@@tatsuyasigh1906 I'm not talking about this game, I'm talking about his games over the last 3 years which I have followed. And I didn't say he was almost unbeatable in the "middle game", the middle game is an extension of the opening and hence it derives a lot from prep which isn't Alireza's strong suit. I just said that in a context where only tactics and positional sense matters, he's almost unbeatable. Those are two different things we said.

As far as I can see Gukesh never played a blunder move in this game. He simply was outplayed by Alireza's engine-like attack. It reminded me of some times when I've been playing the Lichess engine and thought my fortress was impregnable but the engine painstakingly broke it down. If Gukesh erred, it was strategic not tactical; that is to say, he diverted resources to pushing the passed pawn when those resources really just needed to remain in a defensive position.

We should get more coverage of Gukesh, because he’s the youngest ever after Fischer to compete in the candidates and also he’d be joint first with Nepo had he snatched a draw here or even in the sole lead had he won, all at the age of 17. He clearly has the potential to achieve Fischer’s class / level.

The picture was actually a few moves later, after the knight got out. Gucci-Reza jammed in this game. He's bringing the fade back. 🔥

I gotta ask... Gukesh ritual when starting a match is often meditating on Move 1. Often it takes a few minutes or so to complete. Do you think it would have made a difference if he had done it earlier and saved that time?

Agadm; that’s the first time u didn’t spoil the game n as of Alireza’s fan had very hard time watch the video to see he won. ..for any game in past when u put the player pic then means he is the winner. lol…Alireza really work so hard n make big risk no losing rate to achieve this tournament .
