WHY GLUTEN IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH with Dr. William Davis, author of "WHEAT BELLY"

Gluten Dangers. Why gluten is bad for your health and making you fat. Randy Alvarez, host of The Wellness Hour, discussing the book Wheat Belly with author and cardiologist Dr. William Davis. For more information visit drdavisinfinitehealth.com/
Every day, over 200 million Americans consume food products made of wheat. As a result, over 100 million of them experience some form of adverse health effect, ranging from high blood sugar to unattractive stomach bulges or “Wheat Bellies”. Dr. Davis reveals, that excess fat has nothing to do with gluttony, sloth, or too much butter: It’s due to the whole grain wraps we eat for lunch.

    I had IBS really bad. A friend of mine suggested that I remove gluten from my diet (her doctor was a holistic and natural doctor/nutritionist) who explained to her what gluten does to people. I removed wheat/gluten from my diet in January 2021 and went 5 months without it. I felt a million times better and my IBS was gone. I recently added gluten back to my diet to see what would happen. I went right back to bloating, constipation, sharp a abdominal pain, diarrhea, headaches and low energy. I removed it again 2 weeks ago and I feel so much better now and I can actually take a proper SH*T everyday! Removing gluten is the best thing I’ve ever done for myself, besides quitting smoking.

    Not only cutting out the opiate aspect of the wheat would help but by cutting out sugar and cutting a lot of carbs from wheat your magnesium status probably improved as these items use up a lot of magnesium and that could be oart of the mechanism with resoect to the sensory sensitivity . Low magnesium status is associated with hypersensitivity to sound and anxiety too, among other things. Magnesium is involved in more than 300 reactions in the body. Serum magnesium levels are not a good indicator of cellular levels . RBC magnesium is a better measure of status. Dr. Carolyn Dean believes you should be above 6.0. I give my autistic daughter a combination of magnesium glycinate, taurate, malate and a small amount of citrate..

I too had very bad social anxiety, depression and removed gluten from my diet but i also had bad candida and low vitamin levels. After treating all of these i am like the person i was as a child, outgoing, non fatigued and happy! So many people like 70% on my street have symptoms of Aspergers and many with bad anxiety and this is on the rise, maybe if everyone removed gluten treated themselves for a leaky gut and got all vitamin levels up anxiety numbers and depression will go down?

    Most dogs do. They don´t have many enzimes to digest several types of cereals, seeds and vegetables in their gut bacteria and stomach. That´s why putting dogs on a vegan diet is a very bad idea.

  • @ledenhimeganidleshitz144

    @ledenhimeganidleshitz144

    There are some similarities and many differences in the diet requirements of dogs and humans. Dogs are scavengers, tolerant of carrion if it is not too rotten. They do well on meat but generaly eat nose to tail. I have seen Cyotes raid watermelon fields near ruining a crop. Ripe watermelons are not long in the field. Would Cyotes thrive on them as a steady diet? Probably not. Can they get some water and sugar to prop up their ability to out run a pack of Cyote chasing dogs? Probably. If they manage to out run the dogs they return to being primary carnivores but will definitely scavengers garbage pails. In Arkansas they always look mangy, scruffy and poorly fed. Wild Couets are faster than Jack Rabbits! If you try to turn a dog into a grain eating vegan it will not be long before you will need a source of kanine insulin to keep your fat diebetic pup alive! Humans are quite simular in that respect except for the type of insulin of course! Humans a more tolerant of carbs but the end result is about the same.

  • @Lovethemedia

    @Lovethemedia

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes, if you read his books, he is stating that exact thing. Those grains are sugar, they raise your levels more so than a candy bar. This is why after eating pancakes, rolls, high carb/grain products, etc., you experience the same Sugar Crash you would experience after eating a ton of cookies, drinking a ton of pop, consuming sugar. However, the withdrawal and crash from all of these, the grains are the most Severe. You would be surprised if you stopped the grains, how much Less you would crave sugar, even as a sugar addict. His books are a bit technical, but Ive learned more about nutrition, my body, etc. from reading his books. Its too bad that this is looked at as a diet, it is scary that this isnt taken seriously by doctors, nutritionists, etc. There is a reason we are dying earlier than previous generations, reasons why our children have high cholesterol and blood pressure in their teens, why we are extremely overweight, depressed and anxious, and fatigued. We have been ingesting poison continuously, poison that we are being told to Ingest. It is infuriating to see this scoffed at by my doctor, but when going grain free, I got off my blood pressure meds, and I ate chocolate on the daily lol and two or three sodas on the daily. No one will ever convince me that grains are good. I wont go into how amazing my skin looks, how much energy I have, no brain fog, no depression, no anxiety, no overeating....my life is amazing now. Go into the store, read the nutrition labels on the food, and know that wheat/grains are in nearly Everything. It is disgusting, knowing that we are being poisoned! Its money, its a filler, its addictive, and we are the guinea pigs.

