    I'm from Canada and live cold countrues and cities like Yakoutsk and Russia. I have a great idea for you guys in Yakoutsk. You should creat a outdoor ice hockey tournament and call it (The coldest hockey tournament in the World) I bet people from all around the World would come to play in it !!

    Hmm, I think that sounds too cold. When I went to school, our limit for outdoors PE was -15°C or -20°C. (I'm from Northern Finland) I bet the Yakutsk people can handle colder than that, and have better boots etc. but the international guests would be in trouble. Maybe not Canadians but the others.

    I think it's too dangerous to be outside during the whole length of a hockey game there in winter, haha. Doubtful playing the game will make you warm enough to last without getting frostbite for that long. But Yakutsk should get a KHL team ;)

  • @hockeyiscanada

    @hockeyiscanada

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@jontiswe yeah, true in ways. But, don't forget that people in do do phyiscal work and sports in cold places like Yakoutsk. I even seen outdoor hockey rinks in Yakoutsk . Of course it would be important to plan something like a tournament, like having heat on the benches to warm up players, make sure players dress good enough, have warm drinks availible for players, etc. Maybe Yakoutsk will get a khl team someday, the city keeps developping.

    Come live in Charlotte NC. We have summers at around 40 degrees Celsius. 90 percent humidity and a due point just as high. Most days you will not feel a breeze, the leaves on the trees don’t move. It’s stagnant air and it’s humid. It really makes me sad to get hot. I am miserably hot as I write this. 😭

    Thank you very much for this video. I like very much to hear about life in Yakutia. It is fascinating! But isn´t it possible to use electric heaters for car engines in Siberia? That is very common here in Scandinavia. In our climate it takes an hour or so to preheat the engine before you start it. An engine heater consumes about 500 - 700 W (220V) and they are easy to install.

Now it isn't that cold in winter (this winter we have -15 and I am so happy, cause it didn't happen for 10 years or so. Finally we've got a true winter - though not for you haha).

I would have expected the required temperatures to be higher, starting at minus 30 perhaps, but I suppose Yakutia is so cold that minus 30 must seem like just a normal (not extreme) winter temperature ? I'm curious ; does it ever get so cold that there are activated days for adults ... days so cold you don't have to go to work and stores and offices close ?

    Having pipes above the ground is genius, honestly. In our capital city here in Ireland HALF of the water in pipes leaks. Because the pipes are so old and underground they are hard to fix. It's difficult to even know where there is a leak. 😪
