6 Worst Incidents in Bull Riding History

Ойын-сауық

Bull riding has claimed the lives of over 20 professional riders, not to mention amateurs. The bull riding injury rate is approximately 10.3 times the rate of injury in American football, 13.3 times the rate of injury in ice hockey, and 1.56 times the rate of injury in boxing.
But the most haunting aspect is the unspoken rule that no matter what happens, the ride must go on.
So, do you think you have the grit to climb atop a raging beast for an adrenaline-filled eight seconds? If you answered yes to that question, you might change your mind by the end of this video.
Let’s take a look at 6 of the top worst bull riding incidents in human history.

Our oldest daughter had a friend named Paul Coronado, he was an 18-year-old bull rider, he was very good. We lived in Lakeside, California at the time. Paul was going to be competing, so we went to watch him. The shoot opened, they came flying out and Paul was doing great, but, after ab few seconds Paul went over the head of the bull, the horn entered Paul's pelvic area and ripped him open, Paul died two days later. his casket was taken to the rodeo arena on the back of a buckboard lead by 2 black horses, and it went arena twice, seeing someone you know die like he did and at such a young age is something you never forget. I actually put my daughter in therapy for a while to help her overcome the loss of her friend.

You probably shouldn't make videos about things you know nothing about. For starters, you dont hang on for dear life when riding a bull. It's a position game, not a strength contest. The bull will win EVERY TIME. Second, Bodacious did not "throw" his head back! He performed a double hop on his front feet, which caused the rider to lean forward because he was OUT OF POSITION, not "hanging on for dear life," as you say. Third, if you dont even know what year Lane Frost died, you definitely shouldn't be making bull riding videos. I cut this nonsense off at 4:30 mark. Get your facts straight before speaking about something you obviously know nothing about.

On July 30, 1989, at Cheyenne Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyoming, after completing a successful 85-point ride on a Brahma bull named Takin' Care of Business, who was owned by Bad Company Rodeo, Frost dismounted and landed in the mud. The bull then turned, knocked Frost over, pressed his right horn on Frost's back and pushed him against the muddy arena floor, breaking several of his ribs. Frost initially rose to his feet, took a couple of steps, waved for help, then fell to the ground; dying on the arena floor from internal injuries caused by the broken ribs.@@haroldwilliams3950

I grew up in Lehi Utah. The highlight of our summer was the Lehi Roundup Rodeo. We went all 3 nights, and they always saved the best event for last. The bull riding. We only lived a block away from the Rodeo grounds. Cotton Rosser would always roll into town on Wednesday. The day before the rodeo would start. My friends and I would always go down to watch them unload the bulls and pick our favorites. There was one year when I was about 10 years old that the bull actually jumped the fence at the other end of the arena. Awww, fun times. And a hat tip to Lecil Harris.

My worse being hit in the face getting knocked out. Luckily I didn't lose my eyesight in my right eye. Only nerve damage. Since then I ride with a helmet. Haven't been on since August 8 of last year. I'll 34 in May of this year 2024 and I as I get older I deal the with pain every day and the effects of TBI make my days difficult with tremors in my hands to begin at some tasks. In 2023 a friend of mine that I rode bulls got diagnosed with Colan cancer, I decided to ride one last time in his honor,. So I started training and working on building my strength back, but October 2023 my health became like riding a bull it's self. I was having multiple seizures severe tremors and loss of balance. I spent the rest of 2023 using a cane to help and at times a wheelchair. I look at it now and feel this is God's way of telling me no more you're so I won't be competing in the same arena that I started in for my last ride.

@lylesommers5018 I used to think that as well until I saw first-hand, up close & personal what this sport has done for some of the riders & their families. In Texas, I saw a lot of men that were, primarily at a disadvantage both financially & academically. They never went to college because of finances or grades. A lot of min. wage jobs were usually filled. Bull riding became a way for them to provide for their families. They didn't have to conquer insurmountable tasks in order to get food on the table for their family. Nor did they just "give up" & be on welfare. Its not all glitz & glam like you see on these national PBR tours. It would start at the local county fairground. They worked hard for it & it would pay off for them. I have a tremendous amount of respect for someone who works hard (despite the cards being stacked against them), to provide for their family. And for some, this afforded them an opportunity that didn't exist for them any other way.....but it still is crazy.

