@@galdavelon Sure, do you have any questions about anything or anything you're finding difficult? General tips would be to experiment a lot with subjects, different mediums like graphite, pen & ink, watercolors (if you want to paint at all), etc.. Try a lot of different things and just go with the flow of what you enjoy. Draw or create things you like and enjoy and evolve from there. Keep experimenting and trying new things. And have fun :) Let me know if you have any questions.

My mom told me that I have no talent when I was around 12. Drawing was my biggest passion. I still like to draw and want to learn to do it at a higher level, but it’s been painful ever since. I’m now crying watching this video, I couldn’t agree more on what you’re saying about having the talent

Sorry to hear that, sometimes parents don't express themselves in the best of ways. Don't let it get to you! Follow what you enjoy and do your best.

Good basic concepts. You're right about the instant gratification problem and not giving the art practice enough time. Sometimes I'd give up on a drawing or painting too soon, or if I had a bad art session, it would affect my outlook, mood, and confidence making it hard to get back to doing art. Assess where the piece went wrong, try something different but don't give up too quickly. Also, remember that one bad art session doesn't define your skills. Practice, erase, keep adding details, layers or whatever to achieve the result you're aiming for. And never forget that tomorrow's attempt may turn out much better.

I think the biggest misconception about art school itself is that it is equal to or capable of being matched in regards to education and overall structure by KZread. You can absolutely find some of the same ideas and fundamental lessons that a freshman might be introduced to. But art school offers things that can’t even be compared to. The community, the critiques, the exposure to different people with unique stories and backgrounds. Not to mention you’re learning from professors that worked for decades to work and share their knowledge. I agree KZread is great. However, there’s really no comparison to a real educational system that instills such discipline and life changing habits and relationships.

Very good, even though we hear or see these things we tend to forget them when we focus at our emotions and not at the whole truth of things, Im beginning to practice for real and needed to hear this, thanks!

wow man im glad you covered the drawing from imagination thing. I swore my buddy drew dragon ball z from imagination when I was in 7th grade. Now I see he probably referenced a picture and practiced drawing it over and over

Haha for sure he probably used a reference in the beginning and then just drew it many times over and over. I did the same when I was in 4th grade, 1999. Drew dragonball Z and other characters from photos and then just repetition :) Glad it was helpful.
