Nice to see someone accept the Martha scene for what it is, instead of relentlessly mocking it or trying to paint it as something stupider than what it was.

@@kukuhindustanigamer3663 I would make just one change to that scene. I remember hearing someone say in every Nolan film there's the "exposition character", put there for the audience to understand everything. Snyder trusted the audience to get it and unfortunately it was too vague for most people in how it was executed. Here's what I'd do. Keep everything the same, but when he steps back and just before he throws the spear away I'd have him mumble to himself saying like: *"His mother... No, no he could kill us all. He's an alien, he can't have a mother..."* THEN he chucks the spear away. I know it's not perfect and I'm not a screenwriter, but it's a tiny little change, and so many people would understand it better if that was there. There are still people out there who to this day just flat out don't understand why Batman would stop after hearing that the ruthless alien just begged for his mother's life... It's well known that Bruce believes Clark is more human than anyone on Earth, and this is the first step in showing that on the big screen.

Superman saying Martha triggered a PTSD episode in Batman that made him hesitate killing superman. When he found out superman was asking his own murderer to save his mother, he started to see him a human. If he killed superman, he’d essentially kill Martha as well. Which would make him like Joe Chill. This epiphany made Batman disgusted with what he let himself become out of fear. This is symbolised when he throws away the spear. He doesn’t just throw it away, or drop it. he rejects it with contempt, anger and throws it as far as he can. The spear is a symbol of how much Bruce has fallen morally. When he throws it away, it’s him rejecting the Batman he was turning into. People complain about Batman in this movie. But this scene is the first time we see the real Batman. Up until this point he was self destructive, cynical, aggressive and scared. He was deeply affected by what happened in metropolis, he wanted revenge, and he was taking that out on anyone who crossed his way. When he realised superman is a good human being just happens to have a kryptonian body. His anger at superman turned into shame and regret at himself. That’s why he wants so badly to save superman mother, not just because it’s right, but also he needs to make amends with superman. Also the fact he managed to save Clark’s Martha , when he couldn’t save his own Martha probably helped a lot with his trauma and self esteem. We can see he suffers daily because of his parents, nightmares, flashbacks etc That probably why he seems more psychologically balanced in the sequel.

And I’m not even a big Nolan fan but all his movies performed excellent at the box office except tenet! All his movies have a higher rating then justice league except tenet and maybe insomnia and his very first film he short on a show string budget. Also let’s compare the villains shall we. In Nolan’s we have Liam fucking neeson killing it as raz al ghul, Heath ledger completely knocking it out of the park as joker and finally Tom hardy coming through (better then joker in my opinion) as bane. The explanation for Batman killing, at least the way I see it, is that this Batman just doesn't care anymore. He's not consciously killing, he just doesn't care enough to not kill. BUT, by the end of the movie he learns his lesson from Superman and decides to change his ways and be a better person, which is what we see in the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Edit: That's also the point of the Martha scene. He realizes that when he tries to kill Superman, he's become just like the person who killed his parents.

The movie *is* indeed art. It's one of the most beautiful films out there, I mean, c'mon, it's Zack. However it does lack a bit in the narrative and execution of a few scenes. Like this Martha stuff, it's a great idea, but the execution lacks depth. I really like the scene, but understand why people make problem out of it. Could've been done a lot better, in its current form the context isn't enough to appreciate it. Batman's reaction is way too sudden imho. But I have no idea why the movie was absolutely demolished by critics and fans alike. It's one of the most interesting takes on comics, especially for both Batman and Lex. It's also quite fucking deep, despite being a little bit too corny at places. Adding the media as a main character is fucking genius. I guess people just want superheroes to punch each other for fun? The only shit I sincerely don't like about BvS is Doomsday. Everything else is either top notch or good enough to satisfy me.

For years he was the most ignored character for his appearance and his ability to talk to fish but Jason Momoa's performance in Justice League changed everyone's perspective. 3- Victor Stone (Cyborg) originally being a member of the Teen Titans suffered an accident that left him on the brink of death but thanks to his father he survived turning him part human part Cyborg

I really admire its ambition and sincerity, aspects I feel are really lacking in comic book movies and genre films these days. The cast is fantastic too - Ben Affleck really sells this older and more jaded version of Bruce Wayne who's coming apart at the seams and I'll go to bat for Jessie Eisenberg's Lex Luthor any day of the year. He's the first version to really capture the petty rage and vicious ruthlessness at the core of Lex, and the way he's this skinny little guy who showed no fear against Superman or Batman shows the character's bravado perfectly.

"The Death of Superman" comic right in front of me. I had no idea this comic was coming out or that Superman could be killed. I was almost in shock. My 8 yr old self couldn't even rationalize the cover. Anyway, I had been waiting most of my life so far for them to put Doomsday in a live action setting. While not perfect, I greatly enjoyed it. @@danielkeller1337 I have to confess, I actually do like it when they show off Batman's detective side (and to be fair, I think they do with Ben Affleck's Batman, especially when he's in the Batcave analyzing or at Luthor's party gathering intel). But I do like seeing him kick butt too! I should also mention that while Ben Affleck's my favorite live-action rendition, Kevin Conroy is my favorite out of all on-screen renditions, live-action or animated. Though my favorite versions overall, of course, come from the comics.

Magy! You're adorable! I'm glad you showed this one. There were scenes with Lois and another woman that explained things I didn't understand after I saw the shorter version on TV. You're not slow. You picked up what was happening better than I did. I had to see it a few times because I missed some things.

