Woman Meets Biological Father She Didn't Know About Through DNA Test

Ойын-сауық

When Kristie's daughters Taylor and Maddie gave their mother a DNA kit as a gift, she had no idea she would end up finding out she had a different biological father. Kristie tells Kelly Clarkson she always knew there was something different about her growing up, but she didn’t know that someone else was her biological father. Kristie gets the surprise of a lifetime when Kelly brings out her biological dad to meet her for the first time in person.

I dont think she was adoptive. She was left by her mother with her "father" who raised her and he thought he was her father and her 6 other siblings. It seems like maybe they aren't on the best terms as the daughters said their mom had no role models.

This happened to my husbands family. Just last year my husband’s half brother (who he didn’t know existed) called up his father. He had found his biological mother through a dna kit, and his mother told him who his father was. Not only did he find both biological parents, he also discovered that he had 10 siblings. We had a big family get together last summer.

Heavylevy578 hey I’m not 100% sure, but I believe it’s most likely the 23&me kits, they have an option for you to see you biological relatives that you match dna with who have also taken the test. So I see a couple of my cousins and my relatives on there as high dna matches. And if I happen to have a half brother or sister that matched who took it, they’d show up as well.

Some of ya'll are being silly. Lets use some logic here. Not everyone looks like their parents. Some people are spitting images, some are a blend, n others look like other people in their family tree. N omg some people just look like themselves. It's the beauty of DNA. We don't know what her mom looks like or their heritage. If you look closely, you can see the similarities. Shape of their eyes and curve of the nose. Even a bit of the cheekbones. Her features are of course very feminine. Father has a unique look about him. But men like him create gorgeous people all the time.

I got a text thru Facebook from her 2 years ago saying "uh I think I may be your daughter" and asked if I could confirm and I said "of course I can, I've loved you everyday for 23 years even though we haven't been together". But we met face to face not long after and she's just take your breath away beautiful and funny and I'm so blessed to have been able to re-connect with her so I know exactly how this guy feels.

So does she disregard the dad that raised her? it must be heartbreaking for a father (and rest of the family) to find out the daughter you had no doubt was yours, suddenly be someone else's daughter. But when she said she didn't share anything with the family that raised her, makes it seem like she was already outcasted by them. Regardless, it's a true blessing she found her real daddy who is able to truly love her. It's almost like she became a child for a moment and all the times she was sad, alone and off in the past was cured. Like the love was able to reach back through time and fill in the voids. beautiful. So happy she found her real daddy.

But one has the right to know where one comes from and also the health factor is extremely important. You can't deny someone knowledge about their identity. It's inhumane. Also we are 50/50 nature and nature. Some people want to deny their nature to the fullest but they are just hurting themselves.

@@bethm5791 Do you know their stories though? Do you know exactly how it came to be that you had to be put up for adoption? Also knowing about health risks is important. It's your decision anyways but I hope you don't turn away any full of half siblings because they are not to blame for what happened in the past. It's a horrible feeling to be rejected.

As someone adopted, my parents told me my brother and I could search for our biological parents if we had questions and they would support us. We chose to not. Our parents are who raised us. Not all adopted kids want to be found. Trust me. The ones that do just happen to make the news or tv.

Not everyone goes to the news or media I have contacted biological parents just for health information for adoptees and they are not going to connect. It’s definitely a very personal choice. There were eras where women were forced to give up their children some as resent as the 1980s. Most adoption papers are false too when it comes to biological parents. I just did a search where the mother never told the father and said they had 12 kids and couldn’t afford the child. She had two and was in the process of a divorce. He contacted the 1/2 brother who was so young he never knew his mother had a baby but on her death bed she mentioned him. There’s no disruption or meeting but he got the health information and still a dead end with the father

I had a friend who felt the same way. My ex-husband now and I adopted a newborn girl 47 yrs ago who I love with all my heart. We told her at an age when she was able to understand that she was adopted. In fact there's a book a psychologist told me about, bedtime story about adoption with her name in it. We gave her all the information we had, but she wasn't interested in contacting her biological mother. The woman had a son that's a year older than my daughter who she also gave up for adoption. I don't know if she ever found/contacted her biological mother since she became angry about something I did that had nothing to do with her and we haven't spoken in years.

We offered our adopted daughter the same assistance if she was interested. My biological father contacted me when I was in college and wanted to meet. I have unpleasant memories of him and wasn't interested especially since my I thought it was disrespectful to my dad (stepdad) who adopted us after he and Mom married since he was always there for us.

I think our society does view adoptees as a monolith, but the truth is we all have our own unique experiences and perspectives. Personally, I’ve been in reunion with my birth family for 7 years. It’s one of the toughest but most fulfilling things I’ve ever done. If you do ever decide to search, I wish you the very best.

Just make sure you take a test with a boyfriend etc. to see whether there are any connections when you fall in love or choose to have kids. That's the only issue because there is always an instant connection when you see a blood relative.

I am so happy for them. It makes me sad when fathers aren't given a chance to know that they have a child. Like the gentleman said, he missed out on a lot. There are so many good men out there who would be more than happy to embrace a child, if they only knew they had one. It is robbing them of a relationship with a child they may be delighted to have. But I'm so glad they found each other. What a blessing!

It's borderline criminal. If a woman doesn't want a child, she can abort, adopt out, or drop off a child and take off without the father's knowledge or consent. But if a man doesn't want a child, he has to pay child support for 18 years or go to jail.
