also destroys the membranes in your digestive tract, particularly in the small intestine. Those long protein chains are very hard to break down especially after they've been exposed to heat since they become entangled. So they sit on the inner surfaces of your intestine and the amino acids cause damage to the cells due to the nature of their acidity. They aren't meant to just sit there for so long. This can lead to ulcers similar to how some people get ulcers because their own stomach acid is getting to places where it shouldn't be. Such as the small intestine. Or in the other direction, the esophagus.

As an endurance athlete, I’ve always lived on carbs. Over the past 2 years, I’ve developed chronic inflammation. I had pretty much accepted the fact that I would live the rest of my life in pain. 3 days ago I cut out all grains. In that short of time, my range of motion has improved dramatically. No more pain in my joints and just feeling overall better. I had added coconut oil and golden milk to knock down the inflammation, but the elimination of the grains is most probably the main part. Peace, all.

I quit eating all wheat for about two weeks since it caused me heartburn, fatigue, and anxiety. Well, I started eating it again a few days ago. In the form of breaded chicken strips, nuggets, and bread. My god I feel awful! My symptoms have increased 10 fold. I noticed I got a headache after my first wheat meal, but I didn't think anything of it. Then it got worse and worse the more I ate. Around day two of eating wheat again, I started doubling over in pain. That never happened as severely before. I was bloated so badly I couldn't stand up straight. And then there is the heartburn, holy crap the heartburn. I have never had heartburn this bad before. My throat is on fire and has been for a couple of days now. Not to mention I am hyper-salivating like crazy because of the reflux and it is driving me mad! I haven't had wheat since last evening, and I don't see me ever eating again! It's hard to believe just two weeks off of it could make me react this badly!

Hello Joshua. I think that a proper test would be to eat wheat as berries. Like a bulgur wheat soup or salad. Breaded chicken strips and similar foods contain enriched flour, which is a refined product with tons of additives. It's not a whole food. You might be reacting to some of the synthetic components that are added to flour. Greetings

@CookieMonster_ I also can't eat eggs, the only thing that happens to me with eggs is bloating, after I eat them I go up 3-5 pounds, I also have a sensitivity to other grains and I'm allergic to millet, millet is in a lot of gluten free substitutes like gf bread, gf sweets. I also have issues with oinions and coffee. Oats and coffee is a high risk of cross contamination with the growing part of wheat. A wheat allergy can have many of the same symptoms as other food allergies, but there is also celiac disease which is caused by gluten the protien in wheat, in the long run celiac can cause stomatch cancer, celiac causes alot of the same symptoms as a wheat allergy except celiac won't cause anaphylaxis or allergy symptoms, then there is also gluten sensitivity and it can also cause the same symptoms except it won't cause stomatch cancer. Look up the chart for celiac disease it will have all the possible symptoms, oh and I forgot to mention my wheat allergy also causes brain fog, I was convinced I was getting memory loss but after not eating gluten my memory is almost back to normal. But if you have multiple food allergies or food sensitivity they are not connected they are just what your body is reacting to. The best thing to do is eliminating diet.

I'm a high school science teacher, my school recieves free breakfasts that I used to have to help serve to the kids. I've been banned from serving, or even being in the same room when they are serving. I asked the wrong question. And I calculated the percent of calories from carbohydrates out loud, then calculated the percent of those calories that were wheat and corn. The nutritionist swears that according to the government standards everything they serve is healthy and good for the children, and I swear that they are ruining the kids livers, pancreas s, and slowly poisoning them to death, not to mention training their little bodies to have to be fed every hour and a half all day long. I wish I had seen this video years ago. Last year, my Dr and I found out that wheat was the root cause for my chronic fatigue, severe depression and anxiety, brain fog, constant migraines, joint pain, and rosacea. Which is an odd combo of symptoms. Turns out, I can't have wheat at all. I don't get intestinal pain, just brain and inflammation issues. The awful perpetual sleepiness, constant headaches, and inability to think clearly made me think I had a brain tumor or something. It was cumulative and kept getting worse over time until I was a shell of a person. Not eating wheat has basically given me my life back. I still get migraines from other triggers, but they're manageable, and I do deal with stress and minor seasonal depression issues, but to have all the other symptoms gone? It's been amazing. If I cheat and have a little wheat, I know I'm going to have to have a migraine the next day, need to nap a lot, and have anxiety and brain fog issues for 2-3 days after. I had no idea wheat could affect people in ways that weren't related to intestinal pain. So bizarre.

My personal theory is it's not the wheat itself. Our ansisters ate wheat for thousands of years. The issues started in the industrial age, wheat was modified both genetically and during processing. Not to mention the pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. My husband has suffered from gerd for many, many years. I removed wheat from his diet, including all processed foods. He was able to stop taking his PPI's (which btw are only ment to be taken for a short time, but he was prescribed these for decades), stopped taking Tums/calcium bicarbonate and now only has a tsp of baking soda with a glass of water every now and then. My theory is that the inflammation arises from your bodies reaction to the GMO and poisons the wheat is sprayed with, not the actual wheat.

Everyone from laborers on up to the Pharos had massive tooth decay and malnutrition, as their diets consisted of wheat, beer and honey, with some vegetables, but almost no meat. To their credit they did have toothbrushes, but to little avail, as the problem was more internal than external.

Before I stopped bread again, I had some so called health whole grain bread and next morning was having issues with my nose again. Its now been almost a month since then without any and it's the 7th day I've not had to even blow my nose. I'll never go back. 😷👍

The same experience I have for 50 years. It was last year 2020 that I discovered that any food with wheat is the culprit. Now I am free. But just 4 weeks ago I tried wheat meal again, and the symptoms returns with vengeance. I abstain again and became free.

