theRandomGuy - but it is, isn't it? There's a guy too who goes to farms and home who have Purple Martin Colonies and hire him to shoot these flying vermin House Sparrows and the Eastern Starling. I could watch him all day. I shoot my own but this guy has a really good air rifle. Behind me is a beef farm, beautiful view of acres of pasture but the down side is it brings rats and snakes and I have chickens. Every winter we battle with one or the other. I used to have a Border Collie that would go after the rats, but he is gone. I need a mink and a rat dog, lol.

Basically, he would just need to socialize them and make sure the dog locks onto and never forgets the mink’s scent and visual shape. I think most of his current companions, if not all of them, have been socialized and raised together in practice for hunting, so you’re correct there.

That dog shows signs of great intelligence as he not only understands the language, as " come" "look" "drop" and others single orders, but he acts on them some fast. The shake of the head to give a change of momentum to a rat is a good engineering action as it does not give any time to the rat to think what to do next and the high rate of change of momentum creates large forces which the structure of the rat cannot tolerate . Farms with their animal feed are a magnet for rats and their breeding rate means that this rat hunting procedure must be done very often. Good teamwork. I like the manner in which the dog and master waits patiently for the mink to do the job in place which can only be accessed by the mink. There is a great understanding in the team which means many years of training.

i just want to say i love what youre doing Joseph. Im just an average ferret owner and thats how i discovered your channel and im so proud and inspired at what you're doing. Showing the world that the mink whose known as a pest and a fierce predator/killer can actually benefit us in many ways. Especially the way you have saved them from fur farms and let them live the way the are supposed to. Its so sad to see how this species is treated. Youre not just taming them as pets but letting them live how they are supposed to while helping you as well. Its an incredible bond you have and im sure many animal specialists are impressed! Go you and keep doing what youre doing! Cheers from canada. My ferrets love watching their cousins too ;)