    I have been on 4 High Blood Pressure meds since i was 34. I am fit and my total cholesterol was really good. My doctors could not understand why my BP was so high at that age. The 4 meds got the BP down to around 130/84. I was supposed to be on these meds for the rest of my life. On my 50th birthday , i decided to experiment by giving up sugar , milk and wheat one at a time. When i gave up wheat, my blood pressure suddenly dropped to 112/76. Not even the 4 meds could give me those figures. I concluded that my BP problems must have been caused by the wheat and my body was naturally fighting it off hence my high BP. I stopped my meds for two days and my BP did not go up, went without the meds for a week and still had BP around 120/80. I now take a blend of flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, goji berries with my homemade coconut milk for breakfast and my BP is constantly below 120/84, my skin looks younger ,my brain is clearer and cholesterol is great.

My body was literally fermenting to death. I did not know I had Celiac until 2 years later after I lost everything. Conventional doctors are the WORST! The heart burn has disappeared, i feel more energetic and the amount that i eat has become so small because i don't get hungry as much and feel full after eating a little. I'm just so thankful for finding out the problem

    I'd given up gluten to address my IBS. But one night, not having eaten all day - I ate a load of gluten-free bread. And the next day, my IBS really flared up. It was then that I knew that wheat was the issue - not least because after eating bran flakes, I was always aware of an immediate qualitative change that I couldn't really define. But bear in mind that at this point - it was all about resolving my IBS. So, I didn't eat wheat the next day ... and here's the fantastic thing - I discovered it cured my CFS/ME (aswell as the IBS) My CFS had gotten progressively worse since my mid-20's (30 years ago). It had gotten to the point that I couldn't walk very far or fast (or stand for long) because after half an hour, I'd have a mood and fatigue crash. I'd wanted to go to a public firework display in November - but would only be able to do it if I took my bike to sit on (which effectively, was my wheelchair) because I couldn't stand for long ... so I didn't go. But a day or so after giving up grains, I went out for an evening stroll - and about 2 hours after returning, realised I hadn't had any kind of mood crash ... and was very excited that it could be due to the grainlessness. So the next evening, I decided I'd try and trigger a crash by walking faster - and when I got back, there was no crash. I also realised that my knees hadn't buckled once during my walk as they constantly used to ... and that I could walk over uneven ground without looking like a ragdoll. Now I was really excited. So I decided I walk a really long way the next evening - and I walked for maybe an hour and jogged the last few hundred yards home ... and I hadn't run for years ! And no mood or fatigue crash ! Evidently, my muscles just weren't receiving the signals to burn and work - because I used to get breathless walking at a normal pace ... which completely disappeared. The other effects were a quiet mind (none of the distracting mental 'static') - not being constantly hungry (I lost a stone without trying) - and being able to follow movie dialogue without effort (which I hadn't realised I was having to previously) aswell as being more observant of visual detail. And after 6 months, I also realised that I hadn't had a single suicidal thought ... which before was routine and daily. Giving up grains was truly transformational and had liberated me from neurological disability.

    Wow very similiar to me. Bran flakes lover here. I ate them on mass lol. But was always lazy. 25 to 35 i noticed digestive health problems along the way. I was pretty fit until i took an antibiotic and i think these just amplify everything. As you loose good gut bacteria. So i was taking big probiotics and getting better then i took box of cerial again. With hot water to make sure it wasnt milk. I went back into CFS and IBS. I think that confirmed it that its wheat that is the issue. This happened to the egyptians too. The wheat got infected with mold

    I was sick recently for about a month. It got progressively worse with symptoms including severe bloating (upper abdomen & chest) that lasts all day, migraines out of nowhere, and fatigue. The doctor couldn't figure it out. By the 3rd week, after starting meds for bloating, I noticed a slight decrease in bloating, but would blow right back up if I at anything containing flour (bread, flour tortilla, a donut, etc). I'm typically not a big bread eater. So, long story short I cut the flour products completely out. We had a Gluten free Thanksgiving. I am a little over a week gluten free and I feel great. All of the symptoms are gone. It took about 3-4 days gluten free to start feeling better.

    I stopped gluten and I have zero pain in my body. Holistic and Naturopathic doctors are the ones who are doing all the research and bringing these findings to light and then regular doctors finally figure it out. Healthcare is changing because people are no longer okay with treating symptoms and not the root cause of diseases. Doctors have been ruled by pharmacy companies and healthcare entities for profit over actual helping people heal their bodies and cure diseases

    I think wheat wasn't a problem 50 years ago. Today wheat has been bred to increase gluten, the chromosome count is up much higher than in the past. Also now with all the Pesticides which swell the gut and is found in wheat, it's causing so many problems. It's a crime what theses chemical companies have done to our food, to our health.

