I like the insight that emotional attraction doesn’t just happened in romantic relationships. I didn’t thought about that, but I realize how I’m emotionally attracted to my friends. Just being with them is more than enough for a relationship.

I used to have what I felt to be a strong emotional connection to someone, but over time things have changed and they seem to have withdrawn and become less communicative and open. I don't know why exactly this happened and I don't really wanna push them to explain why but it really hurts that that connection seems to have gone away

Exact same thing happened to me you're not alone buddy. They might be going through a rough time at least that's the reason in my case sometimes stuff just happens but it's not necessarily over yet, the connexion can come back sometimes. I suggest a great start would be trying to talk it through with them without forcing them. It's even possible that they will be glad you asked cause it shows you care aboit them.

PsychGeek That's really not always true. Those who are very shy will struggle with eye contact. Those who are anywhere on the autism spectrum will as well. Being shy or on the spectrum doesn't cancel your ability to fall in love. 🤷‍♀️ As for me, I get the butterflies especially from people who seem very smart and able to emotionally tune into me. And then I struggle with eye contact because I am scared of what they might see in me.

I think emotionally attraction is love, for me at least. Whenever i fall for someone it is always bc of these things and not over physicall appearance. May sound cliché but if im attracted to your personality and values i automatically think you look good. Idk if love isn’t emotionally attraction, then what is? Physical attraction that fades with time? Dont make sense to me, love is deep and i dont think physical attraction is that deep. And of course you can be emotionally attracted to your best friend but i think its two completely different type of attraction and types of love.

I think another sign of emotional attraction is they are comfortable with the silence. To me, it seems most people need to feel some kind of connection with another person by talking or doing activities together. But with someone who is emotionally attracted to you there is no need. You both can sit quietly on a couch, starring at your own phones, or watching a movie, and still don't feel any kind of awkward silence or feel uncomfortable with small talk. They can have said nothing the whole time you hung out and still miss you when you part ways. Basically, they don't fear the silence in your presence.

It’s a relief to see what I’ve experienced this past year into words!

As a demisexual, this is the main type of attraction I experience. I know it can be different for every demi, but this is the main reason why its very hard for me to like anyone easily. I tend to look for personality and put lots of importance on it, considering looks doesnt tell me much about someone. Sure, looking nice is okay but I mostly experience only mental/emotional attraction than physical/sexual attraction. I dont know if this makes sense but the way I experience sexual attraction is through the mental segment. Humor paired with intelligence along with an open-heart and mind gets me going ☀

Oh yes I’ve felt emotional attachments to several people over the years. One of which is a very good friend of mine. I once wanted more than that but she wasn’t having it, so after that period of getting over the rejection, I moved on from it and were just good friends. It’s gotten to the point where I can tell something’s wrong through a text. I can’t explain it, I just feel it and I’ll ask her if she’s ok. Sometimes she’ll tell me and sometimes she won’t. She does the same thing to me from time to time. We used to texted each other every day and it’s now every so often, but we still check on each other after we haven’t heard anything for a bit.

Yeah... I thought I had a strong emotional connection with a friend I fell for in the past. I sure was attracted to her, but I guess it was one-sided, and what I thought it was her being emotionally attracted to me was just how she acted around her friends, especially on a vulnerable state. Nowadays, I feel this connection might have been real to me at the time, but now it looks just fake and weak. When we went our separate ways, I went way out of my way to keep this connection strong, but it was like she didn't cared if drifted apart. I know she had no obligation to keep being my close friend, but it still hurt a lot. Sometimes it's hard to tell these kinds of connections apart, but that's how life goes. It was not bad to feel like this, but sometimes I feel like all my feelings and things I thought were only an elaborate illusion I made for myself to make it real, and that feel awful.

This video is mind blowing, and I can relate to everything that’s been said! I shareed sure a strong emotional attraction with someone and we went through all the signs! You videos have been helping me a lot as of late with sifting threw my own emotions. giving me questions I should ask myself of the reasons why I feel they way I do. And also giving me helpful tips on what to expect on love even though love doesn't go by a rule book or check list. And since I've never serious fell for someone ( I think?) Its really helpful to hear that these things are possible even though I put myself down on such ideas. So thank you for all that you do it helps to know that people have the same thinking prosseses when these questions come to mind and not the classical old questions that have been over used to many times.
