AH64 Throttle For DCS
This design was asked for by an old friend who still flies the Apache in real life. What started out as a joke over a beer online led to this project being designed and created in around 48 hours. As an ex-Apache engineer, I downloaded DCS just for the virtual cockpit and created the panel in CAD. This will sit on my desk as an excellent desktop reminder of my service with the aircraft. However, for others, this should; be a great unit for DCS.

Bro, that final resulting Apache AH64 Throttle panel absolutely looks EFFING INSANE!! And I'm throughly flabbergasted and completely and entirely astounded as to how you manage to make this all look so incredibly easy!!! One things for sure though, you're one hell of a talented bloke, and I really do think (and hope🤞) we'll all get to see you build one of those fully functional complete DCS physical cockpit layouts à la the Warthog Project before too long 😉 But your skills man... 🤤 🤤 I'm afraid it's official now..... In DCS you got a lot of stuff available to do content and also a lot of people interested in this type of stuff, I don't even own an AH-64D had already blinked at it but wasn't so sure and just because of this I am starting to being sold on the idea... oh and I just realized one thing I didn't said, THANK YOU for this. (and if you do some fighter cockpits stuff I'll become your costumer)

As a former US Army Apache mechanic, I love this however in the throttle slots there should be, depending on variant either a set of soft bristles or split rubber to keep things from dropping into the throttle quadrant assembly. The rubber is pretty thick and stiff so it would most likely require a rework of the faceplate to have a recess to add it so it could mount flush to the underside.

Hello Joker, You are right and i pruposely missed those out for ease! Normally i would print them in flexible TPU, but it causes so much hassle when others print them, it fills my inbox up with requests. Hence they were never added in the first place.

Wow very impressive, especially for a 48 hour build. If you ever tackle the Apache Cockpit that would be quite the interesting and amazing project for DCS. Great work thanks for sharing
Excellent sim engineering , you are setting a very high standard , appreciate the focus on helicopters , could ever consider building a harrier throttle [aka the flying hairdryer?]
I think that adding 3 digital hall effect sensors (and relative magnets), 2 on the Idle detents and 1 on the APU switch cover, can be a nice addition to the project
So awesome! and love to see you use brass inserts and a faster printer :D You are basically makjing this perfect for me now!!

You do absolutely incredible things! I hope that you will perhaps someday make gauges for the Bell UH-1H. How do you make sure the fitting is tight on the led's? Do you add 1/10mm or use a specific iso fitting like M10h9?

Hi Daniel, and thank you. I will do a mods program from all the discord requests later on in the year.
Could you do a wire tutorial? Really want to get into the hobby but i have no idea how to wire everything and what i need to do with something like the g1000. Ive bought some MIP panels and the lack of knowledge is kind of whats preventing me from starting a build. I dont understand the wireing prosess and the wire to Arduino placement. Like what is a common ground and how do you do all this stuff?

I'd have thought a TEDAC controller would garner most interest 😉
I've bought the CAD files as well as the STL's for this because I'm going to machine the guts of the mechanism and the levers from dural. And also because for once I'm fed up with reverse engineering cockpit parts, I'm happy to let you have that privilege this time 😄 I know how much work it is.... One question - on the real helo, are the grips cast ally, or are they plastic ? if they are ally then I'll machine those as well

@@helimech8152 Aaah, sorry - I meant the throttle lever grips, I should have made that clear.
Out of curiosity, how did you get the dimensions for the panel? I'd like to take a shot at the lefthand keypad forward of the throttle. However, I can't find any dimensions online. 3D printing and CAD design is not a skillet I have at the moment. But if you already started making it, I'm more than happy to purchase your plans!!