From Superman perspective : Batman and Lex Luthor are both enemies and Lex found out is secret identiy (Clark Joseph Kent) and used is mom as leverage forcing him to kill the Batman. Batman never let him a chance to talk to him about the situation, so just before Batman killed him, he tryed explain a last time why he need him : Save Martha. He didn't say save my mom or whatever because is relation between him and his mom could be use by Batman as leverage against him like Luthor did. When Batman eared him saying Martha's name he've been trigger and knowing that Marta refers to Superman mom, he got back to his parents murder. It was enough to let him reconsider his actions and let the time to Lois and Superman explain him that it was a plan from Lex Luthor from the very beggeining.

People make fun of the Martha scene, but it was the moment that Batman realized, just how human superman really was. He had a mother, just like Batman did. He doesn't want Superman's mother to die. Like his mother died.

Welcome to the World of DC Comics & Films. Back in 1992 Superman made history by dying against the Monster Doomsday. Back in 1984 or 1985 Batman did the Ultimate thing in Comics, he challenged Superman to a fight. And Won. This film was a culmination of the 2 greatest comics of their time put together for one of the best Comic Book films ever made. Batman v Superman is decisive between Those Who Never Read a Comic vs Normal People who love Superman & Batman. Many people didn't understand why they're fighting each other, but if they read the comics. They would know that Bruce & Clark weren't friends when they met. Batman sees Superman as Earth's Greatest Threat because of his Powers. The Addition of Wonder Woman came from the New 52 Comics, Wonder Woman fought alongside Superman against Doomsday. That's why she was in the film, also to introduce her so her solo film wouldn't be a shock.

I know a lot of people give this movie shit for the Martha scene, and for killing Supes in the follow up to his origin film; BUT, the theater I saw the film in was so quiet during Superman's death and funeral scenes, that you could hear a mouse fart. Not sure that particular reaction was common, but damn, what a moment.

The scene where it shows the Montage of Superman saving everybody with every politician and scientist on TV talking about him is so well done. That scene, Magy, is to point out just how divisive the world is on Superman. Any government from any country, they want control, always but Superman can't be control, that's why they are all afraid of him😔

The ultimate edition should just be referred to as 'the movie' and the theatrical version should be called "reduced for theatrical presentation." The "reduced for theatrical presentation" version was cut down to get an extra showing per day. Doing that made aspects of the plot and character motivations less clear. Looking forward to you watching Zack Snyder's Justice League, aka 'the movie.'

Your hope of him coming back based on the ashes is exactly what many others also thought seeing those ashes rise. So, you're not crazy thinking that since it was intentional on Zack Snyder's part to leave us with that hope. Part of me is actually kind of jealous that you are watching all these DCEU movies now so you can now go right into watching Zack Snyder's Justice League. I do not know how long Snyder's Justice League will be on HBOMax. It seems just like Netflix, movies come and go, but I hope they keep Snyder's Justice League up for a lot longer. I would highly recommend watching Wonder Woman before Zack Snyder's Justice League and watch Zack Snyder's Justice League and not the theatrical version of Justice League dubbed Josstice League since Joss Whedon changed so much of that movie. Snyder's Justice League is 4 hours long, but the time just flies right by and you will not want to stop until it's done. I am so happy you understood the whole meaning behind the "Martha" epiphany moment Bruce had that stopped him from killing Superman. It was a controversial moment that divided fans. I really enjoy it too and it had much deeper meaning than the joke it ultimately turned into later. But, you know how incredibly nit-picky some comic book fans can be, unfortunately. LOL...it actually never dawned on me until that moment that Martha was the name of both mothers. I felt so stupid that I never made that connection until this movie. I also cried a lot during this movie and the fact some fans were so mean picking this movie apart made me so angry. By the way, there are BvS prequel comics to the movie that helps give some more context to some scenes in the movie and help build a larger narrative or bridge between Man of Steel and BvS. I wish some of the content from the prequel comics were included in the BvS movie and I think would have satisfied more fans and some of the complaints they had. I read all of them online in a couple hours years ago. There is actually a 4-hour cut of this movie that was screened to WB executives 1 year before the movie was in theaters which reportedly got a standing ovation. Snyder said his original version had much bigger emotional arcs for each character and the theatrical version cut out even more of the arcs than seen here and shifted a few scenes around. But, 1 year later, something changed that detrimentally affected the movie (we now know WB meddled a lot) and that set off a chain reaction of events in which WB shot themselves in the foot, so to speak, and Suicide Squad was detrimentally affected/changed as a result too. I'm still personally really mad at WB for how much they meddled and interfered with Zack Snyder's vision that started with Man of Steel and was going to end with Justice League 3. I do not really know what Zack Snyder's plan was originally for Man of Steel 2, which is what this movie was originally called years ago and then, got changed to Batman V Superman. I am still curious. The theatrical version was more of a Batman film and then Ultimate Edition, which restored some more of Snyder's footage, was more of a Superman film and makes more sense.

In the original “Death of Superman” comic, it rocked the entire established DC universe, leaving the characters wondering how they can continue without Superman. But in this film, the death of Superman is framed as a sacrificial and heroic legacy that Bruce uses to honor Clark and to rally other lost isolated metahumans together to form the Justice League, to reignite another Age of Heroes (you see more of Bruce’s redemption arc in Zack Snyder’s Justice League)