He was barely 14 and has never actually rode a fucking bull he was 14 for fucks sake IT WAS A PHASE for crying out loud nobody not a single human being WANTS to die by having your chest crushed by a violent stomping enraged beast or in your words "doing what he loved" but considering it was the very first time he'd ever actually done it nobody can say he loved it, he loved the allure of it he probably loved how macho the guys looked that did it and how the girls looked at those guys so he got a big belt buckle and cowboy hat and got himself killed and it's a tragedy I mean absolutely no disrespect to him or his family but I think people should be show there respeçt with fucking honesty not sugar coated horse shit I'm sorry but I just get sick of the whole "died doing what they loved" bit hell could anything actually be worse than that when you think about it, doing "what you love" is usually when your happiest and most at peace now think about yourself enjoying that pastime of your own when a violent painful turn of events happen suddenly and ultimately claiming your life making your very last moments the most awful terrifying and painful you ever experienced and that kinda changes the whole outlook on people dying "doing what they love" huh

I razed several Riding bulls for the PBR in Florida in the 80s ..The meanest was a Buttheaded Holstein bull they Named Twister 🌀 🌪 And one powerful bull I named Joker 🃏 And they rename it Stinger ..He was tuff and hard as a Rock 🪨 And looked like he came from hell with long straight pointed horns .But he turned out to be a big old baby who spent most of his time out of the pens he just walked through those fence panels like they weren't there spending his escape time Grazing up the south side of I-4 lol .At night he walked back the same hole escape through and back in the pen .. I raze one more bull before I retired .Its nane was Battman .I never received any information about him because he was shipped at to Oklahoma ?

Good video showing and telling, yes I know about riding bulls cause I did it. My friends that wanted me to ride bulls and I did, got broken up a lot. Not me cause I new how to ride, and when to get off the bull I was good at it. So good I stopped riding bulls, I loved it but I loved myself more. I rode bulls in the year 1982 in FLA for a short time that year. I can say I know about riding bulls, I did love it but don’t want to die for it. I am 66 years old now from watching what I do , and a lot of luck. Thanks again for showing and telling, have a good one see ya next time see ya bye.

When I was 9, I competed in championship marble shooting competition. I had been in the sport for almost 4 yrs., shooting at some of the largest vacant lots in our county. I remember twisting my thumb so badly they thought I would never compete again. After much physical therapy & not competing for almost 6 weeks, I was able to return to the sport. I was proud to have competed against some of the greats in the sport; Thomas "Sparky" Willians, Danial "Cootie" Johnson & my dear friend Joeseph "Chippy" McSlain. I wear the many scars from my competition days proudly.

With how much is available on Utube, I don't want to invest 25 minutes of someone telling a story & not having any exciting footage to go along with it....especially coming from a utube channel called Extreme Edge. Show us some extreme footage....please

A lot of your facts you brought up are inaccurate but it was a good video to watch Silva died by getting his spur hung up in the flank rope and was stomped on his chest and slammed in the ground each time the bull kicked. He was a very humble person with a passion and drive to be the best. All of these men were great men. This sport is very dangerous but it beats in our hearts we know the risk and we lean on God first and our preparation to strive to push our limits and rise to the occasions every time we nod. Every sport has accidents nothing is for certain what is for certain is we all are on barrowed time and when the good lord calls us home it’s our time. What matters is what we as people do with our time and the passions God puts in our hearts to want to do and if we lean on him and do these things for him we know our time here was used perfectly because we know his purpose is to impact and help others which all of these men did. To people that read this or think about this sport there is a huge fear factor to every man doing this no matter the passion but God helps us conquer that battle every time we nod and fear is False. Evidence. Appearing. Real. That is a strong tactic the devil uses to stop us from the purpose and progress God has for us when we are just thinking of the flesh. So all I can say is know God know Jesus and build a relationship.

If you are going to do a video about bullriding, learn the correct terms. Also you left out two very familiar deaths. First Glen Keeley of the PBR. The second one was, I bet you won't guess it but Lane Frost. You mentioned the movie that somewhat displayed his life but didn't mention him? Also, legs are not clamped to the a bull. Bullriders don't use leather riggings and it is the PRCA not the PCRA.

How is it that Lane Frost didn’t make this list? Not only was he number 1 in the ranks of bull riders, his death caused waves in the US. His death was the reason protective gear was made and has led to the research and evolution of that protective gear that protects cowboys today. No Lane and Tuff Hedeman is number 6?
