How do you actually put an end to the practice of perpetual self-sabotage known as procrastination? Well you could try all the planning strategies, productivity apps and color-coded schedules in the world. But, they won’t work until you address the emotional triggers at the heart of procrastination.
When you break it down there are really just five procrastination triggers that get in our way most often. And once you start to identify these triggers at their core you can finally stop putting things off.

1 - Fear 01:14 - (Fear of tasks, failure, being judge, not living up to our expectations, not living up to others expectations, messing up, discomfort, not knowing what to do next) Solution: Try to do a procrastination log (what's actually happening right now? What emotions are you experiencing? What are you afraid will happen if you fail? 2 - 02:30 - Perfectionism (Adaptive or a maladaptive) Solution: Set a realistic deadline and commit yourself to make your project as good as possible up until that day. Alternative solution: Let the first version SUCK 3 - 05:05 - Self-sabotage (I knew that I was a total failure) Solution: Understand you do have value to bring to the world Think about the success you already have, no matter how small it is, and how far you come since it got started Stop to think about yourself damn much, focus on your work and the people 4 - 06:17- Overwhelm (Have a lot of stuff to do... And do nothing) Solution: You need a plan with a reasonable timeline Breaking down the large goals and doing the small tasks and spreading them out over the period of time (Consistency is the key to making progress into your goals!) 5 - 08:28- Exhaustion Check into your phisical state

What helped me reduce my procrastination was understanding that motivation often comes after we get started with an activity, and not before. Example: It’s hard to start reading a book, but once you finish the first page the motivation often kicks in.

I have sometimes the problem that I know, why I procrastinate or why I did that thing wrong, but I still do it, probably because it is easier than to really go get things done and do the thing you wanted. When I wasted enough of my time I sometimes can catch myself and just do it. Thank you Matt for your videos, they are of an awesome quality, I really appreciate it that you are willing to put the effort in that and not slack of even if you have a solid fan base.

I was literally procrastinating the last couple of weeks about making a dr and dentist appointment, this week I did both! Then as soon as I got off the phone with the dr office, this video was posted. I found it funny. I have this mantra of getting it to 80, once a project is 80 percent done, I know from that point It will need to be worked on less and less. I’ll still work on it to make it better but if the due date comes for that project I know I’ll be okay to let it go at whatever level it’s at. Thanks for a great video Matt!

Thanks for this video ! I was talking yesterday about many projects I've never finished to my friend because I'm a procrastinator... And thx to your video, it brought me light in my life. I understand why it "blocks". You're already described procrastination but this video is much better, well released !

This is really great. Even when we know some of these things, seeing someone talk openly about it in the way you did here really helps. The comment, "stop thinking so much about yourself" hit different lol.

Best one I’ve ever seen. This video can teach people to be more conscious when procrastinating. Thank you ❤️ from Russia
