6 Green Flags on Dating You Should Know

The truth is, a lot of us have experienced the big ‘no-nos’ of dating, like the little clues that key us into whether or not this person sitting across the dinner table from us is a keeper or not. However, we pay attention to the red flags so much, that we may miss out on the green flags - the good things about the person sitting in front of you. Is the person you're dating really the one for you? Let's take a look at some of the green flags on dating!

Eh... I thought the same when I was with my ex. I've never been a guy that talks a lot, in fact I have very little to say... she on the other hand was (and still is obviously) a logorroic type of person, which is fine for me since I like listening to people talking. At the time we both thought it was great to be like this because I would've basically filled her desire to talk about things by listening to her. Spoiler: at the end she realized it wasn't exactly like that on her mind... she basically NEEDS to talk all the time, even for hours about little things just to not think (even for a second) how she feels bad with herself or other bad things that usually happen with her family... yeah basically she realized that we were incompatible... I don't want to get too much into detail but we broke up peacefully because we weren't talking anymore like the old times.. literally there wasn't much to say most of the time, I was still deeply in love with her but she wasn't anymore... so we had to broke up the relationship... Don't get me wrong, we are still friends and all kind of things. We talk, play, watch tv series, films... the fact is that after a year and a half happened a few things (VEEEERY BAD THINGS) with our group of friends and we started to talk more after a very long time... and yeah, I fell in love again, but she didn't.. for well, obvious reasons. So here I am.. with my heart DEEPLY broken, so broken that I am now depressed eheh... these things always hurted me so much, damn. And to be honest she's even worried about me, since we are veeery close to each other... God I love her so much, I wonder.. I hope that in the distant future we will be together again... I hope...

Number 5 is a bit of a funny case for me. My sweetheart suffers from ADHD and often multitasks and tinkers around. But she made sure to clarify that first thing when we started dating. So if we're having a lazy moment or a casual talk, she'll often drift off and lose herself in her games or videos, and I know it's not out of malice. Curiously enough, if we're hooked on a subject, we can talk for hours and retain that feel-good engagement. All in all, communication is always the key!

  • @quackmonkey1

I'm AuDHD and my partner is ADHD and we'll just both play games while talking (parallell play anyone?) and it ends up leading to some really in depth conversations since there's no expectations between us regarding eye contact and visible engagement. He'll tell me if he's bored or distracted and vice versa, and that communication is what matters

Oh yes, I suspect I have ADHD and I feel the same way. Sometimes it's even easier for me to focus on a conversation if I'm doing something (not intellectually demanding) on the side. My family has always ruled it off as me being rude, not paying attention, not listening and not respecting those I listen to and that always felt unfair to me. On the other hand, if I'm really engaged in the conversation, I often lose track of everything else around me. Hmm. Seems like my family has trouble leading engaging (for me) conversations, now that I think about it.

I’m in a long distance relationship. We met when we were 14-15 yrs old. Something clicked and we were best friends since. We started dating in December. Best decision I’ve ever made. He’s my twin flame, we can look at eachother and just know what we’re thinking or feeling. We have a lot to learn about eachother but we can sit in silence and still be comfortable and happy. We smile and joke around with one another, so much we complain our faces hurt. We send super long lovey dovey and reassuring paragraphs to eachother. We always make sure the other is safe and eats/drinks water. We communicate and love everything about eachother. I’ve finally found the one after all these years of dating the worst people.. 😭❤️

When my husband first met my cat, she bit him (she has never bitten anyone before.) He forgave her, and was patient getting to know her. He never held a grudge or said anything bad about the incident. When I saw how forgiving he was, and how he respected her space, I knew he would do the same for me. And I was right. When I’m in a bad mood, he doesn’t hold it against me or thing that I’m mean, he respects that I have bad days and supports me. And I do the same for him.

I kind of have a similar experience with one of my families older cats, his name is ironically cuddles and while me and him are not cuddly in the slightest we have grown a mutual respect over the past couple of years. he understands when I won’t budge on something and vice versa and we acknowledge our mutual understanding every so often by me making eye contact with him and then gentle patting his head. You sound like you got a keeper in your husband there Celby. Patience and understanding can be a rare trait these days

On our first date, we went for a walk around campus and eventually decided to grab lunch at one of the restaurants that were around. We ate, then literally talked for hours. We had been talking for like 2 or 3 hours, when he realized his class was about to start, so I walked him there. We texted every single day nonstop after that, and went on more dates most days every week. I knew from that first date that there was something between us, and now I'm 100% confident I've found the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, and he's told me the same thing ❤️

@Cody Welborn Thank you, the thought that someone I've never met cares is actually really comforting. It helps me feel hopeful for the world. I'm doing much better, all things considered. A close friend of mine had passed earlier this year and when another friend told me they were feeling suicidal, it triggered some anxieties about losing another person, while also weirdly enough causing me to emotionally relapse into feeling suicidal as well. Currently I have my rabbits (which, to be completely honest are complex and fragile, but awesome creatures), and in the comment above I mentioned beginning to talk to someone who I may end up being truthfully interested in. For me, it doesn't entirely matter how that relationship ends up, as life is more than the immediate gratification; I do have long term plans, although sometimes I lose sight of that. I want to become an army chaplain and help those who've struggled with the same things as me (since army chaplains tend to act more as extremely confidential counselors for soldiers going through hard times). Talking to a counselor today, she mentioned a lot of things in my past which I struggled/still struggle with were out of my control. I think that can change over time, since I'm in my early twenties/becoming an adult now. :>
