For most of my adult life I've had rough ragged callouses on my heels, so bad that they would wear holes through the bed sheets. I was sanding them done once a week. Often I'd have bleeding. After about 6 months on Keto I noticed that I hadn't sanded my heels recently and now over 3 years of Keto and I think I might have sanded them once or twice in that time. I also can now go out in the sun shirtless and not burn. I was never able to tan, always burn, even with just 20 minutes in the sun. Now I can work all day in the sun with no shirt or sun screen.

I am 60 now and for about 30 years I had a large mole on my temple (seborrhoeic wart) which I guessed I was just stuck with. Switched to a Keto diet last year which evolved into Carnivore by the end of the year. During the Carnivore stage this mole suddenly started to change and within a few weeks had totally disappeared. This was the most striking improvement in a few skin issues I had and I couldn't really believe it!

Too much vitamin C can turn into oxalate and lead to kidney stones, build up in other tissues. This is why humans lost the ability to convert glucose into vitamin C so many thousands of years ago, per nutritionist Bart Kay. When a person greatly reduces their consumption of carbs, the need for vitamin C drops drastically. Carbs (glucose) competes with vitamin C uptake in cells. Remove the competition (glucose/carbs), require less vitamin C.

Apparently a more Atkins style Keto diet is now becoming popular as higher protein(as opposed to higher fat) has been found to be more sustaining and better for muscle growth as well as skin and joint maintenance. It also has lower calories than a high fat diet and is therefore better for weight loss.

But yes, facial lines have also changed dramatically, keto erased about 10 years from 55+. In fact, a 38 year old guy just asked me out & the seriously confused look on his face when I told him my age was priceless. 😂

I went ketogenic around 15 years ago, mostly because it helped me with narcolepsy. Right away some dental problems cleared up. I had normal sleep without narcolepsy. Rashes cleared up. No more yeast infections. I was surprised to see that I lost weight. I had made up my mind never again to diet to lose weight, because I always ultimately failed. Over time it has really surprised me to see people my age that I haven't seen in a long time and hear them say, "Why do you look younger than me?" I've been told everyone seems to age but me. What witchery did I do? I tried carnivore, but without green leafy vegetables I don't function as well. That's just me. Sometimes I think I was fortunate to be be more or less forced into the keto lifestyle. I never expected this benefit from keto. Keto is also good for bone health and muscle mass.

😊 Hi! I'm 54, (55 in December)...I usually shock people when I tell them my age. I went "All Natural" last year....my hair is now grey. With a little brown in it. I get lots of compliments too! I used to have my friend from work dye it dark brown, we would actually "split" the bottle of hair dye. Lol...we both had short to med length hair. Her hair is much coarser and mine is very fine.....but mine "sucked up" more hair dye! She just needed her roots done, mine was all over coverage. With circumstances ( Quarantine Lockdowns, and family health issues in her family) we stopped dyeing our hair. When hair salons reopened I told them to cut off all the brown and leave the grey. I am about 100 pounds overweight too ( not that you would guess that. Even Doctors and Nurses are shocked to see my weight on the scale! So.....I don't do the "Suntan" thing, never smoked, didn't do "drugs", drank alcohol somewhat in my twenties and part of my thirties.....never married or had children, ( always wanted both, but it never happened.) But marriage can happen at any age! There is still hope! (It's just Hard to find a Good Godly Man! Most of them are either too young or too old or already taken! Lol. 😊 Menopause came and went... 😊 Basically I never get guessed my age or wright. Most people guess me from late twenties ( when I had my dark brown hair) to mid to late thirties. (With my All Natural hair color.) And you can see plainly that I'm overweight....most people think, 200 to 210/215? Some are probably being kind. 😁 180 to 210 to 250 to 230-240, to 260 to 272...down to 241.....back up to 250-260. Then Whammy! Back up to 272! What I weighed 13 years ago! I list and gained about 30-35 pounds.....yoyo dieting. Since high school. 1985 I was about 175-180. Then up and down for DECADES. ( but I can still book up and down the halls at the Hospital, pushing a heavy metal food cart.....like Speedy Gonzalez! It's just getting harder as I put that weight back on! Very frustrating.... Arthritis and ADD doesn't help things either. I am a "Sugar-Carb-Sweet-Addict" and my mental issues (ADD and Anxiety plus OCD and Sometimers) makes it hard to focus on the plan.....to go Carnivore, then Keto. The "Sugar/Carb" detox is my downfall. Especially since last year. Working so short handed, doing the work of two or Three people, I give in to the Addict. Having little to no support system and bouts of Depression, I get overwhelmed and revert back to my "norm".....what's familiar. But.....I am watching as many inspirational KZread people as I can who have lost large amounts of weight and gotten physically and Mentally healthy doing keto and or carnivore. Doctors and Nutritionists and every day people too. I hope to be able to post good things happening to me "in time"! 🙏💪👍😊

