that is not unique to Judaism in the slightest. Jerusalem is not just the most important city to Judaism, it's an important holyland in Christianity and Islam too. The region has been a cultural epicentre for millennia, important to so many different groups of people for so many different reasons, the idea that Jewish people have some inherited right to it over everyone else because of a book they wrote is just mindblowing.. Like, can you actually truly believe that and sleep well at night?? Really?? I don't know how. There's definitely no God on your side with this one.

Thank you for bringing this point up because it shows how little you and your fellow thinkers know about the situation. British Mandatory Palestine, which was presumably going to be a Jewish homeland - with the stipulation that nothing should be done against the rights of others - was about 45,000 square miles. Almost immediately after the League of Nations placed Palestine in the hands of the British, the British gave 75% of the land to the muslims. They muslims created Trans-Jordan. Trans-Jordan expelled all the Jews living west of the Jordan River, and confiscated their property. About 26 years later, the United Nations took up the previous League of Nations resolution to create a Jewish homeland. The UN had only 11,000 square miles of land to work with. They divided the land according to local populations. The UN designated about 66% to the Jews and Christians, 33% to the muslims. This meant that between the 34,000 square miles given to the muslims in 1921, and the Partition Plan of 1947, the muslims would have 37,500 square miles of the original British Mandatory Palestine. This means that muslims received 82% of the land that was thought to be the Jewish Homeland. Now, regardless of how much you are blinded by your hatred of Jews, giving 82% of the land to the muslims clearly shows that the civil and religious rights of the muslims were satisified. Of course, people like you (the mentally impaired) bemoan "Why did the Jews get 66%, that's too much? And the Jews got the best part of the land." A very large part of the land designated to the Jews included the Negev Desert, a barren uninhabited area, hardly the best part of the land. Today, the Negev still constitutes over 50% of the land of Israel. The Jews did get some of the best land, just as the area around Tel Aviv. However, they got this land because it was the Jews who made something of that land. You close your ridiculous comment with the words, "Somewhere along the line, things went terribly wrong, and here we are." Yes, something did go wrong. What went wrong was that after the 1948 War Israel allowed any non-Israeli muslim arabs to live west of the Jordan River. Israel should have taken complete and total control over Hebron, Jenin, Jericho, and Gaza. Moreover, the mosques atop Temple Mount should have been destroyed and a Jewish Temple should have been restored to the historical site.

There is no difference. You are imposing your Christian secularism onto other cultures. Jews always had a problem with foreigners desecrating their sacred places. This is very ancient. It makes no sense to you because you come from a civilization that is based on Christian precepts. Nationalism is good to them but bad to you. Read about culture. I mean real culture, so you can understand why you see the patterns that you see. There are secular Jews but Judaism itself is not secularist where religion is split from the secular. Secular Jews follow the Protestant culture that is dominant in WASP countries. The religion of the Jews commands them to do certain things pertaining to the Holy Land. It is like non-Muslims have no business in Mecca. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict will never be resolved without some kind of culture dominating the other. Much the same way secular Jews follow Christian precepts in Western civilization.

Religious belief such as 'promised land' which according to the Jewish belief was a 'promise' by 'God' to the Jews, is not an acceptable basis of regaining geographic territory belonging to others according to the international laws. This claim of 'homeland' was invented by Herzl and similarly, a claim can be invented by Hindus or Muslims or Christians that the 'World' has been 'promised' to their religion by their 'God' or gods and therefore according to your logic only Hindus or Muslim or Christians would be allowed to 'self-determine' the status of the 'World' with the exclusion of everyone else. So the 'World' must be ruled by them and everyone else will become 2nd class citizens.

Mount Zion/Sion; end of TTOJT [Jer 30:7] and beginning of the 1,000 year reign of the body's return: Psalm 74:1-2 (KJB) 1 O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture? 2 Remember thy congregation, which thou hast -purchased of old-; the -rod of thine inheritance-, which -thou hast redeemed-; this -mount Zion-, wherein thou hast dwelt. Isaiah 1:24-27 (KJB) 24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, -the mighty One- -of Israel-, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies: 25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin: 26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellers as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city. 27 -Zion- shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness. Isaiah 2:2-5 (KJB) 2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that -the mountain- -of- -the LORD's house- shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and -all nations- shall flow unto it. 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to -the mountain of- -the LORD-, to the house of -the- -God of Jacob-; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: -for- -out of Zion- shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5 O -house of Jacob-, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD. Revelation 19:11-16 (KJB) 11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 20:4 (KJB) 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Romans 11:26 (KJB) 26 And so -all Israel- shall be saved: as it is -written-, There shall come -out of Sion- the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness -from Jacob-: Joel 2:1-2 (KJB) 1 Blow ye the trumpet in -Zion-, and sound an alarm in my -holy mountain-: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. Isaiah 24:21-23 (KJB) 21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. 22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. 23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts -shall- -reign- -in- -mount Zion-, -and- -in- -Jerusalem-, and before his ancients gloriously. Hebrews 12:22 (KJB) 22 But ye are come unto -mount Sion-, and unto -the city of- -the living God-, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, Revelation 7:1-8 (KJB) 1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having -the seal of- -the living God-: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God -in their foreheads-. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were -sealed- -an hundred and forty and four thousand- of all the -tribes- -of- -the- -children of Israel-. 5 Of the -tribe of Juda- were sealed twelve thousand. Of the -tribe of Reuben- were sealed twelve thousand. Of the -tribe of Gad- were sealed twelve thousand. 6 Of the -tribe of Aser- were sealed twelve thousand. Of the -tribe of Nepthalim- were sealed twelve thousand. Of the -tribe of Manasses- were sealed twelve thousand. 7 Of the -tribe of Simeon- were sealed twelve thousand. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. Revelation 7:9-12 (KJB) 9 -After this- I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. I've not seen or heard such a huge amount of pseudohistory as in this video. For those comments asking for references for what's stated here you'll find a hard time.. Firstly orthodox jews refuse the existence of israel on a religious basis that jews are not to return to wherever historic israel was. Secondly he started with a bold notion that the idea of israel did not start with hertzel, fact is the israel wee see today was fathered by hertzel after having considered africa or argentina as a choice of his colonial project. He actually refused the idea of a religious state due to the resistance he faced from rabbis, who, as stated, find no religious ground for the state. Many other poorly researched facts are stated as facts here but i just wanted to give heads up to whomever watch this.

