I wish more people had the courage and responsibility to re-home a dog that is not thriving at a home. Not just abandon them or keep them in poor conditions forcefully for selfish reasons. .. Glad she got a new home and I hope she goes well.

Exactly, and not to be shamed for rehoming a pet, when its not suitable for them to be at the residence anymore.

There's no shame in rehoming a dog. Like you said, it's how responsible owners should behave. My wife is a vet and we both volunteer at shelters. In fact, I suggest even fostering a dog to take the pressure off. If you find the right fit, adopt the dog permanently. If you're dog is a pure breed, they are simple to rehome. Both owner and pet should be happy. The relationship should be mutually beneficial.

@@piteusx8440 I think the only time rehoming is a negative is if A)The dog is very old and has been with the family for a long time. Rehoming can cause a lot of distress, especially when an animal has formed a long standing attachment and it’s very hard to adopt out older animals. Like you wouldn’t abandon your grandma just because she got old. B) Rehoming animals flippantly, or if it’s trend of buying/adopting animals until the novelty wears off. C)Rehoming a family pet because a new gf/bf doesn’t like xyz pets and you want to impress them or if they’re giving ultimatums like ‘it’s me or the dog’ without a very valid reason.

As someone working in the veterinary field, thank you so much for rehoming your dog. We get terrible cases in our intensive care unit of dogs that get into fights with their housemates, and they come back again and again because the owner won't consider the dog's wellbeing. Thank you for caring enough to find her somewhere that would be safe for her.

Or get proper training. It's tough to find a trainer able to rehabilitate such cases but rehoming is a bad ides because the dog is aggressive and sent somewhere else and then eventually put down. Best to get proper training. It's as rare to find as it is to find someone ratting with dogs.

@@jeffffro7674 I’m not sure if it has anything to do with him utilising their instincts at work - but his dogs are able to release their needs for hunting routinely, in my opinion creating a harmonious relationship between dogs, him and other working animals - Gremlin wasn’t able to work as often and I’m not sure if that pent up her instinct and need to hunt so she then let it out on Sherni.. We don’t give enough credit to animals with how intelligent they are but we see right there the choice Sherni made showing her personality, I think they all know who’s who (this is new baby Boon) and Sherni in sense showed him who’s boss even though she knows Mink are off bounds, to kill the mink would mean to disobey Joe and that isn’t in Sherni’s best interest which she is fully aware of

Thank you for letting us know about Gremlin. I was touched by the way you took her needs into rehoming her. Not just anyone would have done that. We were given stewardship over the animals meaning we were meant to care for them and see to it that they were humanely treated. You have demonstrated that over and over not just for your dogs but for your mink. Of course the rats, muskrats, beavers, and raccoons don't think so but then they do have a 50/50 chance. Your little ones are growing like crazy and are getting so smart. A good idea to teach them to do another language too! Keep up the excellent work.

Please be careful with your beautiful mink. I just heard that Denmark is planning on killing off All of its farmed Minks (Close to 17 million) because they can contract the Coronavirus VERY easily. So sad. Stay safe plz!

  • @Randy1743

The reason I heard they are so concerned is that it appears the Covid the minks are getting is mutating. If a vaccine is approved it might not be as effective because of the mutation. The virus looks like it is very deadly to minks and can kill them within a day. Also read about a mink farm in Utah that was having problems with the virus, but don't know if they are having the mutation problems. I'm worried the government might decide to ban people from having minks, which would be terrible for someone like Joseph.
