Once the girl in the blue figured out the girl in the white had a terrible shot defense the match was over. But she didn't need to push off of her like she did after the pin. That's a punk move and she seems like too good a wrestler for that nonsense. Let your wrestling do the talking for you, even when emotions are high. Win or lose with class. Doesn't mean you have to like it, just do it because it's right. I really enjoyed your match though. Nice counter!

I think there's history too. The girl in white is clearly pissed off. I can't tell if the girl in blue is truly saying "good match" or if she is sort of rubbing it in her face. But at the end, the woman in the black shirt is clearly taunting the girl who lost, which ain't classy and which might suggest where that little push off came from.

That push off at the end was no accident. You can hear Alicia's coach say at the end as he points to Zella, "She does it all the time." In other words, I think Alicia was just "giving back" to Zella. If that's the case, Alicia needs to show more class and sportsmanship than that. Don't sink to another wrestler's tactics if they do something unethical.

As an MMA fan, this comes as a little bit of a shock to me. Didn't know that there were any outlets for girls to learn freestyle wrestling. Always thought middle/high schools offered it as a boys only sport, and same for colleges. Majority of successful women in MMA with grappling backgrounds come from Brazilian jui jitsu or judo. There's tons, and I mean tons, of strong wrestlers in the men's divisions. I was under the impression that women in MMA had to learn wrestling in dedicated MMA gyms. It's good to see schools offer wrestling as a sport for girls as well as the boys.

After watching it over and over, i noticed two things. It may have been a pin, but the ref really wasn't in position to call it. The second is, that was really a punk a$$ move to push off on the other girl's neck. I might be old school, but if you have just won a contest, act like a winner, not an ahole. I can see why the girl in white really would have liked to retaliate but kept her cool, even though upset.

Yep, that's exactly what I saw, too. Poor sportsmanship from the victor. I don't blame the other girl for being upset by that push off her neck. It was classless move. And the other lady screaming -- "It's okay. You got caught!" -- thinking she's a poor sport rather than seeing her wrestler (the winner) was in the wrong.

I don't see a problem with the push off. It looks slightly rude, but she was probably just standing up. You're so fired up after a match, probably neither one of them even noticed it happened. Also painless compared to the rest of a match.

I do this to drive my wrists into the mat, which makes it hard for your opponent to get wrist control. If you have wrestled, you know that wrist control is a gamechanger so by doing this, you can't grab the wrist, she may be doing it for different reasons, but thats based on what I do! Hope this helps, sorry if it's really wordy lol

Coaches from the blue side were too competitive to notice the opportunity to correct dishonorable behavior, especially important in these formative years. I think the winning side carries special responsibility to not kick a horse while it's down, and they dropped the ball. The push on the neck was uncalled for, the adult lady's screams were unproductive, and the coach was too busy attributing blame to the other side to focus on their own side's behavior. In contrast, the other side's coaches were quick to deescalate emotions of their own athlete.

100% agree. I came to the comments to figure out what was the kerfuffle at the end of the match. That push off did seem very unnecessary. Her coach really should have said something other than "That's awesome" and make excuses. I just watched the 46 kg Girls Freestyle (Maya vs Kara-Lynn) and the girl in red is super aggressive throughout. But at the end when she is beaten, she shakes the opponents hand, give genuine thanks for a good match and even gives her a hug.

I have been watching a lot of these and there seems to be a little history/bad blood between the two teams. Most of you guys are misinterpreting the video entirely and aren't even hearing the video properly, because you don't have context. I also think a lot of you are blowing the push thing entirely, you guys talk as if she face palmed her face to the floor hulk style. I think she was just getting up and it just happened accidentally. Zella(white/WOW) wasn't even mad about some "push", she was mad because she didn't believe the ref made the right call. She said it wasn't a pin, but Alycia(blue/Cornstars) was saying "it was" a few times and then "congrats" followed by handshake. Right after Zella's sister/teammate Ollie said "Watch your mouth!" followed by "Watch your fucking mouth!". THEN the lady in black said "You got caught, it's okay!". It's interesting how people are saying Alycia was "classless" while completely ignoring the fact that she got cussed out and didn't retaliate. Everybody search Ollie's match on this channel, that girl is aggressive and a bad sport who will show you what a real bad intentional push looks like.

  • @tommyrq180

Oh, please. Women are “for real” but they are clearly less skilled, less conditioned, and pound for pound not as good. Just stop already. I appreciate how far women’s wrestling has come, but as a former D1 wrestler, please stop with the obviously dumb comparisons. If there were no separate women’s wrestling there would be only a couple women on teams here and there in HS, and they wouldn’t be competitive with any top men. Period. It’s like saying the WNBA is not “second best” to the NBA. They are second best to high school men’s teams. But why make these silly comparisons? Who are you hoping to impress? Just let women’s wrestling be what it is. Some very tough women out there, especially the Japanese team and several US women.
