I don't know what you charged him, but what ever it was it was cheep compared to melting down that 2jz, It is really nice to see someone in this day and age that can diagnose and problem solve a motor, on top of that a modified motor that is a bag of parts.. Keep it up Jeff, I just wish you were on the west coast.
Wish I was your neighbor! Hearing dyno pulls all day I'd be like 👀👀 out the window! 😂
Awesome series! As a newbie in the tuning world, you make it very easy to follow along!

Outlawl1211 I agree
stumbled on your vidz by accident man this is great... really like your style an professionalism...u actually speak to the client on all issues of safety n durabilty,a rare sighting these days..... . will be dropping your a line in the near future to have some work done on my r32 skyline... #evanstuning #greatwork
best tuner so far i seen hands down keep it up jeff
good videos... it gives everyone an idea of what a real dyno session looks like. not just the 30 second video of a pull you always see.
I love these new videos
love these! looking forward to hearing you with Matt Happel on the Sloppy Radio Show. please keep this up!
those cast manifolds are known to overboost and creep. Porting them usually helps a touch. Obviously the best fix is to replace the manifold with a better design.
Same issue I had with my Integra and Jeff recommended a second gate. problem solved.

Yea either a second gate or a 3 port bcs would probably help

garrett2jz the gate om my forward facing manifold was closet to a 90* angle of thea exhaust flow and with the 3" downpipe.Basically it wasn't creating enough back pressure.

herbfst ah I see
ppl never check their wastegate springs lol

He must have checked it tho, it had 3 springs in it.i doubt they come factory with 3 spring in em lol.
I like this! keep tunning 2jz
Always the wastegate spring'd to the moon!
And this is the reason I'm choosing u as my tuner u want what's best for the car and talk to the client what's best for his car it's not always about making power it's about how safe it can handle for the long run
good diagnosing of the wastegate. checked everything first before condemning the wastegate
This is the reason that I went with a Tial F38 wastegate and control boost with the spring only. I just ordered a MAC ecu controlled boost controller, so I'll have to see how that works out for me. I just installed a PLM top mount turbo manifold and downpipe on my B18C5 swapped Civic with a Turbonetics 60-1 Hifi turbo, and my Tial wastegate is less than an inch from the side of the radiator, so changing springs would suck.
What brand log manifold? I had the PHR one before and could hold 16-17 psi no problem with no creep from like 4K to redline. Single 44 mvr wastegate.
I have that same Mac light lol
Wish he was closer. Would love for him to tune my S
I have the same manifold. Even after porting it, it creeps hard. ☹️
Man you need a nice roll cart so you aren't looking for tools all the time lol saved me tones.
Hey boss i want to come study with you

I'm definitely biased towards red cars. They look so good!
What wastegate and turbo combo is on this setup? I've seen an issue with a Turbonetics 7868 2JZ-GE (NA-T) in an IS300 where the owner ran a single 38mm Tial and it just wasn't enough gate to properly regulate the exhaust pressure. It was odd since I've seen the same 38mm Tial work fine on an MK 3 making 470hp on a GT35R as well as a 4.6L 2v Mustang making 515hp on a T70 but for whatever reason on this stock NA 2J making under 450hp the 38mm just wouldn't cooperate. In retrospect the diaphragm may have been compromised in some way but more than likely I think it was a poorly designed manifold putting the gate in a less than ideal location that caused the issue on this IS300. An Amazon turbo kit was what the owner installed and after a combination of problems with the included GT45 China turbo crapping out and the first "tuner" leaving the car with an untable idle and mid 13 AFRs under load @ WOT I found the guy a good deal on the Turbonetics unit and got the car running well on a Haltech Elite PnP setup. We ended up having our fabrication guy reinforce and coat the manifold then reflange it (is that a word?) For an MVR 44mm gate. All was well after that but it was another lesson in how saving $400 on a generic kit cost someone an extra $1000 overall.
"Boost level reasonable for the pump gas" You mean so the final compression ratio isn't too high for the octane level? Don't you guys calculate the FCR with the psi level to match the octane?

he stated they were running out of fuel, the injectors were duty cycling at 85%, 2jz's are great but 25lbs on crappy pump gas going lean is asking for trouble.. he is trying to save the guy and keep it reasonable so the motor lives..

gorrilaunit99 you can calculate all you want but something mechanically is going different than what the computer thinks is happening so your calculations won't do a thing to save it.
The wastegate port on those cheap cast manifolds are too small and need to be ported out. They will always have boost creep unless you are running a tiny turbo.
this was more of a mechanic session than a tuning session. haha That must get frustrating but im sure you're used to it by now.
what turbo is that?
So glad my wastegate is on top.
The turbo says Precision Turbo. maybe it's too precise
10:15 jeff, i gotta say, you look like you belong in that mk4! just saying.
Boost creep just kicking ass and taking names lol, tell him to go E85 and get above the creep threshold
Is this a dead channel?