Zionism in both Hebrew & Christian theology is contrived. A key to understanding its grip in neuro pathways of believer's brains is to understand how all subjective concepts, including theologies, & the neuro pathways they create are all inventions of, & feeds into the pre metamorphic state in homeo. Scripture is a transitional tool for this metamorphic state when scripture is kept at its cryptic dimension, whereby it can be a usefull transitional tool. But when scriture is taken literally/ fundamentally it becomes a trap created by the subjective imagination of pre autonomic metamorphic man. Yes scripture, theology, & belief systems, when taken literally can epigenetically alter neuro pathways (neuro plasticity) in homeo's brain which may improve homeo somewhat, but ultimately all of that will block homeo's post meta natural, metamorphic, epitome state of Being & Doing which is coded into homeo's DNA no matter how initially latent it may be - metaphorically like Butterfly is coded into Caterpillar. Or Caterpillar is actually latent Butterfly yet in its pre autonomic metamorphic state This post autonomic metamorphic epitome state is a meta natural phenomenon encrypted in scripture. All the Zionism theological concepts about & on the real estate & historical events on it in the middle East and so called historical & future events there, and "God's" interactions in all that are ALL cryptic communications about what typologically is going on inside each homeo. It is not about the Middle East real estate, or about its literal external history or its literal future events in scripture, but instead it is about homeo's encoded DNA, epigenetic, epitome, meta natural, post metamorphic state of Being & Doing in each homeo. When homeo opens to the coded metanatural alteration of his/her neuro pathways from pre to post autonomic metamorpic state then that is where the post metamorphic, epitome, phenomenon happens in each homeo not as external events on that Middle East real estate. However conversely when homeo is caught up in abstract subjective ismologies / Zionisms about this metamorphic phenomenon then in that event homeo becomes an automaton of what ever set of abstracts about Zionism that homeo bought into. And as such homeo is controlled by & trapped in those ismologies/ abstracts & is controlled by what ever group that controls those abstracts that are then registerred in homeo's bio neuro pathways. As to end times beliefs (ismologies), Zionism theologies and the group(s) that believe them literally, or use them to manipulate the believers in them, they then become psycho neurologically enslaved by those abstract ismologies, & enslaved by the leaders of those ismological groups. Thee epitome metanatural post metamorphic state that is coded into homeo - no matter how latent - (metaphorically Butterfly Coded into Caterpillar) is encrypted in the 3 major Mono Theistic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Muslim ism. Fundamentally they believe in the yet to come Messiah as if it is a future external world event, instead of cryptically as an inner event within each homeo. Zionism mistakenly ties that external messianic event literally to that middle East real estate in Zionism. They believe in that external event on that real estate instead of in that event being an inner cryptic phenonenon coded within the DNA per se of each homeo, no matter how initially latent that it may be. It is not an external event which Zionism frames it, but instead it is an internal event inside the believer. Christianity has the most poignant cryptics about this metanatural metamorphic phenomenon, as in the crucifiction unto resurection ( an inner phenomenon of inner demise unto epitome life state) Ii Corintheans 5;17 , and it is encryted in Revelation as the Apocolyptic Armagedon unto Exaltation / Messianic State in homeo no matter how initially latent that state may be. Cryptically this is NOT about a literal future external arrival of an external Messianic figure coming to the subject Middle East as an external event as Zionism casts it. "God was out for a stroll one day. The devil was tagging along behind God. God held something in "his" hand. The devil ran up to God and asked "whatcha got there God"? God said, "I got the truth here". The devil said, "hey God give it to me, and I will organize it for you" - author unknown "Where men build a house of prayer, the devil builds a chappel there. No matter how much inspiration, the devil has the greater congregation". - Danial Defoe
