Oh i love this! Nice to put a face on the couple that really helped me along the way with their tools but also their great books -thanks Van!
Thank you Van for all you do for the carving community!
Thank you for sharing the level of efforts involved in making these knifes. Now I see that every penny I paid is worth.
What a lovely video and a lovely couple. Im the proud owner of a few OCCT knives and a number of Mike's fantastic books. Its great to see how they are made. These two have spread so much joy around the world with what they make. Thank you and thanks Van for the great interview!
Such an awesome segment with such charming couple. Thank you for sharing it. A high quality product is worth the wait(and sometimes the searching).
Thanks Van! Thanks Mike and Sherry!! That was fabulous!! Genuine people providing the tools for us to enjoy this great hobby!!
Van thanks for doing this I can now put a face to the carver that I stood and watched at Silver Dollar City so many years ago. ❤
Such a great video! I love my OCCTs, but I appreciate them so much more after seeing this. Thanks, Van and crew!
I really enjoy your teaching. Great video.

Momma lives in West Plains today. Not far from Dora. Wish I had a few for myself...some day soon! Thanks to you for the video and to Mike and Sherry for allowing us the visit!
That was a wonderful interview you did Van with the Shipley's, how nice of them to let us into their wood carving world. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for taking the time to make and share your videos. Always looking forward to the next.

That was a great video. Thank you for sharing
Ty Van, I have an OCC knife, glad to see the process
Great video Van! Keep them coming! Really cool to hear from Mike and Sherry! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Van, the Shipleys are some lovely people. You are a gentlemen sir , thanks for a great video.
Van, thanks for doing this interview and walk thru of the process. And a big thanks to Mike and Sherry! I currently have 4 OCCT knives and absolutely love them! I use my 1 7/8" and 1 1/4" on just about every carving I do. Thanks so much for making a quality tools at an affordable price! OCCT knives are always on the list of knives to get when a beginner asks what they should buy 🤙
The Knives I have started to learn carving! Carving Ozark Country Folks is my favourite book! Mike is self-taught carver and well known for his distinctive clean-cut style. He’s one of the carver inspires me to the hobby!!!
Thankyou Van for this video. I have all of Mike's books and one of his knives. I pretty much started with his book of Whittling The Old Sea Captain! It's good to see Mike and his wife keeping busy making his awesome knives!
This was a great interview Van. I have used Ron Wells and OCC tools for many years. They are the knives I use every time I carve. Carved Mike's Bears from his books too. Thank you Mike and Sherry for producing a great product.
Love the video, very informative, interesting and entertaining. Love hearing the history of it all. Thank you Mike, Sherry and Van.
Love the video Van ..Thank you so much for the insight into Mike's life
Great video! Thank you Van! And Thanks to Mike and Sherry also!
I have three of these knives. Beautiful
This was a great video with Mike and Sherry, I don't think I would have recognized Mike on the street unless he spoke. I haven't seen him in awhile and have not seen the beard, You did a super job on the interview. Thanks Van for the interesting episode.
Lovely interview Van. Though we now have loads of carving advice available in this technical age, you guys did it tougher but developed your own styles. We don’t have many carvers to learn from in Australia I do appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us and making our carving journey so much easier.
These knives have made it across the sea to Sweden. Love my OCCT knives. Have several. Also, have his books. Great inspiration. Thank you for doing this one, Van!
This was awesome Van. Such a nice couple and very cool to see the carver that inspired me to stay with it. Thanks
I really enjoyed this video. Have several OCCT tools which I use a lot.
Very interesting interview and Mike's books and knives got me started, years ago. Thanks, Van!
Really great interview, so interesting to see that they are still involved in making. Excellent tools, probably the only knives I have that haven’t broken or bent a tip!
Thanks for this, Van Very interesting to get the History of some awesome tools and meet the couple that worked so hard to develop them. I belong to the Rockford, Il carving club and met Denny Neubauer just prior to him moving to Arizona. One day he allowed me to make a knife out of an old drill bit along with Jim Hiser in Denny’s garage. It was a fun Day. I really like the OCC tools.
Great video. Makes me appreciate my OCCT knives even more. They are all I use.
Great video Van. I really enjoyed learning how the OCC knives are made and the people behind it. An enjoyable video to watch. Makes me want to go pick up my OCC knife and get some practice in.
What a lovely video. I'm in the UK and would love to get my hands on an OCC knife.
Thank you for this Van! I really enjoyed it.
Thank you very much Kelly for this video, that's really help to understand from where some tools that we use come from and why we paid good amount of money for the tool that later that tool change to be our diamond to work
Definitely my favorite carving knife!❤️!
Van thank you for sharing this video. That made my day.
This was really nice. I have a couple of their knives and it's nice to know the people behind them. ❤
Outstanding interview, thanks!
Van, that was a very good interview! I've talked to Sherry many times over the last couple of years, ordering tools for the carving club. Such nice people! Thanks for sharing your interview, and thanks to the Shipleys for producing such a great knife at an affordable price.
Great video Great way to spend a day.
classic, great video
Priceless
Great video Van.
Loved the interview and the video
I have 3 OCCT knives and are and have been my main tools. I am also currently carving Skinny Lenny. Big Shipley fan.
Great to see. I wish I'd been carving when they were making knives full time. Is Kryshak making all their knives now?

They are still making knives! They have 6 different knives they make still.
I learn something big wow, I assumed factory produce. Sure feel stupid now. They are definitely my kind of folks! Thank you and take care, PS gives my OCC knifes a more sentimental value and appreciation.
Great Tools.I use my OCCT knifes everyday.
this was an interesting video. Thank you.
Great video Van. Barry the bear was my 1st. Carving I’ve been hooked ever since. I bought a couple occt knives a few weeks ago they are so much better than the flecut i was using
I am a happy user of an OCCT knife (unfortunately the shipping costs to Germany were 120 US$)
I don't understand, I thought KCT took over for OCCT? Is OCCT still making knives?

Just the six walnut handled one's are OCCT knives the rest are KCT, to my knowledge. Got a couple of each.
Occt tools are great and priced well. Do they still make tools? I thought they sold to KCT. I recently ordered an Occt gouge and what I got was a KCT gouge ......not the same quality as OCCT. Hopefully they will get better with time. Great video.

@@vankellywoodcarvings Do they have a website? Most all the occt knives on dealers websites are sold out. I just found a few in stock so I ordered them while they were still available. They are the best knives in my opinion.

@@Anders.BHey Anders, did you ever get an answer to your comment? I’m looking to purchase some OCC knives but don’t know which websites to trust.

@@SaladMan199 No, I didn't. Hummel, Big Foot Carving, Cascade Carvers, Chipping Away are all good sites. Stay away from Cherry Tree Tools. I ordered two OCCT gouges from them. I only received one and it was a Kryshak gouge. They won't respond to me with where the other gouge is. They suck.

@@Anders.B Ah that sucks, I’m sorry. Do you think mountain woodcarvers and treeline USA are good websites to order from? They both claim to sell original Shipley knives.
I'm an old man, new to carving and the carvers I watch are, good people, my kind of people.
I thought they sold the business.