My birthday was in June, my husband got me my favorite Carmel Cake which is an old popular cake in the South. Our friends are mostly Yankees in this military town and didn't eat it. within three days I had devoured the entire cake!! I get started and cannot stop. But I did. I made up my mind to do keto/carnivore two weeks ago. I cut out carbs except berries first then went to All meat with spinach salads and allow myself about three blackberries daily if I must. I intermittent fast until lunch and I eat meat until I'm full and usually it last until supper around 6. If I must snack (but rarely) I eat plain pork rinds. I keep my self busy to keep my mind off eating but usually I'm so full it's not an issue. yesterday I ate 5 lightly scrambled eggs and threw in fresh spinach and a bit of cheese right before the eggs were done. At supper I ate a huge piece of fried salmon with a sauce I made with a bit of butter, sour cream, Greek yogurt and some spices mixed up. If you feel you can intermittently fast, just shrink your feeding window about 15 to 30 minutes every day so that you are not longer needing breakfast. You can do it and you will break your sugar addiction after a while. Keep reminding yourself how great you will feel in a few weeks. 🙏😊

Last year I discovered a book called "EASY WAY TO STOP SMOKING" by Allen Carr. I read the book in 4 days. I stopped smoking on August 11th of 2019. Very happy to say, I have recently had my first year Anniversary of gaining common sense about smoking. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to stop smoking. My dad was health conscious but his idea of health foods were whole grains, vegetables and lots of fruits. He would sit and eat three whole mangoes at a time! I hate anything sweet but love fats especially cod liver oil which everyone else seemed to hate. If I had it I would sit down and eat lard right from the container but when mom started using Crisco I found it disgusting. The few times I made popcorn I wanted it cooked in coconut oil and saturated with butter with plenty of salt. The "air popper" made me hate popcorn. Hamburgers just did not taste good without fat so I always went for the cheap 30 percent fat ground beef. I always enjoyed my seafood deep fried in lard without any batter and do so to this day. In my home living by myself you will find the refrigerator full of leafy greens, eggs from my ducks, homemade yogurt and tubs of lard I rendered along with beef tallow. Freezer is full of butter, beef, chicken, ducks pork and fish I have caught. You won't find bread, or any baked goods in my kitchen, In my twenties I came up with a theory that since sugar causes foods to brown that is you had high blood sugar your skin would brown and age especially in the sun. Despite working outside most of my life I look pretty good for a 52 year old.

chargermopar hi. I liked everything you had to say. I have a question for you. I know Dr. Berry mentions lard as a healthy fat and since you use lard are you concerned that it is hydrogenated? I would love to start buying lard but have read that hydrogenated lard is bad for you. I would love to hear your answer.

I hear that comment and I'm not keto. I removed the processed food and most sugar, I added collagen and eat generally low carb. But I also have a friend that eats a lot of raw foods, fruits, nuts and a ton of green leafy vegetables and she looks way younger too. I think it's the removal of processed food.

My body responded right away to not eating the pyramid, which had me looking like a pyramid and feeling like a pile. Thanks again to you and all your pals singing the same tune. Big answers. Hi It's me I am back LOL. A few years back I tried keto and then switch to high carb potato diet. I am back because 4 weeks ago after 9 months of doing low carb I had severe diabetic symptoms. N between insurances and unable to go to the doctor I immediately got rid of all sources of sugar that includes hugh glycemic veg and all fruits. I have lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks My brain fog is gone, the skin rash, the headaches the dizziness the sweating all gone Diabetes runs in my family. I used a meter and had out of sight glucose numbers 4 weeks ago. I am down to normal now. We shall see what the dr says after my new insurance starts in October. This time keto is more enjoyable because I am doing more eggs less cheese, healthier fats basically doing clean keto as much as my budget allows. I haven't had bacon or steak in this round because too much beef doesn't sit well with me I do better with eggs, fish and poultry. Anyway back to watching and learning from you doc. Milk/dairy = galactose, which is more gluconeogenic than glucose (Like he said in this video) which means it is more aging than glucose. The body makes galactose and glucose if and when it needs it. When the body has to consistently process excess things it does not need, it causes aging on the inside and the outside, just like how exposures to toxins cause rapid aging. (Regular)Ice cream = dairy + sugar

