There is a divergence in the populace. As the degenerates expose themselves more thoroughly (pun intended), the righteous must put their humble devotion to the logos on display (like Daniel when he prayed with windows open so everyone could see). The light needs to be placed on a pedestal, not hidden under a basket, and God will use the proclamation of his gospel for his own purposes.

🤔💭 Who are the degenerates & who are the righteous?? Is anyone righteous in this world??.... Yes, I know the elect _are declared righteous_ & counted as righteous, but aren't the elect still plagued by wickedness in their own flesh?? Personally, I need to be _very cautious_ not to intentionally put _my good deeds_ on display according to my own "wisdom" & "insight" as if I know when it's appropriate, instead of "my right hand not letting my left hand know what it's doing".... Rather, it seems more appropriate to _put one foot in front of the other_ as His Word lights my path, and let HIM decide who sees & who doesn't. 🤔💭 Or, maybe I'm just less sanctified than you....

@@mcoz6934 🤨 Protestantism makes complicated the simple. Wickedness in your flesh is not wickedness in your deeds. You won’t be a degenerate if you won’t do the degenerate things which that flesh-wickedness compels or impels you to do. But you won’t be righteous unless you DO the good and righteous things which God has given you to do. I’m not saying I’m succeeding on that count; but it’s a rather straightforward matter, overall. You’re both right though, and both wrong, is the funny thing. Not that I’m right, necessarily. Hello paradox.

@@loganross1861 🤔💭Umm, wickedness in the flesh MANIFESTS itself in wickedness of deeds, does it not?? Yes, of course not, no one would be wicked if they did not GIVE IN to the wickedness of their flesh/natural evil nature, BUT no human is ABLE to resist to the wickedness of their flesh. THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT of the Gospel‼️ 🤔💭 THAT'S WHY Jesus pointed out that a poisonous root DOES NOT produce healthy fruit. AND, a healthy root DOES NOT produce poisonous fruit.... Like you said, it's not that complicated. THIS is why we NEED a righteousness OUTSIDE of ourselves, a NEW ROOT planted in our hearts in order to produce HEALTHY FRUIT, because our natural root in poisoned & toxic.... We NEED the righteousness of JESUS CHRIST, the ONLY ONE who was born on God & lived a perfect, righteous life.... Which God credits to those who put their trust & faith IN HIM rather than in themselves.... Just like Old Testament sacrificial system God established to FORESHADOW Christ, in which people put their trust & faith in the slaughtered lamb that bore their sins, and the INNOCENCE of the spotless lamb was credited to that person. ⁉️ How complicated is THAT ⁉️

@@mcoz6934 Of course you can resist the wickedness in your flesh. What you’re saying is absurd, defies what the Bible says and all practical experience in reality. If we couldn’t resist the wickedness in our flesh the world would be 10,000 times more insane than it already is. You resist it by the grace of God. I never said you resist it with your own innate goodness like you imply.

@@loganross1861 What I'm saying is EXACTLY what the Bible says. The only reason the world is not 10,000 times more insane is because of the restraining grace of God. That's correct, only by the imputed grace of God can we resist the wickedness of our flesh. And since that power comes from outside ourselves, we cannot claim any credit for the righteousness it produces. God will not share His glory with another.

At about 2 min dr jones says u cant be free from reason...well...how's this question....does it make any sense whatsoever that the same God sends down different messages through different prophets to the same human race? Since we're supposed to use our reason, we should all conclude that such a God would be just creating a whole bunch of problems for the human race with all these differing and contradicting messages to people. So that makes zero sense, because God is there to make peace and establish compassion and kindness among people not differences and wars. So, the only other option is that the differences in all of these religions were made by humans.

Here's an opinion that's off the subject and is bound to draw plenty of fire. Being a man of respect, such as you are - why the bottle of Scotch? I understand that it's for freedom that we have been set free. Appreciated. Far be it from me to try to condemn your freedom to have a glass. That said, pastor Doug, you and I both know that nothing good comes of it. Nothing. So I guess what I'm asking is what is your reasoning in tossing the weaker brother under the bus. ? As a long time former alcoholic I can tell you that I'm not in the least bit influenced or tempted to go have a drink from seeing your bottle at hand. That's not it. What it is is simply that you are a highly respected churchman. It's kind of the same feeling I got seeing Dr White's tattoos on display. Now I've got tattoos all over the place -even on my neck for pity sake, but I can assure you that if I had a platform like his or yours to give out the word of God I would not have the tattoos on display if I could help it. Or a bottle of devil water. That's just my opinion. Thanks for all you do and keep up the good work.

A few reasons I can think of... First, the bottle and Glencairn glasses (nice choice btw) are centered on the table to create the scene and the feel of the whole series, which is to say a setting of a semi-formal at-ease type of in-depth conversation between mature Christians. Second, as a kind of underhanded jab to both the uppity Ned Flanders type of superficial display Christians and the heavy handed, phylactery wielding ostentatious ones. Thirdly, because scotch is good, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it when used responsibly (as with any tool), and as you yourself said, it is not the least bit influencing in this manner.