    Everything this guy says is absolutely right. So why is it, my sister & I (aged 42 & 39 respectively) have been diagnosed with Celiacs, but our parents have no issues at all consuming wheat products? I believe it's because our parents were raised on a different diet consisting of different grains, but things changed around the time we kids were born (mid-late 70's). I for one was raised on vegemite & cheese sandwiches (it's an Aussie thing). Not a day would go by that I wouldn't eat a wheat based product. I always had a healthy "beer gut" too, even as a kid. If I follow that diet now, I get horrendous gut aches, headaches, irritable bowels including bloody stools, fatigue & the list of health problems goes on. Ultimately a lack of nutrition due to irritable bowel & celiacs could result in leukemia & an early death Since changing my diet to gluten free, I can eat regularly without irritation or feelings off sudden hunger (at times this could be crippling), I have normal stools, no headaches, regular sleep patterns...& most of all I'm happy. I have also dropped to a healthy 70kg down from a peak of 91kg, in the space of about 6 months. This weight is perfect for my body mass index. I'm finally healthy.

    I have been on 4 Blood Pressure medication since i was 34. My blood pressure is still high when i miss a day of medication but my sugar and cholesterol levels were really good. I baffled my Doctor. Many tests and scans failed to point out the cause of the high BP. When i turned 51 this year i decided to give up Gluten and Sugar and after two weeks , my BP dropped to 117/72 for the first time. I decided to skip my medications for two days and my BP was even better 112/70. I bought a new BP monitor just to make sure it was correct and it's still below 117/75 everyday. I should have done this 21 years ago instead of popping pills. ''You are indeed what you eat''. My body has been fighting the poisons i have been putting into it , hence my high BP from the age of 32. I haven't felt this good in a long time.

    I absolutely love Dr. Davis however one thing he said in his discussion did not ring true to me, going off of sugar most certainly DOES give you similar effects of going off of wheat. I know this all too well personally from weening myself off of sugars (stopping cold turkey years ago) first, before I ever thought to get rid of wheat and all seeds of grass, due to issues with Candida and I can say 100% it is just like going off a low grade drug, with all of the 'fun' symptoms included. I am surprised he says this because he is a doctor and an advocate to not eat sugars, as mentioned in his books. I would think he would understand the dopamine release that happens in the brain when we eat sweets, and all the other similar wheat/sugar similarities. I really think he should collaborate with Dr. Lustig the crusader of a sugar free world and teach America and the world how to eat. Doctor Lustig mentions in his documentary 'toxic sugars' that the Paleolithic diet is a terrific way to cure type 2 diabetes. This lifestyle includes both a no sugar and no seeds of grass way of life. - Just food for thought. If two powerhouses like Dr. Davis and Dr. Lustig united with their factions of followers, I for-see wonderful things happening for the world of healthy eating, as Hippocrates said, "let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."

    I’ve been off wheat for a week today- cutting off pastas and breads (which I eat every single day) and avoiding everything that has wheat in the ingredients. I’m eating rice and potatoes in place of them, and my meals have become far more filling and spaced apart (because they aren’t as quick to make as the prior two are) Besides feeling really hungry for the first 5 days, I feel really light and energetic and today I found myself getting mildly hungry at around 3 pm- even though I skipped breakfast. I don’t have celiac disease, I just decided to do this to see if my body feels better and if I have any allergy to wheat. It’s a lot easier than I thought it would be, I’m surprised by what the doctor is saying.

    He never mentioned dairy or lactose intolerance. I'm surprised because that too can cause digestive issues for many folks.

    I’ve been diagnosed with IBS a few years ago but recently my IBS has been really bad lately. As soon as I went on a gluten free diet, ive not had a bad stomach since

    I found out I had a gluten allergy in 2016 with a blood test. My symptoms were all respiratory, even though I was tested for asthma and tested negative. Most symptoms were in my throat - constant "throat clearing" to the point I couldn't even hold a conversation. Doctor said I had acid reflux and prescribed Nexium, but I found that hard to believe the onset would be so bad. I never filled the prescription. He then decided to test me for food allergies and gluten allergy was positive. I'm not always compliant with a gluten-free diet, but after seeing this video I will be strict. I would love to know what Dr. David thinks of Einkorn wheat though.

    If you think you react to gluten - even if your blood tests came back negative to celiac - try cutting out gluten for at least 6 weeks anyway. I was tested several times on celiac and it always came back negative. Got diagnosed with IBS-D and put on medication. After trying out a glutenfree diet myself it turned out I react to gluten and am now free from all my horrible IBS symptoms. I heard that story many times now. Some people react to gluten without having celiac disease.
