I left a lengthy comment on a recent video about your storytelling. After watching THIS video, I now feel bad about what I wrote. Nice mix of action and story here. Thanks so much. You needed to draw a chalk outline around that muskrat before it was cached since that looked like a crime scene.

After watching some of videos on this channel, I think hunting with mink is a pretty cool concept and it has a lot of potential. It seems like you don't really need any expensive equipment for it, and because the prey is usually some creature that is easy to find in suburbs, it's not as time consuming as going to the woods for a week to just maybe find a bear or something. It's also nice to see an amazing animal portrayed as something more than just a bundle of expencive fur. Who knew mink can make such good hunting companions.

It's a lot of time and patience; this is a 3rd or 4th generation mink bred specifically for hunting rats and being obedient. It takes immense skill and awareness with animals.

That big muskrat meant business and it got the bluff in on Boon. It was a lot bigger than Boon. I know he could have taken it but apparently he was distracted or just not in the mood for a fight. I was mowing hay with a sickle mower years ago and accidentally hit a mink with the blade. It’s skin was so tough that it stopped the blade. When I got it loose it was dead but it’s skin wasn’t even cut.

Bindi is so stinking cute!! Also muskrats are insane!!

Honestly the first one was twice the size of the second one, maybe he understood it was just too big for him to take down.

Yeah when Boon was first settling on the ground the second dog started barking very loud and you could see him visibly pause and listen to the surroundings which made him uneasy. From that point on his body language was off.

Ya I agree too. The barkings from the various dogs were putting Boon on a very cautious mode. None wants to be backstabbed by another bigger animal while chasing down a prey.

Always look forward to your uploads, Joseph. It's amazing how well you're able to work with animals of all kinds.

Boon wasn't scared, he was smart.

I miss those old minks

When we brought our pitbull home he was small enough to bath him in a cooking pot. Now his head is the size of that pot and weighs 20x what he was in that first week. Pitbulls are a rewarding dog to own. Their physique correlates directly with how much effort you put into their overall health. They're facial expressions and body language are easy to read due to their short hair making communication a breeze.

I had to rewatch this vid because it is a great one, firstly Bindi walking through the water was funny 😆 but also just after Boon dispatched the final Musk Rat did you notice how the sound of the Airplane slightly distracted him just as he was about to bring it back? So I think it was an accumulation of things with the huge Musk rat, never seen boon run back in his cashing box like that! You have been redeemed though Mr Boon!! YOU ARE still the Musk rat slayer 💙

Do you find that the mink go through fear periods in their adolescence, similar to what dogs go through around 12-18 months? That may explain why Boon may have had a few days of hesitation, he may have been working through a fear period, where he is questioning if he's as badass as he thinks he is. Looks like he processed it well enough, either way!

Boon is beyond the adolescent stage. They mature very quickly.

Do you still pick up mink from mink farms? Just wondering. My all time favorite mink has to be washushe. The all around smartness displayed during training and just the aggressiveness during the hunt of a muskrat. Those were my first videos and I’d love to know if we’re getting any soon.

Even the best athletes have off days. It's better that Boon wasnt feeling it and backed or rather then get hurt. That mink is a UNIT!

I hear you but I think, he was like where is my big brother boss when I need him. And dad bring my a baby puppy. Even Laya would do right now. 6 to 12 month and she will be you go to dog boon. Don't worry next time it will be dinner.

So was that muskrat; it's hard to blame Boon for erring a bit on the side of caution.

Boon needs to be taken back yo that same muskrat until he will attack it, and make sure hes hungry right before the attempt!!!

So happy to see you with the pup! Sadly I've been gone for awhile due to family and personal matters but Im sure glad to see the pup next to u bud! Great video as always and I'll make sure I leave a like and watch the videos I've missed. Take care buddy

This episode I kept thinking of that song by Captain and Tennille it looks like Muskrat Love.

It was very interesting to watch how boon reacted. You could see the difference in behavior. I love how you went over your other mink as well.

You should try out a plott hound. The most universal hound dog there is. Fearless and the only American breed hound dog. They make great house/family dogs to.

How old does Bindi have to be until you teach her hunting? or does it come naturally. Also, how old will she be before she goes out and watches the other dogs hunt?

You know we all have bad days where we are just not feeling it. BOON WILL ALWAYS BE THE SLAMMER SLAYER IN MY BOOK . So what he had a bad 2 days who knows what was going on. We don't know what they're thinking. He's taken on big Muskrat's before with no problem. I think he was more into his feelings and that's all in saying. Goooooooo BOON YOU ROCK!!!!

I love watching and rewatching Boon's hunting vids. He is an awesome mink! How old is he at this moment? Still young I imagine.

Seeing him attack that last muskrat like a guided missile made me impossibly happy! This is what Boon was made for!!!

Hi Joseph! So earlier on when the mink backed away from the muskrat, and it bounces around your feet, do you ever just nab it yourself and take it out? Or is that not permitted? Thanks for another great video. I have a heavy leather glove that permits me to grab various animals without being bitten. Do you have a set that you prefer and recommend? I hated to see that muskrat get away...