@@yeshir2001 I'm so pleased for you. 😁👍. I've been writing everything down for the last 1 and a half years and also for the last 2 weeks at different times I had a couple days bad allergy. On both occasions it took 5 days before I got allergy, it lasted for the day, but horrible. I thought I would see how I got on and it was from hot cross buns. 🥺. I've made sure I continue staying well clear of anything wheat 🥺

I quit eating wheat a month ago and I’ve noticed that the dark blue circles under my eyes are nearly gone! I’ve struggled with them my whole life and now they’re almost completely gone. I’ve also noticed less joint pain, inflammation and gas. I used to have chronic gas and bloating from wheat. It’s also loaded with glyphosate, as are other grains including corn and oats, etc. Thank you Ken, you’re the very best!

Yeah, I have Hashimotos. I am not allergic to gluten specifically, but definitely tested positive for wheat allergies. I now know that's the culprit for constant sinus issues and stomach problems when I was younger. I now stay away from it. Learned the hard way and ended up with an autoimmune disease. Thanks for the info!

Dr. Ken, can you comment on the "sourdough" bread craze? For instance, there is an infodemic of misinformation out there right now that fermented sourdough (the homemade kind that takes 48-72 hours to make) somehow bypasses all the negative aspects of wheat. Is that true? Does home-made sourdough bread still cause inflammation? Again for clarification, I am specifically referring to the homemade sourdough bread where a person soaks the wheat with water overnight first, then adds a starter of some kind the next day, then bakes on the third day.

Went to the medical doctor they thought I was crazy. Finally, researched and got off gluten completely and changed my life no symptoms now.

@Cookie Monster my main symptoms were sinus infections constantly , swelling of my feet had to get a wheel chair for my husband to roll me to the dermatologist she put me on heavy steroids and also told me to never put anything with gluten in my mouth again, also stated having all kind of skin issues which I never had before . I have not had a sinus infection since going off gluten and dairy products because of similar proteins in dairy it can effect your system just like gluten no more swelling or anything.

Oh my, Dr. Betty thanks a lot for teaching us this and more information. I walked around the cafeteria and felt like vomiting, and this is when I was eating high carbs. At least I made my own meals, but it is disgusting what we are aloud to serve our country's precious children. It won't stop because it is "addicting". Some schools opt to hire different companies that do make healthy meals and the parents can chose online. I think that should be the way to go, but not cafeteria crap.

Wheat has been so dramatically hybridized that it’s not the food that people were eating 50-60 years ago and before; it has a very different chromosomal profile; the classic genetic modification people rightly should fear.

Dean Riley Do you think that Einkorn would be an exception? It is supposed to have 14 chromosomes, rather than the usual 28.

Another interesting thing of note is that breads used to often be made with fermented grains. Fermenting is one of the best ways to isolate antinutrients. Id drink german, non glyphosate soaked wheat(beer) before id ever eat it!

  • @amisoftau2659

    @amisoftau2659

@@BlasphemST Yes I was going to mention the fermentation. Until they came out with the instant yeasts a decade or two back, they (as traditionally done) fermented the dough over night, typically 7 hours. The fermentation neutralizes the problems with the grains and makes them human safe. Another method is to sprout the grains (typically soak in water for 24hrs). The hybridization (25 thousand iterations!?) is also a concern of course, as is genetic modification of the food. We have NO guarantee that such modifications are not harmful in some way for the human body. Another huge problem with GMO is that it's "RoundUp Ready" - they spray the crops with RoundUp JUST BEFORE HARVEST, and we really don't want those type of toxins in out bodies. So sourdough made from spelt or older grain types is probably fine for us to consume, and very similar to what was eaten 2000 years ago. However it's still carbohydrates of course, and especially if we're attempting to recover from decades of poisonous diet (SAD) and the bodily damage caused by such super high carb. diets, it's best to avoid all grains completely. Grace; apparently there were two common wheat types back 2000 odd years. One had 14 and the other 28 chromosomes. There are videos on KZread all about that. But yep, I'll eat Einkorn or similar once I find a supply of those grains/flours (Aus). At thee moment I buy spelt sourdough but it's only as a treat (one piece), and not every day. It's easiest (meaning no unnatural appetite) to have none at all.

Almost none of our food is what it was fifty years ago, whether it be fruit, grains, vegetables, dairy, or meat. All the mineral deficient fertilizers, pesticides, amd GMO don't help either. Air and water are worse as well. And government which is supposed to look out for the citizen bails out the industries causing the problems.

Grace Cotton Much of the modern wheat has something like 46 chromosomes to make the wheat shorter and with a bigger seed head; a mutation that wheat wasn’t meant to be. I have used einkorn which is a safe alternative.

I'm watching this video after eating a bowl of wheat cereal and practically going into a damn coma an hour later. Of course this isn't an isolated event, this has been happening for year and years. But I'm done. Today was just extra ridiculous considering prior to the bowl I'd been up for a good few hours, stretching, doing laundry, vacuuming, showering, studying and then I decided to have a bowl. Within about an hour I was on the couch feeling as if I'd been drugged. - the fatigue was so extreme I felt almost paralysed, in and out of weird dreams and just feeling so heavy. Eventually got up and felt so drowsy and muggy. I've been meaning to throw this box of cereal out but always argue that I dont want to waste the food I've bought but I'm done. Even reading back what I've just wrote, its obvious what's going on. My body cannot handle this stuff.