Hi, I've been on IF, low carb (first) and keto (now) since 5 months ago. Apart from losing 58 lb, I can tell my skin feels a lot better. I started to really notice it about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It's like it's more hydrated and flexible than it used to be. I'm also under the impression that wrinkles around my eyes have smoothed significantly too (they looked really bad due a eye twitches caused by stress, which also have decreased a lot, I think it's due to magnesium supplements). I have also been taking a collagen supplement and vitamin C on a regular basis since about 3 months ago, because that is supposed to help the skin to shrink with the body when you lose weight so you minimize loose skin. I recently started to take specifically glycine since I saw some videos about it of people whose advice has taken me this far (so they seem to know what they talk about), and it's not very expensive (it is, but you take small amounts of it, so not a great deal). Oddly enough, in spite of being essentially protein (which should raise insulin), there are studies that proof it improves (lowers) insulin resistance and also helps the liver to get rid of some by-products of the body processing other aminoacids, and even to produce more bile (whcih is good if you eat lots of fat). It also tastes slightly sweet, which (apparently without peaking your insulin further than any other protein) makes a great combination with water + apple cider vinegar (also lowers IR) + lemon juice (citrates are good for kidney stones)+ ice. Of course none of these supplements would do a great deal without the basics (IF+keto), but they are not really crazy expensive and it seems there is solid science backing them up.

Dr. Berry, I am constantly thankful and happy that you are so respectful of people who are different. In this video you speak of vegans with so much respect while still differing in opinion about how to achieve optimal health. You also have spoken with kindness and respect to Muslims fasting during Ramadan in your Q&A videos. In a world where people feel free to bash and ridicule others harshly and unkindly on social media, such kindness and respect towards people who are different than you goes such a long way towards making the world a better place! I am 75 and started Keto in stages by quitting bread about 8 months ago. I hoped to lose weight, but I lost the arthritis in my hands, knees, and ankles. This was intriguing and I did more research and found the Keto Diet, 2.5 months ago. I've lost 25 pounds, my hypertension has dropped 30 points, and I have lost the tendency to bruise my forearms like old men. My work with horses (horse dentistry) is extremely physical; so not having forearms that look like I have been tortured is a blessing. I wish I would've started 25 years ago. It's funny, when I find a horse with soft teeth, I recommend magnesium, calcium, and phosphorous. This always strengthens the teeth within 90 days, but I never thought I might need these supplements. Oh yes, I drive 40,000 miles a year in my work and I use my phone for gps. Last night, I realized I can see the smallest letters on the phone without picking up my phone and holding it closer. This is a tremendous improvement in safety.

Just catching up on some of your older videos. I have been carnivore x 3 weeks at this point (Aug/22). I have Hashimoto's and was referred to a Rheumatologist. I saw him about 5 days ago. He did a full exam and commented how flexible I was (which can be from Hashi's) and how great I looked. He said that several times and then looked at my age again and said "Wow you are 56 and you look great!" And to top it off I don't have any signs of RA which made me happy. I told him I had switched to a carnivore diet and he said whatever I am doing to keep doing it. That most of his patients can barely walk and if anything changed to give him a call. I have been sick for over 7 yrs with Hashi's plus other chronic diseases, I have not felt this good since before 2015. If you are reading my comment, give carnivore a try. Do it for 3 months and if you don't feel better (which would be a surprise) you can go back to your old way of eating. I have such a decrease in the amount of pain of have that I have already started decreasing my pain meds. What do you have to lose? I thank Dr Berry for all he is doing. This has totally changed my outlook on life!

Thanks again for another great video, doc! I'm about to start the raw Milk Cure Diet. (Raw A2 milk-only fasting based on doctors McFadden and Porter.) Will add a pint of raw camel milk/day too. I've been mostly homebound the last 10 years healing from necrotizing fasciitis (flesh eating disease) that attacked my lungs and blood. Was healthy leading up to this, ate organic but not much animal foods my adult life. I was a Nutritionist so lots of supplements, herbs, etc. Then blindsided by this disease, within 4 days I was on life support not expected to survive. It left me disabled with 50% lung function, as well as fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, RA, and impaired immune system. As a Nutritionist I've improved far beyond my prognosis, rebuilt much of my lungs and no meds (except a half Norco when I'm able to walk for exercise). I've tried numerous protocols over 10 years but I'm still unable to work or function normally. Pain, crushing fatigue, and mental fog are the norm. I spend my days in bed wasting away a once vibrant life, but I've never given up belief that I can heal. The Milk Cure Diet, along w camel milk is a promising treatment, followed by a strict carnivore diet when it's over. It could take months or even a few years. I've been mostly carnivore the last 10 months with little change - I'm probably not strict enough - I added an apple and honey in my tea. If anyone is interested I'm happy to let you know it goes. 😊
