Raised as Paul, Genetic Genealogy Helped Him to Discover His True Identity

Paul Fronczak spent his life wondering if he was a baby who’d been kidnapped from a Chicago hospital. As an adult, DNA tests confirmed that detectives had gotten it wrong. CeCe Moore, founder of The DNA Detectives describes how she was able to use commercial DNA databases to help Paul uncover his true identity.

Working with John and Jane Doe cases looks like a wonderful way to at least give a family closure. A distant relative disappeared on a trip from the west coast to the center of the country. Many years later his mother told my mother and me how hard it was not to know what happened to him. She thought he was dead but wish she could know for sure.

I hope you're able to uncover what happened to your relative. Technologies are evolving every day and criminals are finding it harder to hide.

His mother believed he went off the road in the Rockies. I am distant enough in area and kinship that I would never hear if they did find him. The mother would be over a hundred if living and not close to the father so I doubt anyone would care anymore. She told my mother this and I was there and heard it. They had been close since they were young. Being a mother, I thought how awful to lose your only child that way.

She is being kind by saying the FBI made the mistake because tbey didnt have access to DNA. I know this story, they just wanted to close the case. How do you find a random abandoned kid and say " here you go, this is your lost kid." A good detective work can do better than that. They were trying to close 2 cases at once. They dropped the ball.

@@karenv5103 I saw a different video after this that said his birth name was Jack. They didn't disclose his birth surname but I'm sure he knows it. And Jack's twin was Jill. Jack and Jill. This mystery just keeps going. Both his birth parents are dead. But they showed an old photo of them, taken in the 60's or 70's by the styles, I'd say. And extended family doesn't know much as "no one was ever to talk about the twins". Some didn't even know about them. And they've also found the "real" Paul. I think in Michigan.

Yes, a very odd story. I wonder if the parents being secretive about the twins means they actually sold the girl and abandoned the boy when they couldnt sell him? Or worse. At least the man figured out who he is. If it wasnt for him not feeling like he belonged to those who raised him, it never would have been found out
