Probably a bit late now seeing as the show has finished, but as with all hobbies, crafts, arts etc they evolve overtime. So i guess one could say that the type of wood craft that Doug and a lot of us pursue (using mainly knives) is just an evolution of the old time whittling...just a thought...😎

I have Occ and Flexcut and Deep Holler knives and Deep Holler is in my opinion TOP NOTCH, the best, they don't dull that quick and when I do have to sharpen them they get very sharp whereas after I sharpen the others and they just don't get as sharp.....So Deep Holler is all I use now.....

The higher bevel angle 20° or so is for carving harder wood. A lower grind angle would/could be too fragile/brittle if used on hard wood and with a mallet

Hello Alec. Sitting in my hotel for our class starting tomorrow. Pretty pumped. By the way, Doug is the guy who got me into this carving. I will explain to you tomorrow. You can tell him. Doug is my very best friend, but we have never met. Insert happy joking face here. But I love that guy.

It's probably just the video, but thanks for both . If the cave man had dermal tools, he would use any tool that works. It's always a great visit. Sorry for the loss of family. I had one hard maple back in the 70s and did make my own surpe several years, and it's delicious Thanks for both. I'm in a website and I know I was impressed with both of you Now I'm finding you both a legends

Have you guys ever tried Warren Carving tool kits? I've acquired a kit and they appear to be nice quality and seem to be priced reasonably.

Why are flexcut knives considered “beginner” knives. And yes you can buy individual flexcut tools

Was referring to their large mallet sized tools and if they made others outside of the set
