In South Africa we usually spell Thandi without the E, and its pronounced a bit differently. We say 'taan-dee', with a longer softer 'a' sound (rather than sounding like the word 'and'). So happy to see a South African name on the list though! Would love to you to do a list of them, since we have so many different languages to draw our names from xx

For the record, I’m actually starting to see Melanie pop up recently and it surprised me. My name hasn’t been that popular since the 70s and it’s rare to see another Melanie. Also, I actually love my name... It’s very feminine, but strong.

I love MOST of these!! Vallie is my favorite though, because I love the V and L sounds in "olivia" which is my name, and this is such a cute spin and I might use as a middle spot for a girl!!

Just getting around to watching this! As a teacher there are So many names on this list that have been popping up over the last few years, some of my family names too. My great grandmother Ethel went by Montie! I have a niece Winnifred (Winnie) and an aunt Christina (Chrissy). I’ve recently moved to the US and Avery is a very popular boys name here. There was a (not very nice) character on Swap thing called Avery. Bellamy is a male character from The 100! My friend just named her little girl Ainslie. They don’t have the Ainsley Harriet association over here like we do! So many lovely ie names. Lottie isn’t very common in the US so I’ve been leaning towards that recently 😊

I love names ending in -ya (eg Maya, Anya) and think that would be a cool video idea. ☺️

In Canada, we use the word prairie a lot! 😂 But, meadow is sort of poetic, so I don’t think that word is often used. Backwards to the UK, I guess! 🤷‍♀️

EmeraldCanary13 as someone whose real name is a “trendy” variant on a regular name, I’d honestly warn away from the more “bizarre” spelling variants. It’ll cause your kid constant problems and headaches!
