Well, I know that for Metabolic acidosis the compound responsible to combat it is bicarbonate to raise the pH in the blood back to the normal range. I know that hyperventilation can remove dissolved co2 in the blood and reduce the acidity of the blood, however I don't believe hyperventilation would have a quick enough effect. I'm not aware of a proper method to raise the bicarbonate levels in a quicker fashion, or at least I can't remember it clearly enough if I was taught it. Hope you can fill me in on what you would do.

The really worst part is that you develop lumps of waste on your arms and legs visible to you. This is common with people that stubbornly skip their 3x a week dialysis (cleaning of their blood by a machine which takes a long time to complete every time they go there.) I understand them tho, it's just so boring being there.

True story: I accidentally overdosed on laxative chocolates last year. i was sick and misread the dosage... I also ended up in the ER and they had to pull me off the toilet to take me to the back. at that point i had the worst cramps of my life...and i have 3 children. I had the worst calf pain and my hands wouldn't unclench they were actually STUCK...i was panicked and breathing really shallow witch is what caused the muscle pain and stiffness.

During the worst of my easing disorder, I was taking 10-15 laxatives EVERYDAY, on top of eating little to nothing (around 250 calories). Mainly because your body gets used to laxatives over time, so you need more & more for it to work. My digestive system is destroyed but I'm so lucky it didn't do more damage. During the time, I had no control over my poop, it would literally start coming out at any time & also effected the electrolytes/minerals in my body. To add, it literally does nothing but dehydrate you when you abuse it, the calories are already absorbed..

I remember reading in Anat/Phys that they're silent organs. Basically they will just put up with a ton of abuse and not even mildly hurt...the nephrons can get absolutely shredded and the rest will just quietly sit there and re-double efforts to keep you alive. You can lose up to 90% of kidney function before anything actually shows.

What a shittu pun.

I had an eating disorder when I was younger. Anorexia nervosa. I am currently 66 yrs old. Before anyone REALLY knew what that was. I practiced all of the things that modern day bolemics practice. I worked it out on my own. I was able to get it under control in my 30's it started when I was 13. Hope everyone else has faired better. I have ulcers caused by this. Hold on. You can evolve beyond this and find yourself on the other side of this. 🙂
