737 AFDS Build Guide Video

Here is the newly designed 737SS AFDS featuring a PCB and the ability to display dual colors. It's a beautiful little unit that looks great from both the front and back.

Glad to find this channel. I`m an ex US Marine and a helo mech. Yeah we called them Helo`s. LOL. It was good experience. I did not know that sim building was so big, thats crazy. I worked on CH46 medium lift helicopters. They are the ones with big tandem rotor blades on the front and back rotor heads. The rotor blades were held down with a huge nut that we nicknamed the "Jesus nut" . Because when it brakes in flight, those are going to be your last words.

The mentality with which you dedicate yourself to creation, with extreme competence, curiosity, but above all level of passion is truly fantastic and it shows in every video you make. This positive attitude is an example and an inspiration for anyone with a passion to develop. We are used to not using our abilities, our brains by now. Every person should approach life with such a mindset. Truly an excellent example, congratulations and greetings from Italy.

Never would've thought about using one large monitor for the main screens. Clever! Now, I want to see how you are going to build the overhead panels! I'm working on an APU/Generator panel now. I just need to relearn Mobiflight because I was using the other sim interface software and was starting to have issues with getting things working.

Hello, I wanted to limit the amount of Monitor connections, so this eemed the best way. The monitor was also cheapest and easiest to find. The old 18 widescreens are now really hard to find. Also this monitor can be used for the 737MAX which im also designing.

Great stuff as usual Karl, just a tech note - someone has already mentioned the switch, but also the OEM AFDS units are not backlit. I know PMDG does but they take a lot of artistic liberties with the backlighting lol.

Thanks mick! Great info. I'll mention this in the build guide online and leave it to people to chose if they back light it or not.

@@helimech8152 Greetings Karl, I'm good and I hope all is well on your end. It's been a bit since I last worked on anything, but I'm eager to wrap up a couple of unfinished projects (FMC and AFDS) using your new PCB approach. Could you please provide guidance on how to order the boards? I couldn't locate them on your website. Karl, your work has been impressive, and the community truly appreciates your dedication. I wholeheartedly agree with @TheGIKKIO - your passion is truly remarkable.

Hi really love watching the videos they are so informative have encouraged me to build my own home cockpit. I purchased everything I think I need including what I thought would be a time saving momentary switch the KD2-22 ON - ON with LED, however i'm struggling with the wiring and wondered if you could help me it has 8 pins 2 for the LED which I have managed to figure out, but no matter how I connect the others it just doesn't seem to want to work? keep up the good work.

I think that would have been a better requested added to the discord channel. If you don't have the PCB version, then you have to manually solder the wires to the legs. Drop us a line on Discord!

Thank you and I thought I had at one point. I was just going to revisit all the parts to make them better. But I now have two option for the full size sim. Work with a friend down the road to build it on their property, or rent a space.

@@helimech8152 I suspected it may have been a space issue as you had a lot of room in Brunei. Your full size sim was excellent and I'm sure that all the techniques you have learnt will only make it better. Best of luck and i will keep watching your videos. thanks.
