OMG that's so amazing, really thought that this case would go forever without being solved

This is why I uploaded my DNA kit to both GEDmatch and FamilytreeDNA and opted in to allow detectives use of my ancestry. I encourage others to do the same. My hope is also if they can keep current with new evidence we won't have any more serial/cold cases.

I wouldn’t hesitate taking a dna test. People are so paranoid these days!!

DNA rocks.

This is spooky I just watched a segment on Unsolved Mysteries about that very same case the other day. I live in Portland and I travel occasionally to Seattle and I'm going up there in two weeks. I wonder how come they didn't release the name of the suspect?

We take a DNA test through one of the websites and my father found out he has a first cousin he never knew of. Based on the DNA, the unknown family member was a child of my father's aunt or uncle. However, paternal grandfather and grandmother, neither them has a sibling of the unknown's parents. The cousin that appears on the list, his father and mother have no relationship with either my father's family (not aunt or uncle of any side of my father). We doubt that maybe one of my father's cousins was switched at birth. We tried to contact him to find out more information but he never replied back.

It's so interesting. My FIL is adopted, and has always wondered about his genealogy. So we got him to do a test last year, and he found a biological 1st cousin as well. He contacted her, but has never heard back. I often wonder if his existence was a shock to the biological family. I'm hoping for answers for him someday, and for you as well.

I'm confused. Exactly how did they find out who he is? I get he was related to that woman.

The killer’s DNA was left on the female victims pants which was uploaded to the same database as the cousin.

This is to get others who with reluctance might relent and send their blood to the darabase...

They are not secret relatives. You know your aunts and uncles and their kids. Do you know your great great aunts and uncles and their descendants? There not secret you just don’t know them. All the people around us descend them thus we are all cousins.
